We present updated results on time-dependent CP asymmetries in fully reconstructed B0->D(*)+-pi-+ and B0->D+-rho-+ decays in approximately 232 million Y(4S)->BBbar events collected with the BaBar ...detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. From a time-dependent maximum likelihood fit we obtain for the parameters related to the CP violation angle 2beta+gamma: a^{D\pi} = -0.010 +/- 0.023 +/- 0.007, c_{\rm lep}^{D\pi} = -0.033 +/- 0.042 +/- 0.012, a^{D^*\pi} = -0.040 +/- 0.023 +/- 0.010, c_{\rm lep}^{D^*\pi} = 0.049 +/- 0.042 +/- 0.015, a^{D\rho} = -0.024 +/- 0.031 +/- 0.009, c_{\rm lep}^{D\rho} = -0.098 +/- 0.055 +/- 0.018, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. Using other measurements and theoretical assumptions, we interpret the results in terms of the angles of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity triangle and find |sin(2beta+gamma)| > 0.64 (0.40) at 68% (90%) confidence level.
The photon spectrum in the inclusive electromagnetic radiative decays of the B meson, B → X s γ plus B → X d γ , is studied using a data sample of ( 382.8 ± 4.2 ) × 10 6 Υ ( 4 S ) → B ¯¯¯ B decays ...collected by the BABAR experiment at SLAC. The spectrum is used to extract the branching fraction B ( B → X s γ ) = ( 3.21 ± 0.33 ) × 10 − 4 for E γ > 1.8 GeV and the direct C P asymmetry A C P ( B → X s + d γ ) = 0.057 ± 0.063 . The effects of detector resolution and Doppler smearing are unfolded to measure the photon energy spectrum in the B meson rest frame.
(ProQuest: ... denotes formulae and/or non-USASCII text omitted)We measure the time-dependent CP asymmetry in the radiative-penguin decay B super(0) arrowright ..., using a sample of 471x10 ...super(6)Upsilon(4S) arrowright BB events recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e super(+)e super(-) storage ring at SLAC. Using events with m sub()Kpipi1.8GeV/c super(2), we measure the branching fractions of B super(+) arrowright K super(+)pi super(-)pi super(+)gamma and B super(0) arrowright K super(0)pi super(-)pi super(+)gamma, the branching fractions of the kaonic resonances decaying to K super(+)pi super(-)pi super(+), as well as the overall branching fractions of the B super(+) arrowright rho super(0)K super(+)gamma, B super(+) arrowright K* super(0)pi super(+)gamma and S-wave B super(+) arrowright ... components. For events from the rho mass band, we measure the CP-violating parameters ... and ..., where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We extract from this measurement the time-dependent CP asymmetry related to the CP eigenstate ... and obtain ..., which provides information on the photon polarization in the underlying bsgamma transition.
We report on measurements of the decays of B mesons into the semileptonic final states B arrow right D(*)pi+ pi- scriptl- nu, where D(*) represents a D or D* meson and scriptl- is an electron or a ...muon. These measurements are based on 471x10 super(6) BB pairs recorded with the BABAR detector at the SLAC asymmetric B factory PEP-II. We determine the branching fraction ratios R(*) sub(pi+ pi- ) = scriptB(B arrow right D(*)pi+ pi- scriptl- nu) using events in which the second B meson is fully reconstructed. We find R(*) sub(pi+ pi-) = 0.067+ or -0.010+ or -0.008 and R* sub(pi+pi-)=0.019+ or -0.005+ or -0.004, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Based on these results and assuming isospin invariance, we estimate that B arrow right D(*)pipiscriptl-nu decays, where pi denotes either a pi + or - and pi sub(0) meson, account for up to half the difference between the measured inclusive semileptonic branching fraction to charm hadrons and the corresponding sum of previously measured exclusive branching fractions.
We describe in detail a previously published measurement of CP violation in B super(0)-B super(0) oscillations, based on an integrated luminosity of 425.7fb super(-1) collected by the BABAR ...experiment at the PEPII collider. We apply a novel technique to a sample of about 6 million B super(0) arrow right D * super(+)scriptl ? nu sub(scriptl) decays selected with partial reconstruction of the D* sub(+) meson. The charged lepton identifies the flavor of one B meson at its decay time, the flavor of the other B is determined by kaon tagging. We determine a CP violating asymmetry (ProQuest: Formulae and/or non-USASCII text omitted) corresponding to (ProQuest: Formulae and/or non-USASCII text omitted). This measurement is consistent and competitive with those obtained at the B factories with dilepton events.
We measure the mass difference Δm0 between the D*(2010)+ and the D0 and the natural linewidth Γ of the transition D*(2010)+ → D0π+. The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass ...energies at and near the Υ(4S) resonance, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of approximately 477 fb(-1). The D0 is reconstructed in the decay modes D0 → K- π+ and D0 → K- π+ π- π+. For the decay mode D0 → K- π+ we obtain Γ = (83.4±1.7±1.5) keV and Δm0 = (145425.6±0.6±1.7) keV, corrected where the quoted errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. For the D0 → K- π+ π- π+ mode we obtain Γ = (83.2±1.5±2.6) keV and Δm0 = (145426.6±0.5±1.9) keV. corrected The combined measurements yield Γ = (83.3±1.2±1.4) keV and Δm0 = (145425.9±0.4±1.7) keV; the width is a factor of approximately 12 times more precise than the previous value, while the mass difference is a factor of approximately 6 times more precise.
We present a measurement of the asymmetry ACP between same-sign inclusive dilepton samples scriptl+scriptl+ and scriptl-scriptl- (scriptl=e, mu ) from semileptonic B decays in Y(4S) arrow right BB- ...events, using the complete data set recorded by the BABAR experiment near the Y(4S) resonance, corresponding to 471x106 BB- pairs. The asymmetry ACP allows comparison between the mixing probabilities P(B-0 arrow right B0) and P(B0 arrow right B-0), and therefore probes CP and T violation. The result, ACP=-3.9+ or -3.5(stat) + or -1.9(syst)x10-3, is consistent with the standard model expectation.
We present a Dalitz plot analysis of charmless B ± decays to the final state π ± π ± π ∓ using a sample of ( 465 ± 5 ) × 10 6 B ¯¯¯ B pairs collected by the BABAR experiment at √ s = 10.58 GeV . ...We measure the branching fractions B ( B ± → π ± π ± π ∓ ) = ( 15.2 ± 0.6 ± 1.2 ± 0.4 ) × 10 − 6 , B ( B ± → ρ 0 ( 770 ) π ± ) = ( 8.1 ± 0.7 ± 1.2 + 0.4 − 1.1 ) × 10 − 6 , B ( B ± → f 2 ( 1270 ) π ± ) = ( 1.57 ± 0.42 ± 0.16 + 0.53 − 0.19 ) × 10 − 6 , and B ( B ± → π ± π ± π ∓ nonresonant ) = ( 5.3 ± 0.7 ± 0.6 + 1.1 − 0.5 ) × 10 − 6 , where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and model-dependent, respectively. Measurements of branching fractions for the modes B ± → ρ 0 ( 1450 ) π ± and B ± → f 0 ( 1370 ) π ± are also presented. We observe no significant direct C P asymmetries for the above modes, and there is no evidence for the decays B ± → f 0 ( 980 ) π ± , B ± → χ c 0 π ± , or B ± → χ c 2 π ± .
We present results of a search for CP violation in B0- B0 mixing with the BABAR detector. We select a sample of B0→D*- Xℓ+ ν decays with a partial reconstruction method and use kaon tagging to assess ...the flavor of the other B meson in the event. We determine the CP violating asymmetry ACP≡N(B0B0)-N(B0B0)/N(B0B0)+N(B0B0)=(0.06±0.17(-0.32)(+0.38))%, corresponding to ΔCP=1-|q/p|=(0.29±0.84(-1.61)(+1.88))×10(-3).
