With a particular attention to remote places and marginalised territories, this book provides a conceptualisation of the role of internal and international migration to the local development and ...resilience of the rural and mountain regions of Europe. The book is a collective effort produced by the international and multi-disciplinary network of the Horizon 2020 project MATILDE. In declaring a public and trans-regional position – in the form of a Manifesto for the renaissance of remote places - the book contributes to a new narrative about migration and rural/mountain territories for the future of the entire continent. Mobilizing new data and scientific-based information, the book calls for putting remote regions and their inhabitants at the core of innovative policies at local, regional, national and EU levels. An important resource for researchers, students and policymakers in human and population geography, rural studies, migration studies, social and political sciences.
This paper reports the framework, method and main findings of an analysis of cultural milieus in 4 European countries (Estonia, Greece, Italy, and UK). The analysis is based on a questionnaire ...applied to a sample built through a two-step procedure of post-hoc random selection from a broader dataset based on an online survey. Responses to the questionnaire were subjected to multidimensional analysis-a combination of Multiple Correspondence Analysis and Cluster Analysis. We identified 5 symbolic universes, that correspond to basic, embodied, affect-laden, generalized worldviews. People in this study see the world as either a) an ordered universe; b) a matter of interpersonal bond; c) a caring society; d) consisting of a niche of belongingness; e) a hostile place (others' world). These symbolic universes were also interpreted as semiotic capital: they reflect the capacity of a place to foster social and civic development. Moreover, the distribution of the symbolic universes, and therefore social and civic engagement, is demonstrated to be variable across the 4 countries in the analysis. Finally, we develop a retrospective reconstruction of the distribution of symbolic universes as well as the interplay between their current state and past, present and future socio-institutional scenarios.
The thesis of this article is that if borders did not exist, Euroscepticism would have invented them. If Sartre is paraphrased, it is to emphasize that Euroscepticism needs borders in the same ...intense political and symbolic way as anti-Semitism needs Jews. This thesis is argued in three steps. The first analyses the paradox of the intense theoretical deconstruction of borders in the era of an overbordered world and argues the ideas of the 'revenge of the state' and of the emergence of the 'neo-post-Westphalian order'. The second part examines the post-communist Europeanisation as de-bordering and distinguishes three forms: Europeanisation through utopianization, Europeanisation through ethnic de-bordering and Europeanisation through de-territorialization. The third part analyses the interferences and intensification of re-bordering and Euroscepticism. The stato-national and the ethno-identitarian bordering practices are analysed through the images of wall and body. Two types of Euroscepticism - extremist and crypto - are distinguished and compared.

Evaluation of grip strength using a Jamar dynamometer, range of motion (ROM), and Patient Related Wrist Evaluation (PRWE).
After a 6-week period of postoperative treatment, the patients (n=23) performing an independent home exercise program using a training diary showed a significantly greater improvement of the functionality of the wrist. Grip strength reached 54% (P=.003), and ROM in extension and flexion 79% (P<.001) of the uninjured side. Ulnar and radial abduction was also higher in this group. In contrast, patients who were treated by a physical therapist achieved grip strength equal to 32%, and ROM in extension and flexion of 52% of the uninjured side. Patients who were performing the home training after operation recorded an improved wrist function with a nearly 50% lower value (P<.001) in the PRWE score.
In the postoperative rehabilitation of wrist fractures, instructions in a home exercise program are an effective alternative to prescribed physical therapy treatment.
Abstract
A growing body of literature suggests that involving end-users in intervention research, including design, implementation, and evaluation, is associated with numerous positive outcomes. ...These outcomes include improved intervention efficacy, sustainability, and psychological growth among collaborators. The value of this approach and the recommendation for researchers to embrace co-creation in implementation and policies have also been recognised within the EU Framework of Research Innovation. Furthermore, it has been suggested that this approach may be particularly relevant for working with individuals from marginalised groups, whose voices are often absent from research and policy discussions. However, there has been limited attention given to how co-creation unfolds in practice. In this article, we provide a review of the methodological framework implemented by the H2020 REFUGE-ED (2021–2023), which was conducted in collaboration with migrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking communities. The project implemented the 'REFUGE-ED Dialogic Co-Creation Process (RDCP)' in 46 educational settings across six European countries. Considering the need for evidence-based approaches in education and mental health and psychosocial support practices, we suggest that the RDCP has the potential for sustainability and replicability in diverse contexts.

The author introduces five portraits of women who illustrate various types and migratory logics that are analyzed by the concepts of globalization, world system, migratory system, super diversity, ..."eurostars and eurocities", empowerment. She questions these concepts through the post communist migration experiences. The article polemizes with the mainstream of gender studies which conceptualizes women in terms of discrimination, vulnerability, inequalities, leaving little theoretical space to opportunities, (re) construction of oneself, empowerment.
