The article reflects on the series 'Prayers' by Brazilian visual artist Roberto Bellini (1979), born in the city of Juiz de Fora, Brazil. It articulates a dialogue between the artist's production and the concept of Nachleben, or post-life of the images from German art historian Aby Warburg. In his work Bellini identifies the permanence offorms and the performatic and ritualistic character of art. In dialogue with ancestral images, the artist recognizes them in history, identifies their strength and establishes formal connections that resonate with a deep subjectivity.
