Consolidation of water atomized Ni-superalloy powder

Powder of Ni-superalloy was manufactured through water atomization and investigated. The compaction of powder with cold isostatic pressing, vacuum sintering and hot extrusion were tested. ...Metallographical observations and micro probe analysis were performed. Also mechanical properties of hot extruded material were detrmined. The results indicate that sintering of particles covered with oxyde film is possible. The mechanical properties of heat treated material show that water atomized powder of Ni-superalloy is less propensive to consolidation due to the great number of inclusions.
