The present study aims to investigate the effectiveness of Research Based Learning (RBL) in improving students' learning achievement in solving two dimensional arithmetic sequence problems. The study ...applied triangulation method including qualitative and quantitative methods. The research subjects were 4th-semester students of higher education. The quantitative method was applied to analyse the learning achievement test, while the qualitative one was applied in the form of observation and interview. The collected data were analysed by using inferential statistics t-test. The result of t-test indicates that the sig (2-tailed) of independent sample t-test of pre-test is 0.853 (p>0,05), thus it is not significant. It implies the two classes are homogeneous in term of student achievement test. The data analysis of independent sample t-test of post-test, the sig (2-tailed) is 0.00 (p=<0,05), thus it is significant. It implies that the student achievement tests of two classes are different after the implementation of RBL. It shows that the students' achievement result of experimental class is better than the control class. The implementation of RBL is proven effective in improving students learning achievement in solving two-dimensional arithmetic problems.
This research study investigated the effects of Learning Together model of group learning on students' mathematics achievement and attitudes toward mathematics, and identified teachers' perception on ...the implementation of Learning Together in secondary mathematics classrooms in Natore, Bangladesh. The mood of triangulation, a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods for data collection and data analysis, was employed in the study. Data were collected using students' mathematics achievement test, attitudes toward mathematics questionnaire and teachers' interview. The independent-sample t-test was used to analyse the quantitative data while the content analysis was used to analyse the qualitative data. The results showed that the effects of Learning Together on students' mathematics achievement and attitudes toward mathematics were significant, and the teachers' perception on the implementation of Learning Together was positive. The findings revealed that Learning Together model contributed to the development of students' mathematical performance due to proper formation of groups, group members' cooperation to each other's learning and their sincerity to teachers' incentives during the treatment period.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan mengidentifikasi kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal sharing task dan jumping task pada materi aritmatika sosial ...berdasarkan kriteria Watson ditinjau dari tipe kepribadian DISC. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data didapatkan dari soal sharing task, jumping task, tes tipe kepribadian DISC, dan wawancara. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIIIF SMP Negeri 4 Jember, yang terdiri dari 12 siswa dengan rincian 12 siswa mengerjakan soal sharing task dan 8 siswa mengerjakan soal jumping task. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini yakni tipe kepribadian dominance, influence, steadiness, dan compliance sama-sama melakukan kesalahan Innapropriate Procedure/IP, Response Level Conflict/RLC and Skill Hierarchy Problems/SHP. Kemudian untuk kesalahan Undirected Manipulation/UM, yang melakukan kesalahan adalah tipe kepribadian dominance, influence, dan steadiness. Tipe kepribadian Influence, steadiness, dan compliance juga melakukan kesalahan Innapropriate Data/ ID dan Above Other/ AO. Terakhir, tipe kepribadian steadiness melakukan kesalahan yaitu Omitted Data / OD.
This study aims to study the effectiveness of jumping task application based on creative problem solving in improving students' problem-solving abilities. The study was applied triangulation method, ...namely qualitative and quantitative methods. The research subject is eighth grade of Junior High School students. The research sample consists of three classes taken by applying cluster random sampling method. The qualitative research sample includes two students from experimental class, determined by purposive sampling based on their most unique answers. Data was obtained from pre-test and post-test on solving a problem sheet and also from an interview result. It implies the student problem solving tests of three classes are differences after the implementation of jumping task based on creative problem solving (CPS). The result of students' work and interview are analysed by qualitative method. It shows that the students' problem-solving abilities in mathematics learning with jumping task based on CPS is better than students' problem-solving abilities in mathematics learning with sharing task based on CPS, and students' problem-solving abilities in mathematics learning with sharing task based on CPS is better than students' problem-solving abilities in conventional model.
The provision of jumping tasks (JT) is an effort to improve students' problem-solving abilities. Descriptive qualitative research was conducted to describe and analyze students' ability to solve ...mathematical problems, both in the field-dependent cognitive style (FD) and independent field (FI). JT is a high-level question, C4-C6, in Bloom's taxonomy on the Three Variable Linear Equation System topic. The subjects in this study were students of class X MIPA 1 of SMA Negeri 4 Jember with 30 students consisting of 5 FD students and 25 FI students. The data collection method uses tests (JT questions) and interviews. The results showed the differences in FD and FI subjects' ability in the stages of carrying out the plan of completion and re-checking, i.e., the FI subject had better solving ability than the FD subject in the stage of planning the completion and re-checking. In contrast, at the other Polya stages, there were no differences.
This study aims to analyse the outcomes of establishing valid, practical, effective Hybrid Learning tools based on Lesson Study for Learning Community (LSLC) and their impact on students' ...metacognitive abilities. Research and Development (R D) and experimental research are used to conduct the study. The research subjects are consisted of three classes of 7th grade students. Collaborative Learning and Learning Community are implemented which are the components of LSLC. The 4-D model, which includes define, design, develop, and disseminate, is used to develop learning tools. Lesson plans, worksheets, and a metacognition ability test were created as a result of the research and met the criteria of being of valid, practical, and effective. Based on experimental research, there is a significant effect of Hybrid Learning tools based on Lesson Study for Learning Community on students' metacognitive abilities with p-value of 0.001 (sig 0.05).Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hasil pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran Hybrid Learning berbasis Lesson Study for Learning Community yang valid, praktis, efektif dan menganlisis pengaruhnya terhadap kemampuan metakognisi siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode penelitian kombinasi atau mix method. Penelitian ini menggabungkan dua bentuk penelitian yaitu penelitian pengembangan (research and development) dan penelitian eksperimen. Subjek penelitian dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga kelas siswa VII yang terdiri dari kelas uji coba, kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Komponen Lesson Study for Learning Community yang diterapkan yaitu Collaborative Learning dan Learning Community. Proses pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran dilaksanakan melalui 4-D yaitu pendefinisian, perancangan, pengembangan dan penyebaran. Hasil pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran Hybrid Learning berbasis Lesson Study for Learning Community berupa RPP, LKS dan tes kemampuan metakognisi siswa yang valid, praktis dan efektif. Berdasarkan penelitian eksperimen dan observasi, terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan perangkat pembelajaran Hybrid Learning berbasis Lesson Study for Learning Community terhadap kemampuan metakognisis siswa dengan nilai signifikasi 0.001 .
Arithmetics is one of the topics in Mathematics, which deals with logic and detailed process upon generalizing formula. Creativity and flexibility are needed in generalizing formula of arithmetics ...series. This research aimed at analyzing students creative thinking skills in generalizing arithmetic series. The triangulation method and research-based learning was used in this research. The subjects were students of the Master Program of Mathematics Education in Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Jember University. The data was collected by giving assignments to the students. The data collection was done by giving open problem-solving task and documentation study to the students to arrange generalization pattern based on the dependent function formula i and the function depend on i and j. Then, the students finished the next problem-solving task to construct arithmetic generalization patterns based on the function formula which depends on i and i + n and the sum formula of functions dependent on i and j of the arithmetic compiled. The data analysis techniques operative in this study was Miles and Huberman analysis model. Based on the result of data analysis on task 1, the levels of students creative thinking skill were classified as follows; 22,22% of the students categorized as "not creative"; 38.89% of the students categorized as "less creative" category; 22.22% of the students categorized as "sufficiently creative"; and 16.67% of the students categorized as "creative". By contrast, the results of data analysis on task 2 found that the levels of students creative thinking skills were classified as follows; 22.22% of the students categorized as "sufficiently creative", 44.44% of the students categorized as "creative"; and 33.33% of the students categorized as "very creative". This analysis result can set the basis for teaching references and actualizing a better teaching model in order to increase students creative thinking skills.
This research aimed to analyze the students' metacognition through jumping task based on lesson study for the learning community. This research is qualitative descriptive research. Data collection ...was done by observation, tests, interviews, think aloud and documentation. The test was given to students when an open class in class VIII of MTs Miftahul Hidayah. From the test results, students were grouped into three based on their level of ability. Two students were selected from each group to be interviewed and deepened through thinking aloud technique. Two students were selected from each group to be interviewed and deepened through thinking aloud technique. Data analysis is in the form of data induction and reduction theory. The results showed that students who had good metacognitive knowledge skills became effective and efficient when they were applying metacognitive control skills. Hence, the students who had poor metacognitive knowledge skills, they experienced difficulties when they were applying metacognitive control skills. The contribution of jumping tasks based on lesson study for learning community is very helpful in enhancing students' metacognition abilities and skills to individually, in groups and classically.
