Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the most second common neurodegenerative movement disorder. Neuroinflammation due to systemic inflammation and elevated oxidative stress is considered a major factor ...promoting the pathogenesis of PD, but the relationship of structural brain imaging parameters to clinical inflammatory markers has not been well studied. Our aim was to evaluate the association of magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) measures with inflammatory markers. Blood samples were collected from 33 patients with newly diagnosed PD and 30 healthy volunteers. MRS data including levels of N-acetylaspartate (NAA), creatine (Cre), and choline (Cho) were measured in the bilateral basal ganglia and cerebellum. Inflammatory markers included plasma nuclear DNA, plasma mitochondrial DNA, and apoptotic leukocyte levels. The Cho/Cre ratio in the dominant basal ganglion, the dominant basal ganglia to cerebellum ratios of two MRS parameters NAA/Cre and Cho/Cre, and levels of nuclear DNA, mitochondrial DNA, and apoptotic leukocytes were significantly different between PD patients and normal healthy volunteers. Significant positive correlations were noted between MRS measures and inflammatory marker levels. In conclusion, patients with PD seem to have abnormal levels of inflammatory markers in the peripheral circulation and deficits in MRS measures in the dominant basal ganglion and cerebellum.

This paper presents a 4-way modularized prototype millimeter-wave base station system operating at 38 GHz. The base station contains several separated modules operating for different functions in IF ...frequency and RF frequency. A 4×4 phased array antenna is utilized in the system for beam-steering or beamforming applications in the future 5G technologies. The whole system is fabricated by standard industrial printed circuit board (PCB) process with Rogers RO4350B material and manufactured circuit components. Measurements of the phased array antenna and the prototype system were done to verify the design concept. The measurement result of the 1-way system has a −28 dB EVM with 600 MHz bandwidth in a 6-meter wireless link scenario.

Sixty-nine adult Chinese patients with sepsis due to bacterial ...infections were enrolled in the study and randomly assigned to receive CPM (2 g i.v. every 12 h) or ceftazidime (2 g i.v. every 8 h).
Both groups were comparable in terms of demographic, clinical and microbiological features. The causative pathogen was Escherichia coli or Klebsiella pneumoniae in the majority of microbiologically documented cases. The rates of clinical response (94 vs. 94%) and bacteriological response (65 vs. 68%) were similar in both groups. Similar adverse events, including rashes, gastrointestinal upset and asymptomatic elevation of hepatic enzymes, occurred in a minority of patients in both groups. All events were self-limited after discontinuation of the drugs.
CPM is as safe and effective as ceftazidime in the treatment of sepsis due to bacterial infections in Chinese patients.

In order to use the Global Positioning System (GPS) as a major navigation system for civil aviation, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and aviation organizations around the world are ...working on the development of the Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) which is a solution to enhance the GPS service for civil aviation users. A GBAS ground facility prototype, Integrity Monitor Testbed (IMT), is presented in this paper to conduct a preliminary study on its performance in Taipei Flight Information Region (FIR). The IMT could enhance the accuracy and integrity of GPS through a series of comprehensive monitoring algorithms to supply the integrity messages to GPS users. The assessment of the Signal Quality Monitoring (SQM), the Data Quality Monitoring (DQM), and the Measurement Quality Monitoring (MQM) algorithms of IMT will be presented in this paper. The initial results of theses quality monitoring algorithms could provide the valuable reference for future implementation and operation of the GBAS in Taipei FIR.
