This research was designed to find out the effect of different factors such as influence of lunar cycle, harvesting interval, rope type and seeding gap on the production of G. tenuistipitata in coast ...of Cox's Bazar. Duration of these experiments were sixty days and all the parameters were recorded fortnightly. Monitoring of water quality parameters indicated that salinity, temperature, transparency, pH and DO were suitable for seaweed cultivation. In determining lunar cycle effect, results envisaged that fresh yield was 14.43% increased when seeding and harvesting time was selected considering the moon cycle. Regarding the selection of harvesting interval, it was found that T
(30 days interval) was the best to harvest the seaweed whereas T
(40 days interval) showed decreasing trend in production. Our study also found that semi floating single line showed better yield performance compared to semi floating double line system. In case of influence on seeding gap, it has been found that 20 cm gap between two seed showed the highest yields followed by 10 cm, 30 cm and 40 cm, respectively. Overall, it can be concluded that yield of G. tenuistipitata in coast of Cox's Bazar could be improved considering those factors.
While the functionality and healthy food value of red rice have increased its popularity, such that market demand for it is expected to rise, most strains suffer from low grain yield. To perform ...diversity and population structure analyses of red rice germplasm, therefore, becomes essential for improving yields for commercial production. In this study, fifty red rice germplasm from the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) genebank were characterized both morphologically and genetically using fifty simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. Overall, 162 alleles were detected by the markers with the detected allele number varying from two to seven. Additionally, 22 unique alleles were identified for use as a germplasm diagnostic tool. The highest and lowest polymorphic information content (PIC) indices were 0.75 and 0.04 found in markers RM282 and RM304, respectively, and genetic diversity was moderate, varying from 0.05 to 0.78 (average: 0.35). While phylogenetic cluster analysis of the fifteen distance-based agro-morphological traits divided the germplasm into five clusters (I, II, III, IV and V), a similar SSR analysis yielded only three major groups (I, II, and III), and a model-based population structure analysis yielded four (A, B, C and D). Both principal component and neighbors joining tree analysis from the population structure method showed the tested germplasm as highly diverse in structure. Moreover, an analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA), as well as a pairwise FST analysis, both indicated significant differentiation (ranging from 0.108 to 0.207) among all pairs of populations, suggesting that all four population structure groups differed significantly. Populations A and D were the most differentiated from each other by FST. Findings from this study suggest that the diverse germplasm and polymorphic trait-linked SSR markers of red rice are suitable for the detection of economically desirable trait loci/genes for use in future molecular breeding programs.
Scene representation-the process of converting visual sensory data into concise descriptions-is a requirement for intelligent behavior. Recent work has shown that neural networks excel at this task ...when provided with large, labeled datasets. However, removing the reliance on human labeling remains an important open problem. To this end, we introduce the Generative Query Network (GQN), a framework within which machines learn to represent scenes using only their own sensors. The GQN takes as input images of a scene taken from different viewpoints, constructs an internal representation, and uses this representation to predict the appearance of that scene from previously unobserved viewpoints. The GQN demonstrates representation learning without human labels or domain knowledge, paving the way toward machines that autonomously learn to understand the world around them.
Out-of-pocket (OOP) payment is the major payment strategy for healthcare in Bangladesh, and the share of OOP expenditure has increased alarmingly. Dhaka is recognised as one of the fastest-growing ...megacities in the world. The objective of this study is to capture the self-reported illnesses among urban citizens and to identify whether and to what extent socioeconomic, demographic and behavioural factors of the population influence OOP healthcare expenditures.
This study utilises cross-sectional survey data collected from May to August 2019 in urban Dhaka, Bangladesh. A total of 3,100 households were randomly selected. Simple descriptive statistics including frequencies, percentage, mean (95% CI), median and inter-quartile range were presented. Bivariate analysis and multivariate regression models were employed.
We observed that acute illnesses (e.g., fever, flu/cough) were dominant among participants. Among the chronic illnesses, approximately 9.6% of people had diabetes, while 5.3% had high/low blood pressure. The richest quintile only spent 5.2% of their household income on healthcare, while the poorest households spent approximately six times more than the richest households. We noted that various factors such as marital status, religion, source of care, access to safe water, income quintile and even the location of households had a significant relationship with OOP expenditure.
Our findings can serve as important source of data in terms of disease- specific symptoms and out-of-pocket cost among urban citizens in Dhaka. The people belonging to wealthier households tended to choose better healthcare facilities and spend more. A pro-poor policy initiative and even an urban health protection scheme may be necessary to ensure that healthcare services are accessible and affordable, in line with the Bangladesh National Urban Health Strategy.
Recently, drug nanosuspensions have shown a potential for ophthalmic delivery. In this study, a hydrocortisone (HC) nanosuspension (NS) was developed using microfluidic nanoprecipitation as a recent, ...simple and cost-effective bottom-up technique of drug nanonization. For comparison, a second HC NS was prepared by top-down wet milling procedures. The produced nanosuspensions were characterized for particle size, shape and zeta potential. HC nanosuspensions of approximately 300
nm particle size were produced by adjusting experimental conditions of the two processing techniques. Results of X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry revealed that HC maintained the crystalline structure upon milling, while predominant amorphous particles were generated after precipitation. Ocular bioavailability of HC nanosuspensions was assessed in albino rabbits using HC solution as a control. A sustained drug action was maintained up to 9
h for the nanosuspensions compared to 5

T-cell infiltration in estrogen receptor (ER)-negative breast tumours has been associated with longer survival. To investigate this association and the potential of tumour T-cell infiltration as a ...prognostic and predictive marker, we have conducted the largest study of T cells in breast cancer to date.
Four studies totalling 12 439 patients were used for this work. Cytotoxic (CD8+) and regulatory (forkhead box protein 3, FOXP3+) T cells were quantified using immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC for CD8 was conducted using available material from all four studies (8978 samples) and for FOXP3 from three studies (5239 samples)-multiple imputation was used to resolve missing data from the remaining patients. Cox regression was used to test for associations with breast cancer-specific survival.
In ER-negative tumours triple-negative breast cancer and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) positive), presence of CD8+ T cells within the tumour was associated with a 28% 95% confidence interval (CI) 16% to 38% reduction in the hazard of breast cancer-specific mortality, and CD8+ T cells within the stroma with a 21% (95% CI 7% to 33%) reduction in hazard. In ER-positive HER2-positive tumours, CD8+ T cells within the tumour were associated with a 27% (95% CI 4% to 44%) reduction in hazard. In ER-negative disease, there was evidence for greater benefit from anthracyclines in the National Epirubicin Adjuvant Trial in patients with CD8+ tumours hazard ratio (HR) = 0.54; 95% CI 0.37-0.79 versus CD8-negative tumours (HR = 0.87; 95% CI 0.55–1.38). The difference in effect between these subgroups was significant when limited to cases with complete data (Pheterogeneity = 0.04) and approached significance in imputed data (Pheterogeneity = 0.1).
The presence of CD8+ T cells in breast cancer is associated with a significant reduction in the relative risk of death from disease in both the ER-negative supplementary Figure S1, available at Annals of Oncology online and the ER-positive HER2-positive subtypes. Tumour lymphocytic infiltration may improve risk stratification in breast cancer patients classified into these subtypes.

Humanitarian relief logistics is one of the most important elements of a relief operation in disaster management. The present work develops a multi-objective robust stochastic programming approach ...for disaster relief logistics under uncertainty. In our approach, not only demands but also supplies and the cost of procurement and transportation are considered as the uncertain parameters. Furthermore, the model considers uncertainty for the locations where those demands might arise and the possibility that some of the pre-positioned supplies in the relief distribution center or supplier might be partially destroyed by the disaster. Our multi-objective model attempts to minimize the sum of the expected value and the variance of the total cost of the relief chain while penalizing the solution’s infeasibility due to parameter uncertainty; at the same time the model aims to maximize the affected areas’ satisfaction levels through minimizing the sum of the maximum shortages in the affected areas. Considering the global evaluation of two objectives, a compromise programming model is formulated and solved to obtain a non-dominating compromise solution. We present a case study of our robust stochastic optimization approach for disaster planning for earthquake scenarios in a region of Iran. Our findings show that the proposed model can help in making decisions on both facility location and resource allocation in cases of disaster relief efforts.
Abstract Optimal pH is essential for efficient cobalt extraction from polymeric membrane systems, with D 2 EHPA used as an extractant for Co(II) at pH < 7, achieving 47% efficiency. The pH of ...piperazine as a stripping agent increases to a concentration of 0.48 M, and the extraction efficiency of Co(II) > 80%. Depending on the functional group of (C 4 H 10 N 2 ), the optimal pH for separation was 9.8. The study revealed that pKa value was calculated to predict the ideal pH, and its value was 9.73, which is nearly to the pH, since the pH of the strip concentration and the properties of the membrane affect the extraction of cobalt at 30 ° C. The partition ratio indicates the high distribution of the extract in supported ceramic polymer membrane (SCPM). Walkability is a term that describes various aspects of the built and social environment and has been associated with physical activity and public health. Walkability is subjective and although ...multiple definitions of walkability exist, there is no single agreed upon definition. Road networks are integral parts of mobility and should be an important part of walkability. However, using the road structure as nodes is not widely discussed in existing methods. Most walkability measures only provide area–based scores with low spatial resolution, have a one–size–fits–all approach, and do not consider individuals opinion. Active Living Feature Score (ALF–Score) is a network–based walkability measure that incorporates road network structures as a core component. It also utilizes user opinion to build a high–confidence ground–truth that is used in our machine learning pipeline to generate models capable of estimating walkability. We found combination of network features with road embedding and points of interest features creates a complimentary feature set enabling us to train our models with an accuracy of over 87% while maintaining a conversion consistency of over 98%. Our proposed approach outperforms existing measures by introducing a novel method to estimate walkability scores that are representative of users opinion with a high spatial resolution, for any point on the road.
