  • Use of online communication tools amongst elderly people in Slovenia and Finnland [Elektronski vir]

    Elderly people are many times deprived in various ways due to their age related problems and consequently more socially isolated.Use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) could help ... elderly people maintain interpersonal relationships (e-mails, online communication tools (Skype), social networks etc.), however ICT is by elderly people almost completely unused. The aim of this article is to present the efficiency and utilization of ICT, in particular the use of online communication tools amongst elderly people in Slovenia and Finland. We performed two single point studies, which included elderly people (M=60.2 years; SD=7 years) and longitudinal study which included elderly people (M=66.37 years; SD=5.76 years).The results showed that online communication tools are useful in maintaining personal relationships, since the fact that elderly people use them to be connected with other people.
