The regulatory loop between long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and microRNAs has a dynamic role in transcriptional and translational regulation, and is involved in cancer. However, the regulatory ...circuitry between lncRNAs and microRNAs in tumorigenesis remains elusive. Here we demonstrate that a nuclear lncRNA LINC00336 is upregulated in lung cancer and functions as an oncogene by acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNAs). LINC00336 bound RNA-binding protein ELAVL1 (ELAV-like RNA-binding protein 1) using nucleotides 1901-2107 of LINC00336 and the RRM interaction domain and key amino acids (aa) of ELAVL1 (aa 101-213), inhibiting ferroptosis. Moreover, ELAVL1 increased LINC00336 expression by stabilizing its posttranscriptional level, whereas LSH (lymphoid-specific helicase) increased ELAVL1 expression through the p53 signaling pathway, further supporting the hypothesis that LSH promotes LINC00336 expression. Interestingly, LINC00336 served as an endogenous sponge of microRNA 6852 (MIR6852) to regulate the expression of cystathionine-β-synthase (CBS), a surrogate marker of ferroptosis. Finally, we found that MIR6852 inhibited cell growth by promoting ferroptosis. These data show that the network of lncRNA and ceRNA has an important role in tumorigenesis and ferroptosis.
Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNA) have been associated with various types of cancer; however, the precise role of many lncRNAs in tumorigenesis remains elusive. Here we demonstrate that the cytosolic ...lncRNA P53RRA is downregulated in cancers and functions as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting cancer progression. Chromatin remodeling proteins LSH and Cfp1 silenced or increased P53RRA expression, respectively. P53RRA bound Ras GTPase-activating protein-binding protein 1 (G3BP1) using nucleotides 1 and 871 of P53RRA and the RRM interaction domain of G3BP1 (aa 177-466). The cytosolic P53RRA-G3BP1 interaction displaced p53 from a G3BP1 complex, resulting in greater p53 retention in the nucleus, which led to cell-cycle arrest, apoptosis, and ferroptosis. P53RRA promoted ferroptosis and apoptosis by affecting transcription of several metabolic genes. Low P53RRA expression significantly correlated with poor survival in patients with breast and lung cancers harboring wild-type p53. These data show that lncRNAs can directly interact with the functional domain of signaling proteins in the cytoplasm, thus regulating p53 modulators to suppress cancer progression.
A cytosolic lncRNA functions as a tumor suppressor by activating the p53 pathway.

•A solvent-free green synthesis route was applied for the functionalization of cellulose nanofibers by rosin.•Rosin modified cellulose nanofiber (R-CNF) was used as a reinforcement for polylactic ...acid (PLA) to prepare a R-CNF/PLA/chitosan composite film.•R-CNF reinforced composite film had better mechanical properties than those of CNF reinforced film when at the same reinforcing fiber load.•The R-CNF was found to have a synergistic antimicrobial effect with chitosan against E. coli and B. subtilis.
Cellulose nanofiber (CNF) was modified by rosin and used as a reinforcement filler within a polylactic acid (PLA) matrix. The resulting film was then coated with chitosan (CHT) to prepare a two-layer composite film for antimicrobial food packaging. The FT-IR spectra of rosin modified CNF (R-CNF) displayed a clear peak at 1730cm−1, which confirmed the successful esterification of CNF by rosin. The R-CNF showed a better dispersion in PLA matrix than CNF and the loading of R-CNF had a significant effect on the mechanical properties of the resulting film. A percolation network was formed when the R-CNF loading was 8%, where the composite film displayed optimum mechanical properties. The antimicrobial test showed that the R-CNF/PLA/CHT composite film exhibited excellent antimicrobial performance against E. coli and B. subtilis, which could be attributed to the synergistic antimicrobial effect of CHT and rosin.
Skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM, hereafter referred to as melanoma) is the most lethal skin cancer with increasing incidence. Regulated cell death plays an important role in tumorigenesis and serves as ...an important target for almost all treatment strategies. Cuproptosis is the most recently identified copper-dependent regulated cell death form that relies on mitochondria respiration. However, its role in tumorigenesis remains unknown. The correlation of cuproptosis-related genes with tumor prognosis is far to be understood, either. In the present study, we explored the correlation between cuproptosis-related genes with the prognosis of melanoma by accessing and analyzing a public database and found 11 out 12 genes were upregulated in melanoma tissues and three genes (LIPT1, PDHA1, and SLC31A1) have predictive value for the prognosis. The subgroup of melanoma patients with higher cuproptosis-related gene expression showed longer overall survival than those with lower gene expression. We chose LIPT1 for further exploration. LIPT1 expression was increased in melanoma biopsies and was an independent favorable prognostic indicator for melanoma patients. Moreover, LIPT1 expression was positively correlated with PD-L1 expression and negatively associated with Treg cell infiltration. The melanoma patients with higher LIPT1 expression showed longer overall survival than those with lower LIPT1 expression after receiving immunotherapy, indicating the prognostic predictive value of LIPT1. Finally, a pan-cancer analysis indicated that LIPT1 was differentially expressed in diverse cancers as compared to normal tissues and correlated with the expression of multiple immune checkpoints, especially PD-L1. It could serve as a favorable prognosis indicator in some cancer types. In conclusion, our study demonstrated the prognostic value of cuproptosis-related genes, especially LIPT1, in melanoma, and revealed the correlation between LIPT1 expression and immune infiltration in melanoma, thus providing new clues on the prognostic assessment of melanoma patients and providing a new target for the immunotherapy of melanoma.
In real-world Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) problem, the attribute weights information may be unknown or partially known. Several approaches have been suggested to address this kind of ...incomplete MADM problem. However, these approaches depend on the determination of attribute weights, and setting different attribute weight vectors may result in different ranking positions of alternatives. To deal with this issue, this paper develops a novel MADM approach: the ranking range based MADM approach. In the novel MADM approach, the minimum and maximum ranking positions of every alternative are generated using several optimization models, and the average ranking position of every alternative is produced applying the Monte Carlo simulation method. Then, the minimum, maximum and average ranking positions of the alternative are integrated into a new ranking position of the alternative. This novel approach is capable of dealing with venture investment evaluation problems. However, in the venture investment evaluation process, decision makers will present different risk attitudes. To deal with this issue, two ranking range based MADM approaches with risk attitudes are further designed. A case study and a simulation experiment are presented to show the validity of the proposal.
Ferroptosis is primarily caused by intracellular iron catalytic activity and lipid peroxidation. The potential interplay between ferroptosis and apoptosis remains poorly understood. Here, we show ...that the expression of a nuclear long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), LINC00618, is reduced in human leukemia and strongly increased by vincristine (VCR) treatment. Furthermore, LINC00618 promotes apoptosis by increasing the levels of BCL2-Associated X (BAX) and cleavage of caspase-3. LINC00618 also accelerates ferroptosis by increasing the levels of lipid reactive oxygen species (ROS) and iron, two surrogate markers of ferroptosis, and decreasing the expression of solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11). Interestingly, VCR-induced ferroptosis and apoptosis are promoted by LINC00618, and LINC00618 accelerates ferroptosis in a manner dependent upon apoptosis. LINC00618 attenuates the expression of lymphoid-specific helicase (LSH), and LSH enhances the transcription of SLC7A11 after the recruitment to the promoter regions of SLC7A11, further inhibiting ferroptosis. Knowledge of these mechanisms demonstrates that lncRNAs related to ferroptosis and apoptosis are critical to leukemogenesis and chemotherapy.

We identified a previously unknown function of a specific lncRNA, LINC00618, which we show promotes apoptosis and ferroptosis by epigenetic mechanisms, thereby linking apoptosis and ferroptosis. In cooperation with vincristine, LINC00618 may represent a promising target for leukemia therapy.
Green development is an important component of China's new development concept. Pilot Free Trade Zones (PFTZs), as "experimental fields" for promoting reform, deepening opening-up, and raising the ...level of an open economy, are important open areas for China to promote green development. However, existing related research is not extensive. This article takes PFTZs as quasi-natural experiments, with the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) as the research area. Based on urban panel data from 2006 to 2020, using multi-period differences-in-differences and spatial differences-in-differences models, it explores the impact effects of PFTZs on urban green development and their potential mechanisms. The research findings indicate: (1) Overall, PFTZs significantly promote urban green development, with variations in impact effects due to different batches and locations of establishment. (2) Mechanism tests show that PFTZs mainly promote urban green development by stimulating technological innovation, industrial upgrading, and reducing government intervention. (3) From the perspective of spatial spillover effects, the establishment of PFTZs not only promotes the green development process in the host cities but also has a promoting effect on the green development of surrounding cities.
As the standard treatments for cancer, chemotherapy and radiotherapy have been widely applied to clinical practice worldwide. However, the resistance to cancer therapies is a major challenge in ...clinics and scientific research, resulting in tumor recurrence and metastasis. The mechanisms of therapy resistance are complicated and result from multiple factors. Among them, non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), along with their modifiers, have been investigated to play key roles in regulating tumor development and mediating therapy resistance within various cancers, such as hepatocellular carcinoma, breast cancer, lung cancer, gastric cancer, etc. In this review, we attempt to elucidate the mechanisms underlying ncRNA/modifier-modulated resistance to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, providing some therapeutic potential points for future cancer treatment.

Abstract In the last few years, with the fast growing of neural network field such as those for virtual reception and enhanced nature, the practice and theory of conventional landscape are impacted ...and challenged by virtual landscape based on these sorts of neural network technologies. On the one hand, the virtual landscape changes the carrier of landscape design from material real world to the networked virtual world, which breaks the traditional way of generating landscape and the way of expression of results. On the other hand, the virtualized and networked morphological characteristics of the virtual landscape itself and its capacity that can offer users a sense of immertion, interplay and enjoyment of the experience provide a way of extending and deepening the realm of scenery. It is also a new type of landscape that conforms to the trend of the times created in the background of the fast evolution of scientific and technical development. Virtual landscape brings new construction thinking and practical means for the application of digital city, the construction of urban context, and the development and utilization of relics. It provides an important research source for thinking about the relationship between current humanities and science, material and virtual, history and contemporary. After the research and experiment on the urban environment landscape design of PSO-BP neural network, the experimental data showed that before using the neural network method to improve Yanta East Garden, 57% of the crowd were satisfied with the overall impression of Yanta East Garden, and 17% were dissatisfied. After the improvement, 67% were satisfied with the landscape of Yanta East Garden, only 5% were dissatisfied, and the landscape satisfaction increased by 10%. The survey group believed that the landscape color of Yanta East Garden was full of historical flavor, especially the small sculptures convey the unique Qin Opera culture. The above data show that the method based on neural network is very suitable for the improvement and development of urban landscape design.
