In the present Article, the Kelvin probe method for surface potential measurement is introduced to study polyelectrolyte multilayer coatings deposited on silicon plates. Metal−insulator−semiconductor ...(MIS) structures with polyelectrolyte layers as insulator were fabricated. The polyelectrolyte layer deposition on the surface of silicon plates led to a change of the current−voltage characteristics connected with resistance changes of the MIS structures. Poly(ethylenimine) (PEI) monolayer formation resulted in resistance decrease, and the following increase of the polyelectrolyte layer number led to MIS structure resistance increase. The results are interpreted as an interplay between accumulation of majority carriers (electrons) near the semiconductor surface and resistance increase due to insulating polyelectrolyte adsorption, and both effects can be discriminated by varying the polyelectrolyte layer thickness.
Diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis is not associated with any difficulties in patients with CT signs of pancreatic duct stones as a rule. However, 'classical' picture of chronic pancreatitis is ...usually absent in case of predominant protein matrix in the calculi. Two cases of X-ray-negative pancreatic dust stones in patients with protein stones of the pancreatic duct are reported.
It is presented surgical treatment of the patient with pancreatic intraductal papillary mucinous tumor who was under observation with diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis for a long time. Recurrent ...tumor with possible malignant transformation to carcinoma was suspected in 5 years after pancreaticoduodenectomy. It was supposed to perform pancreatic stump extirpation. Redo surgery did not reveal any tumor. The cause of recurrent pain was pancreatic duct obliteration at the level of anastomosis.
A process has been described for obtaining polymer (polyelectrolyte) microcapsules and polyelectrolyte/magnetite composite microcapsules, as well as silica-based hybrid capsules via silane-type ...precursor hydrolysis, which gives rise to the formation of silica nanoparticles in the structures of shells containing different numbers of polymer layers. The polymer and nanocomposite microcapsules have been formed by successive adsorption of oppositely charged polyelectrolytes and/or nanoparticles on the surface of microparticles of vaterite, which is a polymorphous modification of calcium carbonate. The obtained shells of microcapsules of all types have been studied by atomic force microscopy, confocal fluorescence microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy before and after sonication. The effect of high-intensity focused ultrasound on the obtained samples of microcapsules has been investigated and the sonication parameters that ensure efficient disruption of their shells in an aqueous medium have been determined. It has been found that composite microcapsules containing magnetite nanoparticles in their shells are most sensitive to sonication. The obtained composite microcapsules are promising for developing new systems for delivery of biologically active substances and multifunctional coatings.
A high statistics data sample of the decays of Formula omitted mesons to three charged particles was accumulated by the OKA experiment in 2012 and 2013. This allowed to select a clean sample of about ...450 events with Formula omitted decays with the energy of the photon in the kaon rest frame greater than 30 MeV. The measured branching fraction of the Formula omitted, with Formula omitted is equal to Formula omitted. The measured differential branching fraction over photon energy is compared with the prediction of the chiral perturbation theory to Formula omitted. A search for an up-down asymmetry of the photon with respect to the hadronic system decay plane is also performed.
A precise measurement of the vector and axial-vector form factors difference Formula omitted in the Formula omitted decay is presented. About 95K events of Formula omitted are selected in the OKA ...experiment. The result is Formula omitted. Both errors are smaller than in the previous Formula omitted measurements.
We report on 318 patients with acute leukemia, receiving donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI) in complete hematologic remission (CHR) after allogeneic stem cell transplantation (alloSCT). DLI were applied ...preemptively (preDLI) for minimal residual disease (MRD, n = 23) or mixed chimerism (MC, n = 169), or as prophylaxis in high-risk patients with complete chimerism and molecular remission (proDLI, n = 126). Median interval from alloSCT to DLI1 was 176 days, median follow-up was 7.0 years. Five-year cumulative relapse incidence (CRI), non-relapse mortality (NRM), leukemia-free and overall survival (LFS/OS) of the entire cohort were 29.1%, 12.7%, 58.2%, and 64.3%. Cumulative incidences of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGvHD) grade II-IV°/chronic GvHD were 11.9%/31%. Nineteen patients (6%) died from DLI-induced GvHD. Age ≥60 years (p = 0.046), advanced stage at transplantation (p = 0.003), shorter interval from transplantation (p = 0.018), and prior aGvHD ≥II° (p = 0.036) were risk factors for DLI-induced GvHD. GvHD did not influence CRI, but was associated with NRM and lower LFS/OS. Efficacy of preDLI was demonstrated by decreasing MRD/increasing blood counts in 71%, and increasing chimerism in 70%. Five-year OS after preDLI for MRD/MC was 51%/68% among responders, and 37% among non-responders. The study describes response and outcome of DLI in CHR and helps to identify candidates without increased risk of severe GvHD.
Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) has been explored as a target for molecular imaging of prostate cancer and other malignancies that express PSMA in their tumor-associated neovasculature. ...Although several PSMA-targeted radiotracers labeled with a variety of radionuclides have been reported, positron-emitting radiotracers labeled with
F are of particular interest. One such compound, the small molecule PSMA inhibitor
FDCFPyL, has demonstrated initial success. This article reviews the literature on this radiotracer, including radiosynthetic approaches to the molecule, data that are available from preclinical experiments, and evidence to date of the clinical utility of this agent in prostate cancer and clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
► P. pulmonarius was grown in submerged cultured using different carbon sources. ► The mycelia yield varied depending on the culture medium carbon source. ► Samples grown with xylose and arabinose ...had high protein content of above than 19%. ► All cultured biomass showed to be composed mainly of unsaturated fatty acids. ► Exopolysaccharides fractions showed as main structures glucans and mannogalactans.
For many years mushrooms have been consumed and appreciated by their nutritional value, and medicinal properties. The traditional mushroom cultivation takes too long and the macrofungi biotechnology has not been explored in its full potential yet. The goal of this work was to observe if different carbon sources could improve the yield and diversify fungi nutrient composition in submerged culture.
Pleurotus pulmonarius mycelia and exopolysacharide productions were evaluated using glucose, galactose, xylose and arabinose. The mycelia yield varied depending on the culture medium, and galactose showed to be the best carbon source to produce EPS. Samples that showed the highest protein contents were grown with xylose (19.44%) and arabinose (26.05%). Furthermore, the biomass cultivated with these carbohydrates and with galactose showed five essential amino acids. All cultured biomass showed low lipid contents (∼1%), being composed mainly of unsaturated fatty acids. All EPS fractions showed as main structures glucans and mannogalactans.
