The VEPP-5 injection complex is a source of intense electron and positron beams that supplies the VEPP-4M and VEPP-2000 accelerator complexes through the K-500 transport channel. At present, the ...injection complex is in regular operation. Work is being carried out to improve the performance and stability of the facility, and possible ways of working with perspective beam users are being considered. This article presents a description of the injection complex and the experience of its operation, as well as the latest improvements being considered.

The new NICA (Nuclotron-based Ion Collider fAсility) accelerator complex being built at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna, Russia) is intended for experiments with 197Au79+ gold nuclei ...at energies in the range of 1–4.5 GeV/n. The RF system of the collider should provide the capture of bunches to be injected from the nuclotron, the accumulation of the necessary number of particles, their acceleration (if necessary), and the formation of bunches. For this, in each ring of the collider, three types of accelerating stations are used: one barrier station and two harmonic stations. The barrier station accumulates the particles and can used to accelerate them up to the energy of the experiment. The harmonic RF stations operating at the 22th and 66th harmonics of the revolution frequency are used for the formation of bunches. This paper describes the operating modes of the RF system and the design features of the RF stations.
An acoustic signal that is excited without acoustic contact by an excitation electrode in a metal sample has been studied. A constant electric voltage close to the breakdown value was applied between ...the electrode and the sample. A video pulse of electric field with a duration of 0.4 μs was used to excite sound in the sample. The ratio
k
of signals that were registered with noncontact and contact excitation proved surprisingly large (
k
= 0.14) when compared to the value expected from the literature data. A strong dependence of the noncontact acoustic signal on the filling frequency
f
of the excitation pulse has been observed. For
f
> 10 MHZ, the signal dropped to the level of noises. An explanation for this frequency dependence is proposed. It is based on the assumption of quasi-atomic thickness of the charged metal layer that is created by the electric field.

The VEPP-2000 is an electron–positron collider with round beams built and operating at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (BINP). The collider luminosity was increased twofold last year. The ...integrated luminosity accumulated over the last year has exceeded 0.3 fb
–1
, which almost doubled the total data collected since the collider operation began. The short description of the VEPP-2000 complex, current status, and the results are presented in this work.

A dual-slit dissector operating in the crossed-sweep mode with a picosecond time resolution has been created on the basis of the PIF-01 image converter tube. The dissector is applicable to ...synchrotron radiation sources and electron-positron colliders when it is necessary to simultaneously record longitudinal profiles of multi-bunch beams that fill two to several hundred adjacent separatrices of an accelerator ring. Two trains of light pulses shifted in time with respect to each other have been recorded with a time resolution of 6.0 ± 0.5 ps during the dynamic tests of the developed dissector with a laser system.

A new-generation dissector has developed on the basis of a modified PIF-01 image converter tube for the timing diagnostics of charged particle beams in accelerators. Pilot models of the detector ...have been produced. The time resolution obtained in the dynamic tests at the laser facility is ~2 ps, which is better by more than an order of magnitude than the corresponding parameter of the available LI-602 dissector. The pilot models of the new dissector have been successfully tested in experiments at the Metrology Light Source (MLS) accelerator (Berlin, Germany).
Since 2016, the VEPP-5 injection complex has been supplying the VEPP-4M and the VEPP-2000 colliders with electrons and positrons through the K-500 transport channel. By now the injection complex has ...demonstrated the capability to support the routine operation of both colliders. Nevertheless, work is actively continuing to improve the stability and efficiency of the facility. In this paper, a description of the injection complex, its operation experience, and prospects are presented.
Novosibirsk FEL facility is based on the first in the world multi-turn energy recovery linac (ERL). It comprises three FELs (stages). FELs on the first and the second tracks were commissioned in 2004 ...and 2009 respectively and operate for users now. The third stage FEL is installed on the fourth track of the ERL. It includes three undulator sections and 40-meters-long optical cavity. The design tuning range of this FEL is from 5 to 20 microns and the design average power at bunch repetition rate 3.74 MHz is about 1 kW. Recent results of the third stage FEL commissioning are reported.
