The CMS lead tungstate (PbWO 4 ) electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) has successfully achieved its first goal: the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012. However, longevity studies show that part of ...the PbWO 4 ECAL will not maintain the required performance due to radiation damage incurred at the HL-LHC. The forward region of the detector will suffer the most from radiation damage, and the ECAL Endcaps (EE) will need to be replaced. A scintillator-based option for the EE replacement, Shashlik EE, is presented in the paper. The Shashlik EE is a sampling calorimeter. Tungsten absorber plates are interleaved with scintillator plates (LYSO or CeF 3 ), with quartz and wavelength-shifting (WLS) capillaries optically coupled to the scintillator plates for light output. The Shashlik EE maintains an excellent energy resolution, but compared to the current PbWO 4 EE, it is at least five times greater in radiation hardness and has a module size four times smaller allowing four times higher granularity laterally for pileup mitigation and particle identification. Irradiation tests and beam tests results have confirmed the high performance of the Shashlik EE.
This article presents recent results of the Z boson production in the proton-lead collisions and the charmonium production in the ultra-peripheral lead-lead collisions at the LHC collected during ...2013 to 2018 by the LHCb detector. The potential heavy ion programs in these topics are also discussed.
The precision of the W boson mass from direct measurements is currently the limiting factor in the precision examination of the SM through the comparison of the direct measured Higgs boson mass and ...the predicted one. We present the measurements of the W boson mass using 5 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector during Run II at the Fermilab Tevatron collider, yields MW=80.375±0.023 GeV, and a new world average of MW=80.385±0.015 GeV. We further present the expectation from the ongoing measurements using the full D0 Run II data set of about 10 fb-1.
Measurements of quarkonia production in ultra-peripheral heavy-ion collisions
are of important value to study photon-photon and photon-nucleus interactions,
the partonic structure of nuclei, and ...mechanisms of vector-meson production.
LHCb has studied both coherent $J/\psi$ and $\psi(2S)$ mesons in
ultra-peripheral collisions using PbPb data at forward rapidity with the
highest precision currently accessible. In addition, measurements of $Z$
production in $p$Pb collisions provide new constraints on the partonic
structure of nucleons bound inside nuclei. Here will present these measurements

In this high-\(x\) region, both the flavour content and structure of the nucleon parton distribution functions remains relatively poorly known. New LHCb measurements of Z and charm jet associated ...production could indicate a valence-like intrinsic-charm component in the proton wave function, and measurements of Z production in pPb collisions provide new constraints on the partonic structure of nucleons bound inside nuclei. Here we will discuss these new LHCb measurements and comparisons with state-of-the-art parton distribution function calculations.

This article presents results of the Z boson production in the proton-lead collisions at \(\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 5.02\) TeV and \(\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}= 8.16\) TeV collected in 2013 and 2016, respectively, ...by the LHCb detector at the LHC in forward and backward rapidity. The great precision of the 2016 data are found compatible with nPDFs theoretical predictions within large theoretical uncertainties, and can be useful to constraint new predictions.
