In the context of a large-scale molecular epidemiology study, the possible immunomodulatory effects of mineral fibres, in workers occupationally exposed to asbestos, rockwool and glass fibres, were ...examined. In each plant, 61, 98 and 80 exposed workers and 21, 43 or 36 control clerical subjects, respectively, were recruited. In the case of the asbestos-exposed subjects, an additional town-control group of 49 people was included. Evidence of pulmonary fibrosis was found in 42% of the asbestos-exposed workers, while evidence of pleural fibrosis was found in 24%. The asbestos-exposed cohort had significantly decreased forced vital capacity of lungs as well as forced expiratory volume per first second. Our findings indicate that exposure to all three types of fibres examined modulates to different degrees the immune response. Suppression of T-cell immunity and to a lesser extent, B-cell immunity was found in the case of workers from a former asbestos cement plant, while stimulation of T-cell response was observed in rockwool workers, and stimulation of T- and B-cell response was seen in glass fibre workers. Depression of the percentage of lymphocyte subpopulation of CD 16+56 (natural killer cells) in peripheral blood was found in glass fibre workers. Statistical analysis showed increased levels of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-6 asbestos; IL-8 all three fibres), expression of adhesion molecule L-selectin on granulocytes and monocytes (asbestos), levels of soluble adhesion molecules (SAMs) in sera (ICAM-1 all three fibres; E-selectin glass fibres), increased levels of immunoglobulin E (asbestos and rockwool) and elevated expression of activation markers on eosinophils (CD66b asbestos, glass fibres; CD69 asbestos). Significant correlations were observed between lymphocyte proliferation and markers of DNA damage and repair. Increased levels of proinflammatory cytokines, SAMs, immunoglobulin E and elevated expression of activation markers on eosinophils was found in people with symptoms of hypersensitivity and an elevated inflammatory status.

The pedological information system is kept and permanently updated by the Soil Science and Conservation Research Institute. During the last 15-20 years, the conditions for linkage of the pedological information system with the systems of other institutions (e.g. Research Institute of Economics of Agriculture and Food Production, Land Register) were created. The GIS is earth related, it introduces a lot of different professional information linked with many organisations. From this, a requirement of content and terminological unification follows. Linkage of the base system, database and methodology makes it possible for user to use the professional data of soil information system. It is a significant component of other possible applications.

Soil erodibility - is a function of the soil ability: to absorb water, to minimise surface runoff and to act as soil resistance against falling raindrops and water flux. Soil structure stability and ...its texture are useful indicators of the soil capability to resist erosion. Heavy clayey soils can be structurally labile to falling raindrops and quick water logging as well as they frequently include easily releasable and transportable soil particles causing high erodibility of the soil. Dispersed - saline soils are also highly vulnerable to the soil erosion. However, the soils with high amount of organic matter are less erosive than those with low organic matter content.
The Cooperative Game Theory is a scientific discipline which offers rich mathematical apparatus for describing complex situations in the social reality. Its apparatus includes an extension to ...hierarchical structures and therefore can be applied to numerous research problems from the International Relations field. However, a cooperative game theoretical approach is very scarcely used. The main goal of the diploma thesis is to demonstrate, on the research problem of decision making in participation in local conflicts, the benefits of results that can be achieved by the application of the Cooperative Game Theory. In the first part of the thesis, theoretical foundations are laid and basic concepts are introduced. The second part is focused on forming a series of models of cooperative games with hierarchical structures from four local conflict situations, which are subsequently restricted in order to describe authoritative relations in structure. Restricted games are solved, the results are interpreted and evaluation of how these results can contribute to addressing the research problem follows.

Coeliac disease is presently considered to be an autoimmune disorder. Basis for the diagnosis is the invasive histochemical examination of the intestinal biopsy. Due to the autoimmune process, the patients serum levels of the specific and nonspecific antibodies, more which easily accessible to investigation, are increase.
One hundred thirty six probands (32 with coeliakia, 72 with other gastrointestinal disorders and 32 healthy ones) were included into the study. The antiendomysial, antireticular and antigliadin antibodies were examined. Results were compared with the histological finding in the gut sample. The highest sensitivity was found for antigliadin IgA antibodies (81%) and antiendomysial antibodies (75%). High specificity of the reaction in healthy subjects as well as in those with other gastrointestinal disorders (up to 100%), was found for antiendomysial and antireticular antibodies.
The most appropriate screening test the diagnosis of coeliac disease, appears to be the examination of the antigliadin antibodies of the class IgA and that of antiendomysial antibodies. On the basis of serology, today's high rate of underdiagnosing the disease can be prevented. However, the tests cannot differentiate between different degrees of the histological damage of the gut.
