The genetic and amelioration researches found that the morphobiological, phytotechical features of cowpea correspond to the pedoclimatic requirements of Moldova and this culture can be introduced with efficiency in agriculture. For the diversification of valuable crops, their use in food and canning industry, we propose the cultivation of Dina and Ina introductions varieties developed within the Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Protection of Plants. Successful of amelioration of the cowpea requires the use of high heritability characters: the growing season, the plant’s size, the number of branches per plant, the length of the pods and hundred seed weight.
