The purpose of this research was to determine whether there is a need for students to take online geography lessons during states of emergency situations when schools are temporarily closed as a ...result of unforeseen events such as pandemics, natural disasters, technological mishaps, the effects of terrorism, war, and other significant catastrophes. With this research we investigated whether the number of online geography lessons was increasing or decreasing and whether students searched for online help during school closure. Research was conducted through an online survey. Our study will contribute to the understanding of investigating how students at any school in the world are prepared for online learning. The results show that students need online assistance and tutoring when learning geography in unpredictable situations when schools are closed.
To increase the entrepreneurial intention, it is necessary to understand the main drivers that are driving students, as carriers of future economic development, towards starting a personal business ...venture. With regards to that, the main aim of this research was to analyze the entrepreneurial intention among students (managers in training) in the field of tourism and hospitality management. Particular attention was paid to the influence of their socio-demographic characteristics, as well as their parents on entrepreneurial intention. The research was conducted in survey form on a sample of 310 students in Serbia in 2020. The main findings indicated that entrepreneurial intention is higher among the male students, as well as among those students whose parents are entrepreneurs or whose fathers are retired. Besides theoretical contribution, the research results might contribute to scientific and research organizations and institutions in providing the guidelines for forming study programs that will raise the students’ entrepreneurial intention.
Tour guide performance has been a hotly debated academic topic, owing to the critical role they play in facilitating a variety of tourist experiences. Similarly, museum tour guides are the initial ...point of contact for tourists and have a substantial impact on the total visitor experience, but their performance is far less investigated. Visitors’ satisfaction and behavior intentions are inextricably linked to museum guide performances in this case. The purpose of this research was to implement and test a well-established scale for assessing tour guide performance in the museum context. Moreover, the aim was also to single out and discuss museum guide types based on their performances. The research was conducted during May and June 2021 on a sample of 255 visitors from five museums in Serbia. The data were processed by SPSS, R and RStudio. The results indicate the existence of five museum guide types: Classic Professional, Agile Empath, Operational Erudite, Trustworthy Caretaker, and Passionate Socializer. The study explores sociodemographic differences in visitors’ evaluations of tour guide performances and gives theoretical and managerial implication for each museum guide type.
Individual values shaped in the early years of each individual might be reflected in the perception of the business environment. Therefore, this research explored whether there are significant ...differences in employees’ perceptions of the established dimensions of corporate social responsibility (CSR), namely philanthropic, legal, economic and ethical, based on differences in the importance of individual values (IV). The research results show that each of the CSR dimensions differs according to the respondents’ IVs. More precisely, there are significant differences in the respondents’ perceptions of the philanthropic dimension of CSR based on differences in the evaluation of sense of belonging, warm relationships, being well respected, fun and enjoyment of life, security, self-respect and sense of accomplishment. Differences in perceptions of the legal dimension of CSR exist only in the case of differences in the evaluation of self-respect. The research results also show that there are significant differences in perceptions of the economic dimension of CSR, based on differences in the evaluation of sense of belonging, warm relationships, fun and enjoyment in life, security, self-respect and sense of accomplishment. Finally, significant differences in the perception of the ethical dimension of CSR exist in the case of differences in sense of belonging, excitement, warm relationships, being well respected, fun and enjoyment of life, security, self-respect and sense of accomplishment. The results could provide the basis of information on how IVs can motivate employees to understand and participate in the proactive management of CSR activities in sensitive environments, such as national parks or other protected areas that become a central meeting place for tourists and employees.
Virtual (VR) and augmented reality (AR) have emerged from the framework of academic and industrial laboratories and have acquired global attention. Currently, the focus shifted from the technologies ...themselves to finding adequate teaching and learning applications. In this paper, the students' attitudes toward the application of mobile AR (MAR) in higher education (HE) were researched (with a focus on augmented textbooks). The results showed that the students have a mostly positive attitude, and it is concluded that there was no statistically significant difference between the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and non-STEM students' opinions regarding this topic. Based on the results, the further research and integration of this technology into HE settings can be suggested.
This study was conducted to determine the attitudes of teachers concerning inclusion in schools all over Serbia. The respondents were teachers of different subjects who were tasked to anonymously ...complete the provided closed-type questionnaire (970 respondents). Primary and secondary school teachers from urban and rural areas of the Republic of Serbia participated in the research. The results indicate that the teachers are supportive of inclusion. Despite significant differences in respondents’ answers, the results of the research show that there are many similarities in teacher responses toward inclusive education. The results show that it is still necessary to work on the implementation of inclusive education in Serbia, especially to educate the teaching staff and involve experts in the planning and development of individual educational plans.
