Decision Support Systems (DSS) provide decision-makers with functionalities to exploit various ...information on which to build a basis for making decisions. In the medical industry, specialized DSS are increasingly used to support physicians in making clinical decisions, thus helping to improve the medical services. The presented architecture make use of Electronic Health Record (EHR) combined with available technologies and standards, clinical databases and specialized knowledge bases. In the paper, it is presented a specialized DSS that answers the needs of the health system.
The G protein-coupled receptor melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) and its associated protein melanocortin receptor-associated protein 2 (MRAP2) are essential for the regulation of food intake and body ...weight in humans. MC4R localizes and functions at the neuronal primary cilium, a microtubule-based organelle that senses and relays extracellular signals. Here, we demonstrate that MRAP2 is critical for the weight-regulating function of MC4R neurons and the ciliary localization of MC4R. More generally, our study also reveals that GPCR localization to primary cilia can require specific accessory proteins that may not be present in heterologous cell culture systems. Our findings further demonstrate that targeting of MC4R to neuronal primary cilia is essential for the control of long-term energy homeostasis and suggest that genetic disruption of MC4R ciliary localization may frequently underlie inherited forms of obesity.
Among its principal purposes, the next ExoMars mission aims to the study of the martian climate and planetary boundary layer. The mission lander hosts the sensor MicroMED aimed to monitor the dust ...embedded into the atmosphere. This work presents the study of the MicroMED noise characteristics and the techniques adopted to filter the resulting false positive detections. In particular, it shows a simple algorithm able to optimize the instrument performances, when both an AC and DC signal interferences are involved.
The spatial extension of a gamma-ray source is an essential ingredient to determine its spectral properties as well as its potential multi-wavelength counterpart. The capability to spatially resolve ...gamma-ray sources is greatly improved by the newly delivered Fermi-Large Area Telescope (LAT) Pass 8 event-level analysis which provides a greater acceptance and an improved point spread function, two crucial factors for the detection of extended sources. Here, we present a complete search for extended sources located within 7 degrees from the Galactic plane, using 6 years of LAT data above 10 GeV. We find 46 extended sources and provide their morphological and spectral characteristics. This constitutes the first catalog of hard LAT extended sources, named the Fermi Galactic Extended Source Catalog, which allows a thorough study of the properties of the Galactic plane in the sub-TeV domain.
