In order to reduce the number of household compressor claims we have looked for those properties of individual compressor components or assemblies which are the largest source of failures. It has ...come out that one of the most common reasons is the wear of crankshafts, which is a result both of the impurities and of the inadequate clearance between the crankshaft and the block. This article deals with the geometrical irregularities on the crankshaft and what causes them; mainly due to the incapability of the grinding process. Therefore, the focus will be on the dimensional and geometrical accuracy of the crankshaft production process. Due to the large number of input parameters, which largely influence the output characteristics of the product, and due to the reduction of the implementation costs in our planning process we have used the Taguchi method.
