The deficit of National Health Insurance (NHI) in Taiwan would be about NT$ 62 billion dollars in the end of 2011. Nevertheless, if we keep the current premium rate, 5.17%, the ...deficit of NHI would be grown to NT$ 1,491 billion dollars in the end of 2016, said from “The Actuarial Report of NHI premium rate in 2011”. The Executive Yuan of Taiwan set the second generation program of NHI planning team in 2001. The new program was scheduled to implement originally in 2012. However, due to many uncertainties, they decide to delay to implement until 2013.
The new program is dual fee-based, including not only the normal fee, as in the first version of program, but also the extra fee. The extra fee will based on year-end bonuses higher than your 4-months pay, implementation of the business income, dividend income, interest income, rental income and part-time income, etc.
