As an alternative way of financing, crowdfunding has been growing rapidly since the last financial crisis in 2008. The number of launched projects has increased, but the number of successful projects ...remains low. Little is known about what leads to success in this field, especially in Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries where the determinants of crowdfunding campaign success for projects are not identified. Therefore, the article focuses on identifying determinants of crowdfunding campaign success for projects from CEE countries. Based on the dataset from Kickstarter, consisting of 473 projects from CEE countries, I examine factors influencing the probability of project success. The analyzed sample of projects shows that the number of backers and mean contribution are positively correlated with the probability of campaign success, while a higher project goal lowers the probability of success. Project duration is not a statistically significant success factor.
The notion of the Gergonne point of a triangle in the Euclidean plane is very well known, and the study of them in the isotropic setting has already appeared earlier. In this paper, we give two ...generalizations of the Gergonne point of a triangle in the isotropic plane, and we study several curves related to them. The first generalization is based on the fact that for the triangle ABC and its contact triangle AiBiCi, there is a pencil of circles such that each circle km from the pencil the lines AAm, BBm, CCm is concurrent at a point Gm, where Am, Bm, Cm are points on km parallel to Ai,Bi,Ci, respectively. To introduce the second generalization of the Gergonne point, we prove that for the triangle ABC, point I and three lines q1,q2,q3 through I there are two points G1,2 such that for the points Q1,Q2,Q3 on q1,q2,q3 with d(I,Q1)=d(I,Q2)=d(I,Q3), the lines AQ1,BQ2 and CQ3 are concurrent at G1,2. We achieve these results by using the standardization of the triangle in the isotropic plane and simple analytical method.
In this paper, we study the properties of a complete quadrangle in the Euclidean plane. The proofs are based on using rectangular coordinates symmetrically on four vertices and four parameters ...a,b,c,d. Here, many properties of the complete quadrangle known from earlier research are proved using the same method, and some new results are given.

RasG is a major regulator of macropinocytosis in
. Its activity is under the control of an IQGAP-related protein, IqgC, which acts as a RasG-specific GAP (GTPase activating protein). IqgC colocalizes ...with the active Ras at the macropinosome membrane during its formation and for some time after the cup closure. However, the loss of IqgC induces only a minor enhancement of fluid uptake in axenic cells that already lack another RasGAP, NF1. Here, we show that IqgC plays an important role in the regulation of macropinocytosis in the presence of NF1 by restricting the size of macropinosomes. We further provide evidence that interaction with RasG is indispensable for the recruitment of IqgC to forming macropinocytic cups. We also demonstrate that IqgC interacts with another small GTPase from the Ras superfamily, Rab5A, but is not a GAP for Rab5A. Since mammalian Rab5 plays a key role in early endosome maturation, we hypothesized that IqgC could be involved in macropinosome maturation via its interaction with Rab5A. Although an excessive amount of Rab5A reduces the RasGAP activity of IqgC
and correlates with IqgC dissociation from endosomes
, the physiological significance of the Rab5A-IqgC interaction remains elusive.
The importance of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) for the economy is indisputable. However, SMEs worldwide, including Croatian ones, have difficulties in accessing financing sources, ...primarily the alternative ones like venture capital. Seeking venture capital for entrepreneurs is a big challenge because of the absence of unique venture capital investment criteria and investment process. Less than 3% of the entrepreneurs succeed in attracting venture capital. In order to increase the chances of obtaining venture capital in the first phase, this study seeks to explain the required venture capital investment criteria from the perspective of SMEs. To the author’s best knowledge, no studies have to date been undertaken specifically on venture capital investment criteria in Croatia. Final results suggest that that the SME manager/owner (manager/owner of SMEs) who seeks to attract venture capital is a male, aged between 35-44, has an BSc academic degree and the company is privately owned. Regarding the profile characteristics, the results show that, looking from the point of the SME manager/owner, goal orientation and hard work are the most important factors for seeking venture capital in the first phase, followed by innovation and reasonable risk-taking.
Different funders, like bankers, business angels or venture capitalists, put the accent on various investment criteria while making investment decisions. Entrepreneurs need to be familiar with these ...criteria or different requirements of potential investors in order to adjust their business plans. Motivated by the phenomenon of venture capital, numerous researchers worldwide are trying to identify the venture capitalists’ investment criteria. Despite the large number of studies, there is still no unambiguous answer to what the key venture capitalists’ investment criteria are. This paper provides an overview of research about investment criteria set by different suppliers of capital with a special emphasis on venture capitalists’ investment criteria. The most used VCs’ investment criteria discussed in the literature are identified and analysed in order to provide a new set of VC investment criteria.
Prediction of crowdfunding success is a challenging problem that has great importance for project creators and platforms. Although meta features, e.g., number of updates or backers, are widely used ...for success prediction, they are limited to time period after project posting where project creators cannot adapt their profiles. Because of that, ability to predict campaign success in pre-posting phase would significantly improve chance for project success. According to the theory, mostly used methods in this situation are those based on text features, while methods based on the influence of image modality on project success are rare. Due to this, in this article we propose deep learning-based method for crowdfunding success prediction in pre-posting phase using project title image. Experimental results show that image modality could be used for campaign success prediction. Proposed method obtains results comparable to competing methods from literature, but using only one image per campaign and no derived features. It is also shown that deeper convolutional neural network achieves better prediction performance.
In the period from July 10 to 14, 2023, a professional training course called "Carbon Accounting" was held in Singapore, which was the result of long-term research and application of the green ...economy, and which was implemented through the technical support program of the Singapore government. Singapore has been providing technical support to other developing countries since the 1960s, and in terms of economic and social development it has also emphasized the importance of investing in human resources. In the course of series of training course lectures, experts from Singapore provided an introduction to the carbon emissions accounting, as well as to the inventory of gases with a greenhouse effect (GHG - Greenhouse Gas). Topics covered in the training course were the impact of greenhouse gases on climate change, setting targets for reducing the greenhouse gas effects in Singapore, as well as approaches to calculating and monitoring the impact of carbon emissions. This paper presents topics based on the calculation of carbon emissions, the concepts of Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions, which are part of the carbon emissions accounting and reporting on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Certain facts about the carbon emissions accounting in the territory of the Republic of Singapore, as well as the connection of carbon accounting with the population and industry, have also been presented. Moreover, an application for calculating one's own carbon footprint has been presented, along with the photographs taken during the period of stay in this island city-state.
The visit to Singapore was realized in the period July 10-14, 2023. During this period, a course called "Carbon Accounting" was also held. In addition to the course, an expert visit aimed at research ...on the green construction was also carried out. This included an analysis of the state of the environment and sustainable development, which is based on the conservation, improvement and protection of natural and created values, all with the aim of improving the green economy and reducing the impact of climate change. Singapore, or officially the Republic of Singapore, is an island city-state in Southeast Asia. The territory of the state of Singapore consists of 63 islands, including the main island of Singapore. The southern part of Singapore, an area surrounding the mouth of Singapore River and the nowadays city's business center, used to be the only inhabited urban area, while the rest of the island was either undeveloped tropical rain forest or it was used for agriculture. According to the Köppen climate classification system, Singapore has a tropical climate with no difference in seasons. Its climate is characterized by the same temperature and pressure, high air humidity, and abundant rains. This paper also provides photographs taken during the stay in this is-land city-state.
