Social responsibility fulfilment is an important part of the operation management (OM) and competitiveness of the construction industry (CIC). This study investigates the mechanisms through which ...social responsibility fulfilment in the construction industry affects industry competitiveness and the mediating role of industry operations management. From the intra-organizational stakeholder perspective, social responsibility fulfilment (SR) is divided into two dimensions: shareholder-dimensional (SH) and employee-dimensional social responsibility fulfilment (EM). By analysing a panel of the construction industry in 12 provinces of China from 2015 to 2020, an inverted U-shaped relationship between social responsibility fulfilment and construction industry competitiveness and between shareholder-dimensional social responsibility fulfilment and construction industry competitiveness was found, while a U-shaped relationship between employee-dimensional social responsibility fulfilment and construction industry competitiveness was found. Furthermore, social responsibility fulfilment and shareholder-dimensional social responsibility fulfilment had significant effects on operation management. Additionally, the study concludes that operation management is positively related to construction industry competitiveness and plays a partially mediating role between social responsibility fulfilment and construction industry competitiveness. The findings enrich the theoretical basis of the relationship between social responsibility fulfilment and competitiveness and demonstrates important management significance for the construction industry in managing its social responsibility behaviour and improving industry competitiveness, thus promoting high-quality development of the construction industry.
Although it is suggested that materialism value leads to more purchase-evoked happiness, limited research has investigated the underlying mechanism of the relationship. The purpose of the paper is to ...fill the research gap, demonstrating how materialism increases purchase-evoked happiness. Two surveys with a student sample (n = 112) and an Amazon Mechanical Turk sample (n = 207) were conducted. Bootstrapping analysis was used to examine the data. The findings identify the mediating role of purchase's impact on self plays between materialism and purchase-evoked happiness, and reveal that purchase type (material vs. experiential purchase) moderates the mediation. For material purchases, higher-materialism value leads to more perceived impact of the purchases on self, which in turn, results in more purchase-evoked happiness. For experiential purchases, there is no such mediation effect of the purchases' impact on self between materialism and purchase-evoked happiness. This paper is the first research providing empirical support for materialists' belief that material possessions influence them personally and identifying the mechanism under which materialism increases purchase-evoked happiness. It expands the research on materialism and purchase type by showing that materialism as a personal value interplays with purchase type in influencing how happiness is obtained from purchases.
Diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) and cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) are both diseases that can seriously affect a patient's quality of life and generate economic pressure in society. Symptomatically, ...both DLU and CLE exhibit delayed healing and excessive inflammation; however, there is little evidence to support a molecular and cellular connection between these two diseases. In this study, we investigated potential common characteristics between DFU and CLE at the molecular level to provide new insights into skin diseases and regeneration, and identify potential targets for the development of new therapies. The gene expression profiles of DFU and CLE were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and used for analysis. A total of 41 common differentially expressed genes (DEGs), 16 upregulated genes and 25 downregulated genes, were identified between DFU and CLE. GO and KEGG analysis showed that abnormalities in epidermal cells and the activation of inflammatory factors were both involved in the occurrence and development of DFU and CLE. Based on these seven key genes, we further identified five miRNAs(has-mir-532-5p, has-mir-324-3p,has-mir-106a-5p,has-mir-20a-5p,has-mir-93-5p) and7 transcription factors including CEBPA, CEBPB, GLI1, EP30D, JUN,SP1, NFE2L2 as potential upstream molecules. Functional immune infiltration assays showed that these genes were related to immune cells. The CIBERSORT algorithm and Pearson method were used to determine the correlations between key genes and immune cells, and reverse key gene-immune cell correlations were found between DFU and CLE. Finally, the DGIbd database demonstrated that Paquinimod and Tasquinimod could be used to target S100A9 and Ribavirin could be used to target OASL. Our findings highlight common gene expression characteristics and signaling pathways between DFU and CLE, indicating a close association between these two diseases. This provides guidance for the development of targeted therapies and mutual interactions.
Colchicine, a natural compound extracted from Colchicum autumnale, is a phytotoxin, but interestingly, it also has multiple pharmacological activities. Clinically, colchicine is widely used for the ...treatment of gouty arthritis, familial Mediterranean fever, cardiovascular dysfunction and new coronary pneumonia. However, overdose intake of colchicine could cause lethal liver damage, which is a limitation of its application. Therefore, exploring the potential mechanism of colchicine-induced hepatotoxicity is meaningful. Interestingly, it was found that CYP1A1 played an important role in the hepatotoxicity of colchicine, while it might also participate in its metabolism. Inhibition of CYP1A1 could alleviate oxidative stress and pyroptosis in the liver upon colchicine treatment. By regulating CYP1A1 through the CASPASE-1-GSDMD pathway, colchicine-induced liver injury was effectively relieved in a mouse model. In summary, we concluded that CYP1A1 may be a potential target, and the inhibition of CYP1A1 alleviates colchicine-induced liver injury through pyroptosis regulated by the CASPASE-1-GSDMD pathway.

Results
Our findings reveal pronounced disparities in labor literacy across the identified dimensions, with particular deficiencies in labor concepts. The study also identifies six determinants—gender, political profile, academic performance, internship and training base utilization, inclination towards innovation and entrepreneurship, and labor education evaluation mechanisms—that significantly influence labor literacy outcomes.
Discussion
Highlighting the imperative for a contextually informed and holistic approach to labor literacy, this study's insights advocate for educational strategies that are both aligned with labor market demands and cognizant of socio-cultural nuances. The developed assessment model not only propels the theoretical discourse in vocational education forward but also provides a pragmatic guide for educators and policy makers, aiming to mitigate disparities and enhance labor competencies through refined educational practices.
Background Anxiety, depression, and sleep problems are prevalent comorbid mental disorders among university students. The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasized a mental health promotion ...objective, recommending the consideration of protective health-promoting factors in strategies aimed at preventing mental disorders. Integrating theoretically significant constructs (such as protective factors) enhances our comprehension of the intricate mechanisms that underpin mental disorders. This study employed network analysis to first identify core and bridge symptoms within comorbid mental disorders and then explore how health-promoting lifestyles (HPLs) were associated with these disorders. The ultimate goal is to offer health promotion recommendations to enhance students’ quality of life. Methods A total of 3,896 qualified university students participated in this study. Anxiety, depression, sleep problems, and HPLs were assessed using the GAD-7, PHQ-9, PSQI, and HPLP-II scales. A Gaussian Graphical Model was used to construct the networks. The Network Comparison Test was applied to determine whether the associations between HPLs and comorbid symptoms vary by gender, educational level, family sibling, and mental health status. Results Low energy (PHQ4) had the highest strength centrality, followed by Daytime dysfunction (PSQI7) and Trouble relaxing (GAD4). Five bridge symptoms were identified: Daytime dysfunction (PSQI7), Self-harm even suicide (PHQ9), Sad mood (PHQ2), Low energy (PHQ4), and Feeling afraid (GAD7). Regarding protective HPLs, Physical activity, Spiritual growth, and Stress management generally emerged as the top three central mental health-promoting behaviors. Conclusion Targeting core and bridge symptoms with timely and appropriate interventions can alleviate anxiety, depression, and sleep problems in this population. Moreover, promoting physical activity, fostering spiritual growth, and managing stress are likely to significantly enhance the overall mental health of university students.
An increasingly ubiquitous phenomenon on social media is that consumers create user-generated content (UGC) to display their purchases. This type of UGC is purchase-centered. The viewers of the UGC ...can include both close friends (strong ties) and acquaintances (weak ties). This paper conducted a series of five studies to fill research gaps about the relations between tie strength, purchase intention, and benign envy. The results of the first three studies consistently show that tie strength between the buyer and the viewers positively influences the viewers' feeling of benign envy, which in turn affects viewers' purchase intention toward the displayed purchase. Furthermore, two additional experiments identify purchase type as a moderator of the mediation effect. Specifically, benign envy mediates the effect when the purchase is a material one but not an experiential one. These findings not only reveal how the viewers of purchase-centered UGC are influenced by tie strength and benign envy, but also demonstrate the role of purchase type in the effect of purchase-centered UGC. This research extends multiple research streams including tie strength, social comparison, and purchase type. Additionally, this research provides important implications for the practices of advertising, UGC marketing, and influencer marketing.
Abstract Objective To determine the association between contraceptive use and intimate partner violence (IPV) in Sub-Saharan African women. Method The data analyzed were from national Demographic ...Health Surveys conducted between 2003 and 2006 in 6 Sub-Saharan African countries: Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Women of childbearing age completed surveys regarding the use of contraception and about their experience of physical, emotional, and sexual violence inflicted by their partners. Analyses were conducted using logistic regression. Results Of the 24 311 women who responded to the violence modules, 39.8% reported that they had experienced IPV. Women who had experienced IPV were significantly more likely to report that they had used contraception compared with women who had not experienced IPV (odds ratio 1.30; 95% confidence interval, 1.22–1.38). Conclusion Intimate partner violence appears to be associated with increased contraception use in the African setting. Among women who have experienced IPV, modern contraception is used more commonly than traditional and folkloric contraceptive methods.
