The differential cross section for the reaction p(γ,ηp) has been measured from threshold to 1100 MeV photon laboratory energy. For the first time, the region of the S11(1535) resonance is fully ...covered in a photoproduction experiment and will allow a precise extraction of its parameters at the photon point. These high precision data together with the already measured beam asymmetry data will provide stringent constraints on the extraction of new couplings of baryon resonances to the η meson.

We describe the design, construction, and performance of a polarized solid target for use in electron scattering experiments with the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer. Protons and deuterons are ...continuously polarized by microwave-induced spin–flip transitions at

. The target operated successfully during two cycles in 1998 and 2000, providing proton and deuteron polarizations as high as 96% and 46%, respectively. The unique features of the target which permit its use inside a 4
π spectrometer are stressed. Comparison is made between the target polarization measured by the traditional method of NMR and by electron elastic scattering.
This volume contains the proceedings of the GDH 2002 symposium. It is a review of the most recent results on the nucleon spin structure and related sum rules using real and virtual photons. The ...latest theoretical developments and the new high precision data from different laboratories are presented and discussed. The book provides a comprehensive picture of the nucleon spin studies from the perturbative domain down to the resonance and low momentum transfer region.

The ANTARES collaboration is building a large undersea telescope located at 2500
m depth in front of the Toulon shore with the main purpose to search for high-energy neutrinos from astrophysical ...sources. Neutrinos are detected through the Cherenkov light emitted by the muons produced in the neutrino interaction with the matter surrounding the detector. A 40
km long electro-optical cable connects the site to the shore. A prototype line consisting of a string of 15 PMTs and an instrumented line to monitor the environmental parameters have been successfully deployed and connected to the main cable using a manned submarine. The description and the expected performances of the full telescope as well as some preliminary results from the prototyping phase are presented.

The results of an experiment on inclusive electron scattering from an oxygen jet target, performed in a wide range of energy and momentum transfer covering both quasi-elastic and Δ(1232) resonance ...regions, are reported. In the former region the theoretical predictions, obtained including effects of nucleon-nucleon correlations in both initial and final states, give a good description of the experimental data. In the inelastic region a broadening as well as a damping of the resonant part of the cross section with respect to the free nucleon case is observed. The need of more detailed calculations including nuclear structure effects on the electroproduction cross section of nucleon resonances is highlighted.
Cherenkov light induced by radioactive decay products is one of the major sources of background light for deep-sea neutrino telescopes such as ANTARES. These decays are at the same time a powerful ...calibration source. Using data collected by the ANTARES neutrino telescope from mid 2008 to 2017, the time evolution of the photon detection efficiency of optical modules is studied. A modest loss of only 20% in 9 years is observed. The relative time calibration between adjacent modules is derived as well.

The study of the response of the two modules of the large-angle electromagnetic shower calorimeter of the CLAS detector to charged and neutral particles is reported. The results agree very well with ...the Monte Carlo simulation. The procedures adopted for the energy and timing calibration are also discussed, proving that the module geometry allows for simple self-calibrating energy and timing algorithms.
