Daily growth rate of juvenile anchovy, Engraulis encrasicolus (Linnaeus, 1758), was estimated in the south-eastern Adriatic Sea. Samples were taken by a commercial beach seine net and the size range ...of 100 sampled individuals was 5.0-6.8 cm total length. Age was estimated by counting growth increments of sagittal otoliths, which are formed with daily periodicity. Estimated ages were 41 - 90 days and hatch date for each age class was back-calculated from the date of capture. The calculated instantaneous growth rate was 0.41 mm day super(-1). Fish size at metamorphosis from late larva to juvenile was estimated to 3.2 cm total length. Parameters of the von Bertalanffy's growth function were L sub( proportional to ) = 10.41 and K = 3.36.Original Abstract: Dnevna stopa rasta juvenilnog incuna, Engraulis encrasicolus (Linnaeus, 1758), procijenjena je u jugoistocnom Jadranu.
A stock of pink shrimp was assumed in the boundaries of the whole GSA18, lacking specific information on stock identification. In the southern Adriatic deep water, pink shrimp is distributed mostly ...between 30 m and 600 m depth, although it is more abundant between 200 m and 400 m depth. This year, an attempt with Extended Survivors Analysis has been made, given that the time series covers the mean life span at least one time. Estimates of growth parameters were achieved using DCF data through the analysis of length frequency distributions and von Bertalanffy model. Production data for Italy was derived from 2007 to 2012 from the DCF; for Albania, from 2008 to 2011; and for Montenegro, from 2008 to 2011. Most part (59.9%) of the total production in the GSA is exerted by the Italian fleet, while Montenegrin trawlers account only for about 2.5% of the F exerted on the GSA and for Albanian trawlers, about 37.6%.
This paper aims to provide information on some important biological parameters (length–weight relationship, size at first maturity, gonadosomatic index) of Illex coindetii from the eastern part of ...South Adriatic, which can complement information on this species available from other sources. The samples were taken in period from September 2009 to August 2010, obtained from fishermen upon landing, and further processed in laboratory. The length was measured to the nearest mm, and the total body weight and weight of gonads (using a precise electronic balance) to the nearest 0.01 g. In conclusion: The data presented in this paper differs somewhat from the data reported in previous research in the Adriatic Sea (Ceriola et al., 2006, Petrić et al., 2010) (Tables 5–6). While the general lack of data regarding I. coindetii (and practically all other cephalopod species) in Montenegrin waters since the 1980s (Mandić, 1984.) makes any kind of new information valuable, it is still necessary to further research biological parameters of this species due to its significant economical value and its abundance in the catch.
the aim of this paper is to investigate some biological aspects of T. mediterraneus such as length-weight relationship, length frequency distribution, sex ratio, size at first maturity in Montenegrin ...territorial waters. Conclusions: Some biological aspects of Trachurus mediterraneus has been studied for the first time in the Montenegrin coast (South Adriatic Sea). These results will provide the basis for future stock assessment and management studies on this species.
In this paper the size-frequency distribution by sexes and for the whole sample of Norway lobster Nephrops norvegicus (Linnaeus, 1758) as well as the sex raio have been analyzed. Representative ...subsamples were collected during the four sesonally trawl surveys (summer 2009 – spring 2010) at depths from 330 to 350 m. Total number of analyzed individuals was 303. The carapace length (CL) of the all individuals ranged from 20 to 58mm while the female carapace length-range was 20-56mm and 22-58mm for males. in all seasons males were larger than females and highly represented in the catch in bigger size classes. The overall sex ratio during the investigation period was in favor of females (1.3:1).
A length-weight relationship (LW) for five cephalopod species, of which three decapod (Illex coindetii, Loligo vulgaris, Sepia officianlis) and two octopod species (Eledone cirrhosa, Eledone ...moschata) is given in this paper. The mean exponent b was found to be significantly lower than 3.

Conference Proceeding
At the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008, the Institute of Marine Biology Kotor (Montenegro) received unusual reports from Budva and Bar fishermen regarding certain fish species they have not ...encountered before. After a thorough examination at the Institute, it was determined that the species in question were the bluespotted cornetfish (Fistularia commersonii Rüppel, 1835) and the blunthead puffer (Sphoeroides pachygaster, Müller and Troschel, 1848), both allochthonous species and — until now — unknown in this part of the Adriatic Sea. Fistularia commersonii is a lessepsian migrant that came to the Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea from the Red Sea through the Suez Canal. Sphoeroides pachygaster, a tropical species with poisonous internal organs, is classified as an east– Atlantic migrant species, which denotes species that arrived to the Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea though the Strait of Gibraltar.
MEDITS is the fishery research project launched in 1993 with the aim to estimate the state of demersal resources in the Mediterranean. Montenegro was included into this project in 2007. Research was ...carried out in July 2008 at depths ranging from 10 to 800 m. Among thirty referent, target species were four Decapoda species, and one of them was a deep-water pink shrimp Parapenaeus longirostris (Lucas, 1846). The Crustacea Decapoda group contributed for 8.33% in abundance, and the 2.48% in biomass to the total catch. Deep-water pink shrimp was the most abundant and had the highest biomass value in the 200-500 m stratum.
The paper presents results of studies of biology and fisheries of red mullet (Mullus barbatus, L.) which was done within the frame of AdriaMed Trawl survey Project 2007/08. The Project encompassed ...monthly research of several target species in trawl fisheries of Montenegrin waters during one year in three most important fisheries ports in Montenegro (Bar, Budva and Herceg Novi). Total length of red mullet ranged from 9.1 to 21.5 cm with an average value of 15.1 cm. Length frequency distribution, length-weight relationship and sex ratio were analyzed.
