Recently, collaborative robots, known as cobots, gains incredible attraction because of their potential performance to multiple tasks with human workers, assisting useful tasks. Precise and simple ...control over the teaching pendant is a key issue when manipulating cobots. However, the beginners may more easily get stuck handling cobots with the teaching pendant in clear comparison with the experts. The teaching pendant that control cobots require ease of use as well as intuitive interfaces to modify existing execution programs. Unfortunately, up to now, systematic studies on establishing the standard or guideline for intuitive teaching pendants have not been reported. Furthermore, the usability of the various interfaces and systems available on the market is still poor. In this paper, we offer a more advanced route to teaching pendant of cobots that aims to improve the simplicity and efficiency of teaching for non-experts. Thus, an empirical study was conducted to evaluate the usability of cobots and teaching pendants. 30 participants consisting of beginners, intermediates and advanced participants (F=10, M=20, 34.75±2.50 years) were investigated for this study. In this experiment, Neuromeka's INDY 7 and CONTY, or a teaching pendant, were used. Each study was conducted for 60 minutes, including teaching tasks, interview, questionnaires and system usability scale (SUS). Our observation provides experimental results, commonly faced challenges, and proposed improvements such as simulations, help section, and teaching input method. The paper concludes by discussing future work, and suggested improvements for field workers.
In order for the intelligent assistant systems to provide users with timely and appropriate assistances, most of them focus on what is considered to be the "rational" aspect of the user behaviors. ...However, since human desire is the fundamental driving force of human behaviors, without including users' desires, the system cannot provide most appropriate responses. We propose a hierarchical desire inference process based on the Bayesian Belief Networks (BBNs), that considers the affective states, behavior contexts and environmental contexts of a user at given points in time to infer the user's desire. The inferred desire of the highest probability from the BBNs is then used in the follow-up decision making.
This paper describes the AEO Automated Platform for supply chain security. It is of particular importance to support AEO preparation and its management for AEO certificate. Furthermore, we present ...the methodologies to strengthen up supply chain security in logistics such as bonded warehouse, container inspection, etc.
This paper investigates the estimation of external force on robot manipulators. The issue is of great importance for the safety of human-robot collaborative tasks and for the human-robot interactive ...tasks. However, the estimation of external force using model-based approach suffers from model uncertainties and disturbances. It also requires a quick estimate when detecting a collision. To satisfy both fast convergence and robustness, composite observers are newly proposed, which is composed of sliding mode observers and polynomial observers based on momentum state. Through their complementary roles, a composite observer achieves improved performance in safety and estimation. The simulation results show the effectiveness and validity of the proposed composite momentum-based observers.
Zika virus (ZIKV) (genus
Flavivirus
, family
Flaviviridae
) is an emerging pathogen associated with microcephaly and Guillain-Barré syndrome. The rapid spread of ZIKV disease in over 60 countries and ...the large numbers of travel-associated cases have caused worldwide concern. Thus, intensified surveillance of cases among immigrants and tourists from ZIKV-endemic areas is important for disease control and prevention. In this study, using Next Generation Sequencing, we reported the first whole-genome sequence of ZIKV strain AFMC-U, amplified from the urine of a traveler returning to Korea from the Philippines. Phylogenetic analysis showed geographic-specific clustering. Our results underscore the importance of examining urine in the diagnosis of ZIKV infection.
