Problems of energy and fresh water shortage become hard challenges facing survival of the human beings. Egypt especially is facing increasing of water supply challenges due to population growth. In ...this study, a new proposed solar adsorption desalination-cooling (ADC) system is designed, built, and tested under Egypt's climate conditions. A commercially available silica gel of about 13.5 kg is used. The Adsorption characteristics of the selected silica gel-water pair are evaluated firstly to design the proposed system. In addition, a theoretical dynamic model is developed to predict the system performance. A good agreement is found between the theoretical and experimental results under different Egypt climate conditions. The results show that, the average specific cooling power is 112 W/kg and average specific daily water production is 4 m3 per ton silica gel with a COP of 0.45. Based on the obtained results, ADC system driven by solar energy proven to be an adequate solution to offer proper alternative to the traditional desalination systems and have promising future in Egypt's climate. However, studies about improving the performance of such system and new designs are still needed.

Cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) and ZnO/CuO nanostructure were successfully synthesized by acid hydrolysis and sol-chemical methods, respectively. For the first time, CNC was used as a host polymer for synthesis of CNC/ZnO/CuO through In-situ solution casting technique. Morphological and structural of CNC, ZnO/CuO and hybrid CNC/ZnO/CuO were investigated by TEM, SEM-EDX, FT-IR, XRD and XPS analyses. The analysis revealed that, poly-dispersed, smooth and rod like CNC with an average length of ∼ 85.4 nm, average diameter of ∼13.9 nm and surface charge of 0.01 mmol/gm. As well, irregular shapes as hexagonal, spherical and cluster or star like of ZnO/CuO were formed. EDX and XRD spectra exhibited highly purified CNC/ZnO/CuO and pointed to cellulose II crystallite form with a monoclinic structure. The results demonstrated that, 91.3 % and 99.7 % dye degradation was achieved after 40 min of irradiation due to ZnO/CuO and CNC/ZnO/CuO treatment. Moreover, the inhibition zones formed due to 100 ppm ZnO/CuO were duplicated after integrating CNC (from 7.7:10.3 mm to 14.3:20.3 mm). The hybrid nanostructure exhibit larvicidal activity against Anopheles stephensi better than CNC and ZnO/CuO nanostructures.
Cyber-physical attacks are the main substantial threats facing the utilization and development of the various smart grid technologies. Among these attacks, false data injection attack represents a ...main category with its widely varied types and impacts that have been extensively reported recently. In addressing this threat, several detection algorithms have been developed in the last few years. These were either model-based or data-driven algorithms. This paper provides an intensive summary of these algorithms by categorizing them and elaborating on the pros and cons of each category. The paper starts by introducing the various cyber-physical attacks along with the main reported incidents in history. The significance and the impacts of the false data injection attacks are then reported. The concluding remarks present the main criteria that should be considered in developing future detection algorithms for the false data injection attacks.
The Karnaphuli River estuary, located in southeast coast of Bangladesh, is largely exposed to heavy metal contamination as it receives a huge amount of untreated industrial effluents from the ...Chottagram City. This study aimed to assess the concentrations of five heavy metals (As, Pb, Cd, Cr and Cu) and their bioaccumulation status in six commercially important fishes, and also to evaluate the potential human health risk for local consumers. The hierarchy of the measured concentration level (mg/kg) of the metals was as follows: Pb (13.88) > Cu (12.10) > As (4.89) > Cr (3.36) > Cd (0.39). The Fulton's condition factor denoted that fishes were in better 'condition' and most of the species were in positive allometric growth. The bioaccumulation factors (BAFs) of the contaminants observed in the species were in the following orders: Cu (1971.42) > As (1042.93) > Pb (913.66) > Cr (864.99) > Cd (252.03), and among the specimens, demersal fish, Apocryptes bato appeared to be the most bioaccumulative organism. Estimated daily intake (EDI), target hazard quotient (THQ), hazard index (HI) and carcinogenic risk (CR) assessed for potential human health risk implications suggest that the values were within the acceptable threshold for both adults and children. However, calculated CR values indicated that both age groups were not far from the risk, and HI values demonstrated that children were nearly 6 times more susceptible to non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic health effects than adults.

Addiction was suggested to emerge from the progressive dominance of habits over goal-directed behaviors. However, it is generally assumed that habits do not persist in choice settings. Therefore, it ...is unclear how drug habits may persist in real-world scenarios where this factor predominates. Here, we discuss the poor translational validity of the habit construct, which impedes our ability to determine its role in addiction. New evidence of habitual behavior in a drug choice setting are then described and discussed. Interestingly, habitual preference did not promote drug choice but instead favored abstinence. Here, we propose several clues to reconcile these unexpected results with the habit theory of addiction, and we highlight the need in experimental research to face the complexity of drug addicts' decision-making environments by investigating drug habits in the context of choice and in the presence of cues. On a theoretical level, we need to consider more complex frameworks, taking into account continuous interactions between goal-directed and habitual systems, and alternative decision-making models more representative of real-world conditions.

Nanotechnology has received much attention because of its distinctive properties and many applications in various fields. Nanotechnology is a new approach to increase agricultural ...production with premium quality, environmental safety, biological support, and financial stability. Ecofriendly technology is becoming progressively important in modern agricultural applications as alternatives to traditional fertilizers and pesticides. Nanotechnology offers an alternative solution to overcome the disadvantages of conventional agriculture. Therefore, recent developments in using nanoparticles (NPs) in agriculture should be studied. This review presented a novel overview about the biosynthesis of NPs, using NPs as nano-fertilizers and nano-pesticides, the applications of NPs in agriculture, and their role in enhancing the function of biofactors. We also, show recent studies on NPs-plant interactions, the fate and safety of nanomaterials in plants, and NPs' function in alleviating the adverse effects of abiotic stress and heavy metal toxicity. Nano-fertilizers are essential to reduce the use of inorganic fertilizers and reduce their antagonistic effects on the environment. Nano-fertilizers are more reactive, can penetrate the epidermis allowing for gradual release, and targeted distribution, and thus reducing nutrients surplus, enhancing nutrient use efficiency. We also, concluded that NPs are crucial in alleviating abiotic stress and heavy metal toxicity. However, some studies reported the toxic effects of NPs on higher plants by induction of oxidative stress signals via depositing NPs on the cell surface and in organelles. The knowledge in our review article is critical in defining limitations and future perspectives of using nano-fertilizers as an alternative to conventional fertilizers.
No systematic review or meta-analysis has yet been conducted to examine the impact of the pandemic on the prevalence of sleep problems among the general population, health care workers, or patients ...with COVID-19. Therefore, this systematic review was conducted to assess the impact and prevalence of sleep problems among those categories.
American Psychological Association PsycINFO, Cochrane, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), EBSCOhost, EMBASE, Google Scholar, MEDLINE, ProQuest Medical, ScienceDirect, Scopus, and Web of Science from November 1, 2019 to July 5, 2020 were used. Additionally, 5 preprints servers (medRxiv.org; preprints.org; psyarxiv.com; arXiv.org; biorxiv.org) were also searched for papers accepted after peer review but not yet published and indexed. There was no language restriction. The random-effect models meta-analysis model was used with the DerSimonian and Laird methodology.
Forty-four papers, involving a total of 54,231 participants from 13 countries, were judged relevant and contributed to the systematic review and meta-analysis of sleep problems during COVID-19. The global pooled prevalence rate of sleep problems among all populations was 35.7% (95% confidence interval, 29.4-42.4%). Patients with COVID-19 appeared to be the most affected group, with a pooled rate of 74.8% (95% confidence interval, 28.7-95.6%). Health care workers and the general population had comparative rates of sleep problems, with rates of 36.0% (95% confidence interval, 21.1-54.2%) and 32.3% (95% confidence interval, 25.3-40.2%), respectively.
The prevalence of sleep problems during the COVID-19 pandemic is high and affects approximately 40% of people from the general and health care populations. Patients with active COVID-19 appeared to have a higher prevalence rates of sleep problems.

Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) plays a central role in blood pressure regulation by producing the vasoconstrictor angiotensin II. The inhibition of ACE with natural inhibitors, ...as alternatives to avoid the side effect of synthetic drugs, is a major target in the prevention of hypertension. In this study, we examined the separated caseins and whey proteins of goat milk for the presence of ACE inhibitory peptides. Digestion of isolated whey proteins and caseins of goat milk by gastric pepsin generated soluble hydrolysates exhibiting significant inhibition of ACE compared to weak inhibition by undigested proteins. The hydrolysates were fractionated by size exclusion chromatography, Sephacryl S-100 column, into four fractions (F1–F4). The late-eluting fraction (F4) of either whey or caseins exhibited greater ACE inhibition. Peptides in both F4 fractions, isolated by RP-HPLC, exhibited variable ACE inhibitory activities with the hydrophobic peptide peaks being the most potent ACE inhibitors. MALDI-TOF MS/MS resulted in identification of three potent ACE inhibitory peptides: PEQSLACQCL from β-lactoglobulin (residues 113–122), QSLVYPFTGPI from β-casein (residues 56–66), and ARHPHPHLSFM from κ-casein (residues 96–106). The peptides from whey and caseins exert significant ACE inhibitory activities comparable to that of captopril, an antihypertensive drug, exhibiting IC50 values of 4.45μM and 4.27μM, respectively. The results introduce, for the first time, new potent ACE-inhibitory peptides that can be released by gastric pepsin of goat milk whey and caseins and thus may pave the way for their candidacy as anti-hypertensive bioactive peptides and prevention of associated disorders.
The use of bisphenol A (BPA) in consumer products and food packaging has been associated under certain conditions with a risk of negative health outcomes. This prompted its removal from many products ...and replacement with structural analogs. Bisphenol S (BPS) is one such analog, but its metabolic effects have not been fully characterized. The objective of our study was to determine whether BPS functions similarly to BPA at inducing adipogenesis.
Murine 3T3-L1 preadipocytes were used to evaluate and compare the adipogenic potential of BPS to BPA. Cells were treated with 0.01-50 μM BPS or 0.01-50 μM BPA and adipogenic effects were measured. Further, their ability to activate peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), an adipogenic transcription factor, was also determined.
Our results indicate that treatment of 3T3-L1 cells with BPS induced lipid accumulation and increased mRNA and protein expression of key adipogenic markers (1-50 μM; P<0.05). BPS treatment resulted in a higher expression of adipogenic markers as well as greater lipid accumulation when compared with BPA treatment. We showed that BPS can upregulate lipoprotein lipase, adipocyte protein 2, PPARγ, perilipin, adipsin and CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein alpha mRNA expression levels. Furthermore, using transcriptional assays, we showed that BPS and BPA can modestly activate PPARγ using a PPRE (PPARγ response element)-dependent luciferase construct by 1.5-fold (P<0.05). However, BPS but not BPA was able to competitively inhibit rosiglitazone (ROSI)-activated PPARγ, suggesting that BPS interacts with PPARγ distinctly from BPA. Co-treatment of cells with the selective PPARγ antagonist GW9662 inhibits BPS-, BPA-, ROSI- but not dexamethasone-dependent adipogenic differentiation.
Both BPA and BPS can enhance 3T3-L1 adipocyte differentiation in a dose-dependent manner and require PPARγ to induce adipogenesis. Through direct comparison, we show that BPS is a more potent adipogen than BPA.

P. aeruginosa
PAO1 at sub-inhibitory levels without any bactericidal effect. CA effectively downregulated both the

and
rhl
QS systems with
lasI
and
lasR
levels inhibited by 13- and 7-fold respectively compared to 3- and 2-fold reductions with SA treatment, during the stationary growth phase. The QS inhibitors (QSI) also reduced the production of extracellular virulence factors with CA reducing protease, elastase and pyocyanin by 65%, 22% and 32%, respectively. The QSIs significantly reduced biofilm formation and concomitantly with repressed rhamnolipid gene expression, only trace amount of extracellular rhamnolipids were detected. The QSIs did not completely inhibit virulence factor expression and production but their administration significantly lowered the virulence phenotypes at both the transcriptional and extracellular levels.
