The goal of this study was to determine whether tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα)-induced Src activation and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) phosphorylation rapidly increase endothelial cell ...adhesivity and polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMN) sequestration independently of de novo ICAM-1 synthesis.
TNFα exposure of mouse lungs for 5 minutes produced a 3-fold increase in (125)I-anti-ICAM-1 monoclonal antibody (mAb) binding and (111)In oxine-labeled PMN sequestration, as well as Src activation, ICAM-1 Tyr518 phosphorylation, and phospho- Tyr518-ICAM-1 coimmunoprecipitation with actin. The response was absent in Nox2(-/-) lungs or following Src inhibition. In COS-7 cells transfected with wild-type (WT), phospho-defective (Tyr518Phe), or phospho-mimicking (Tyr518Asp) mouse ICAM-1 cDNA constructs, TNFα increased the B(max) of YN1/1.7.4 anti-ICAM-1 mAb binding to WT-ICAM-1 but not to Tyr518Phe-ICAM-1, indicating increased binding avidity secondary to ICAM-1 phosphorylation. This effect was mimicked by expression of the Tyr518Asp-ICAM-1 mutant. TNFα also increased the staining intensity and cell surface clustering of YN1/1.7.4 mAb-labeled WT-ICAM-1 that colocalized with F-actin, which was not observed with Tyr518Phe-ICAM-1 but was recapitulated with Tyr518Asp-ICAM-1. Finally, overexpression of ICAM-1 in mouse lungs significantly increased lipopolysaccharide-induced transvascular albumin leakage and bronchoalveolar lavage PMN counts at 2 and 24 hours after lipopolysaccharide inhalation compared with lungs expressing the Tyr518Phe ICAM-1 mutant.
Src-dependent phosphorylation of endothelial cell ICAM-1 Tyr518 induces PMN adhesion by promoting ICAM-1 clustering, which we propose mediates rapid-phase lung vascular accumulation of PMNs during inflammation.
The promise of gene therapy for health care will not be realized until gene delivery systems are capable of achieving efficient, cell-specific gene delivery in vivo. Here we describe an adenoviral ...system for achieving cell-specific transgene expression in pulmonary endothelium. The combination of transductional targeting to a pulmonary endothelial marker (angiotensin-converting enzyme, ACE) and an endothelial-specific promoter (for vascular endothelial growth factor receptor type 1, flt-1) resulted in a synergistic, 300,000-fold improvement in the selectivity of transgene expression for lung versus the usual site of vector sequestration, the liver. This combined approach should be useful for the design of other gene delivery systems.

The paper estimates the tidal distances
between the components of wide binary stars (BS) in the Pleiades. We used data on the parameters of the Pleiades cluster and wide BSs in the Pleiades, obtained ...earlier from the Gaia DR2 data. Two models of a cluster are considered in the form of a gravitating sphere, homogeneous and inhomogeneous in density. Using the integrals of angular momentum and energy of the motion of the centers of mass of the BSs, two elliptical orbits and two open ‘‘rosette-like’’ trajectories of the centers of mass of the BSs relative to the center of mass of the three-body system (the BS components and the cluster) are constructed. For three bodies in a coordinate system nonuniformly rotating relative to their center of mass with the origin at the center of mass of the BS the equations of motion are written. For the model of a homogeneous cluster, a formula is obtained for the value
for a BS moving along an elliptical orbit. The integrals of angular momentum and energy of motion of the components of the BS and three bodies of the system are obtained. The sizes of the area under the surface of zero velocities (SZV) of the BS components along the axes of the coordinate system with the origin in the center of mass of the BS are estimated. It is shown that in the model of a homogeneous cluster, the sizes of the area under the SZV of the BS components in the pericenters of the considered orbits are smaller than in the apocenters, and on the inner and outer parts of the BS orbits there are restrictions on the size of the area under the SZV of the BS components that differ in number and magnitude. For the model of an inhomogeneous cluster, an equation is obtained for the quantity
for the BS moving along the ‘‘rosette’’ trajectory relative to the center of mass of three bodies. The quantities
are numerically determined for the BS at different points of two such trajectories. With the help of the energy integral
of the motion of three bodies, the sizes of the area under the SZV of the BS components are determined. With an increase in the distance of the center of mass of the BS from the center of mass of three bodies in the model of an inhomogeneous cluster, an increase in the size of the area under the SZV of the BS components was noted, as well as the existence of more complex restrictions on the size of this area than in a homogeneous cluster. Mutual distances
between the components of wide BSs in the Pleiades are between the maximum and minimum values of
for BSs on ‘‘rosette’’ trajectories. The increase in
with the distances
of the BS components from the center of the cluster is mainly due to the motion of the BS along its trajectories in the Pleiades. Other applications of the integral
for estimating the BS parameters in the Pleiades are also considered.
State of the art in the field of using biodegradable lubricating materials is considered, and data on recent achievements in their use are summarized. The major factors influencing the progress of ...studies in this field are associated with the environmental regulations becoming more and more stringent. Along with the use of poly(alkylene glycol) and ester liquids, raw materials of vegetable origin attract considerable interest of researchers developing biodegradable oils; cellulose can be used as a promising thickener for multipurpose lubricants.
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs), modified with manganese dioxide, were synthesized. Manganese dioxide was obtained by reduction of solution of potassium permanganate with formic acid solution or with carbon ...of nanotubes. Electrochemical characteristics of the oxygen electrodes containing manganese dioxide modified nanotubes in active layer were investigated. It was shown, that deposition of manganese dioxide on surface of carbon nanotubes results in improvement of electrochemical characteristics in comparison with manganese dioxide as a separate phase. The optimum mass content of manganese dioxide is 50% from the sum (carbon nanotubes

Food is an integral factor in ensuring the active life of older citizens. However, the range of meat products, including sausages for specialized nutrition, is extremely limited. In this regard, a ...technology of functionally oriented boiled sausage for gerodietetic nutrition "Gerodietetic functional" has been developed. The effectiveness of using a protein-fat emulsion containing a functional ingredient – iodine in the form of a complex compound β-cyclodextrin : iodine in the preparation of minced sausage has been proven. The functional and technological properties of combined minced meat, consisting of meat from productive animals and mechanically separated poultry meat with a protein-fat emulsion have been studied. The losses of microelements amounted to 12 % in key technological operations of meat product production have been studied. Based on the study of the iodine and protein content in the finished product, its functional orientation and characteristics as a product with high protein content have been established. Systematic consumption of "Gerodietetic functional" sausage will contribute to the health and longevity of older people.
Variational problems that arise in the course of minimization of the number of control points in coordinate measurements of the characteristics of form, orientation, and relative position of the ...geometric elements of articles is solved on the basis of analytic models of estimates of the errors under the condition of an upper bound on the value of the measurement error. The proposed methods of solution are illustrated by examples of planning of coordinate measurements of flatness, parallelism, and perpendicularity of planes, the distance between planes, the circularity parameters, and the coaxiality of cylinders.
The DANSS detector is located directly under the nuclear reactor at the Kalinin nuclear power plant. Such a position ensures about 50 m.w.e. shielding from cosmic rays in the vertical direction; as a ...result, the detector occupies an intermediate position between surface and underground detectors in the shielding from cosmic rays. The sensitive volume of the detector consisting of a 1-m

plastic scintillator is surrounded by the multilayer passive shielding and muon veto. The main aim of the DANSS experiment is to measure the antineutrino spectrum at various distances from the source. To this end, the detector is placed on a lifting platform in order to record data at three positions of 10.9, 11.9, and 12.9 m from the reactor core. The detector can reconstruct muon tracks passing through its sensitive volume. The pressure, temperature, and decay coefficients for muons in various regions of the zenith angle
have been determined from the muon data collected during four years using the effective generation level method.

Radiofrequency renal artery denervation (RND) was introduced as a method of interventional treatment of resistant hypertension almost ten years ago. The first studies demonstrated the effectiveness ...of this procedure. This has led to growing interest in this area and the rapid development of the method. However, the results of the first randomized trial of SYMPLICITY HTN-3 questioned the role of RND in the treatment of resistant hypertension, this fact conducted to the decrease in the recommendation class and level of evidence in the Guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology and the European Society of Hypertension in 2018. To date, the medical community is actively discussing the results of recently published trials such as SPYRAL HTN-OFF MED, SPYRAL HTN-ON MED, RADIANCE-HTN SOLO and RADIOSOUND-HTN.
