Computational model for fatigue initiation analysis of mechanical componentsŠraml, Matjaž ; Flašker, Jože ; Potrč, IztokA generalised computational model for contact fatigue damage initiation analysis of mechanical elements is presented. The model is based on continuum mechanics of assumed homogeneous and elastic ... material. FEM is used to determine the stress loading cycles for material points at various depths under the contact surface as a consequence of the moving contact loading. Normal contact loading is evaluated according to the Hertzian theory, whilst the frictional forces are considered with Coulomb friction law. The number of loading cycles for fatigue damage initiation is determined with the modified Coffin-Manson fatigue model.Source: Advanced computational engineering mechanics : proceedings of the 1.
