The NA62 experiment at CERN collected a large sample of charged kaon decays in ight with a minimum bias trigger in 2007. Upper limits on the rate of the charged kaon decay into a muon and a heavy ...neutral lepton (HNL) obtained from this data are reported for a range of HNL masses. The NA62 experiment has collected further data in 2015 with a completely new and improved detector. New limits on heavy neutrinos from kaon decays into electron and HNL will be presented.
Affinity chromatography was used to study an interaction of aspartic proteinases with immobilized aromatic amino acids and their derivatives. The following ligands were used:
l-tyrosine, 3-iodo-
...l-tyrosine, 3,5-diiodo-
l-tyrosine,
l-phenylalanine,
p-iodo-
l-phenylalanine and
N-acetyl-
l-phenylalanine. With the exception of the last one, ligands were coupled directly to divinyl sulfone activated Sepharose 4B. For the preparation of immobilized
N-acetyl-
l-phenylalanine, divinyl sulfone activated Sepharose 4-B with linked ethylene diamine was used. Porcine pepsin was used for the evaluation of the capacity of the prepared affinity carriers. The capacity of the immobilized amino acid derivatives significantly increased in comparison with the non-derivatized amino acids. The prepared immobilized ligands were further used for the separation of human pepsinogens.

While mites are able to utilize numerous food sources, the suitability of the food strongly influences population growth. The different suitabilities of various stored agricultural products will thus ...affect the level of infestation. In this study, we compared field mite infestation rates in two stored cereals: wheat and barley. We analyzed mite abundance, frequency and species composition in samples of grain obtained from 79 selected Czech grain stores. Stored barley seemed to be more vulnerable to mite attack than wheat, as we consistently found more infested samples, more species and higher mean and median mite abundance per sample in barley as compared to wheat. The mean mite abundance per sample were 55 and 506 individuals for wheat and barley, respectively. In barley, 10% of samples exceeded allergen risk threshold (i.e., 1 000 individuals per kg of grain). Altogether, 25 species were identified from approximately 35 000 individuals. The most frequently identified species were the same in wheat and barley, that is, Tydeus interruptus Sig Thor, Acarus siro L., Tarsonemus granarius Lindquist, Lepidoglyphus destructor (Schrank) and Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Schrank). Based on principal components analysis, we found a closer association of T. interruptus, T. putrescentiae, L. destructor and Cheyletus eruditus (Schrank) with barley samples, corresponding to the high frequency and abundance values of these mites. The probable reasons for the higher infestation, especially mite abundance in barley, are discussed in relation to the higher proportion of crushed parts, which may release favorable nutrient sources and amplify the abundance values.
Cobalt binding proteins from mouse liver, which were expressed in response to CoCl
2 poisoning, were separated using gel permeation chromatography and then immobilised metal ion affinity ...chromatography (IMAC) with immobilized cobalt ions. Conditions used in IMAC-Co
2+ were optimised. The fractions eluted with 60
mM imidazole were analysed by sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS–PAGE). Differences between the samples were also evaluated by a two-dimensional electrophoresis. Samples from the Co
2+-treated mice provided higher number of electrophoretic spots than those from the untreated mice. Relative molecular masses of these proteins are appropriately 37,000; 32,000 and 26,000 and their isoelectric points (p
I) are 6.5–7.5.
The intensity of antibody responses and level of protection against challenge infection induced byActinobacillus pleuropneumoniae(APP) were compared in piglets vaccinated intramuscularly with ...different vaccination doses of a subunit vaccine. Secondary antibody responses to APP exotoxins induced by the intradermally administered diluted vaccines did not differ from those induced by undiluted vaccines administered either intradermally or intramuscularly. The level of protection measured by the clinical course of challenge infection to the extent of lung lesions was significantly higher in animals vaccinated with a three-time diluted vaccine in comparison with animals that were administered intramuscularly or intradermally with the most concentrated or the most diluted vaccines.

In 2017, NA62 recorded over a petabyte of raw data, collecting around a billion events per day of running. Data are collected in bursts of 3-5 seconds, producing output files of a few gigabytes. A ...typical run, a sequence of bursts with the same detector configuration and similar experimental conditions, contains 1500 bursts and constitutes the basic unit for offline data processing. A sample of 100 random bursts is used to make timing calibrations of all detectors, after which every burst in the run is reconstructed. Finally the reconstructed events are filtered by physics channel with an average reduction factor of 20, and data quality metrics are calculated.
Initially a bespoke data processing solution was implemented using a simple finite state machine with limited production system functionality. In 2017, the ATLAS Tier-0 team offered the use of their production system, together with the necessary support. Data processing workflows were rewritten with better error-handling and I/O operations were minimised, the reconstruction software was improved and conditions data handling was changed to follow best practices suggested by the HEP Software Foundation conditions database working group. This contribution describes the experience gained in using these tools and methods for data-processing on a petabyte scale experiment.

Because of the creation and enlargement of the Eurozone, the importance of monetary integration is increasing and is the subject of a number of theoretical and empirical studies. The adoption of a ...common currency has to be accompanied by financial market integration. The aim of the paper is to assess the relationship between financial and trade integration in the EU member countries (divided into three subsamples: EU27, EU10, and EU17) over the period 1993-2012 (and two subperiods 1993-2007 and 2008-2012). We use quantity-based measures of financial integration derived from the countries' international investment positions with a view to the foreign trade and the method of correlation analysis (including the moving correlation method). We conclude that the progress in financial integration was smaller in the EU10 countries compared to the EU16 countries, i.e. the pace of financial integration was higher in the EU16 countries than in the EU10 countries. The process of trade integration in all EU countries was not as fast as the process of financial integration. We also conclude that there is a linear association between financial and trade integration in the pre-crisis period (1993-2007), especially in the EU10 countries (compared to the EU16 countries). However, this relationship was seriously weakened by the financial crisis. Financial and trade integration are interconnected processes and should not be assessed separately. However, world trade (and thus financial integration) can be undermined by limiting trade finance as a result of tightening financial regulation and supervision after a decade of loose regulation and supervision (e.g. by the implementation of the Basel III capital framework).
In this paper we present new results on upper limits for the search of Heavy Neutral Leptons (HNL) with data collected by NA48/2 (2003-2004), NA62-RK (2007) and NA62 (2015) CERN experiments. The data ...collected with different trigger configuration allow to search for both long and short living heavy neutrinos in the mass range below the kaon mass. In addition the status of the search for
