Semi solid alloys are often discussed as thixotropic alloys, but their behaviour is not always thixotropic. Experimentally stated rheological properties of semi solid alloys strongly depend on the ...applied measuring method, on the experimental equipment used, on the number of variable parameters, on the number and rapidity of their variations, and on the semi solid material itself (microstructure and its history up to the moment of the experiment start-up). In consequence, the properties reported by different authors can differ greatly. In this paper the dependence of the quality of rheological properties on experimental conditions are discussed.
