In a previous study by the authors, genome-wide association analysis was used to screen the candidate gene SISTER OF FCA (SSF) that regulates FLOWERING LOCUS C (FLC), a central gene encoding a flowering suppressor in Arabidopsis thaliana.
SSF physically interacts with Protein arginine methyltransferase 5 (PRMT5, SKB1). Subcellular co-localization analysis showed that SSF and SKB1 interact in the nucleus. Genetically, SSF and SKB1 exist in the same regulatory pathway that controls FLC expression. Furthermore, RNA-sequencing analysis showed that both SSF and SKB1 regulate certain common pathways.
This study shows that PRMT5 interacts with SSF, thus controlling FLC expression and facilitating flowering time control.
Linear cultural heritage is a unique and emerging type of large-scale heritage primarily located in rural areas. Despite the fact that much literature has concentrated on the importance of heritage ...to rural revitalization and development in Western countries, linear cultural heritage production has remained largely absent from accounts of rural studies in the context of China. This article aims to address this neglect by examining the spatial reconstruction process of the Meiguan Historical Trail. Based on the theory of the production of space, this article reveals the cultural practice of local ruling elites in mobilizing linear cultural heritage to promote regional competitiveness and how ordinary people question the official space reconstruction policy. The article finds that residents are obedient to government’s efforts, while tourists are suspicious of the superficial cultural restoration. The findings further deepen the understanding of linear cultural heritage production as a rural development location policy. In addition, as an important dynamic force, culture participates in the spatial production of linear cultural heritage, which enriches the cultural dimension of spatial production to a certain extent. The findings offer theoretical direction and policy recommendations for the development and sustainability of linear cultural heritage worldwide.
Bodily distress syndrome (BDS) is a new, empirical-based diagnosis of functional somatic symptoms. This study aimed to explore the prevalence of BDS and its association with psychosocial variables in ...a Chinese clinical population.
A multicentre cross-sectional study of 1269 patients was conducted in 9 different Chinese tertiary outpatient hospitals. The BDS was identified by trained interviewers face-to face, based on a brief version of the Schedules for Assessment in Neuropsychiatry (RIFD) and the BDS Checklist-25. Sociodemographic data and further information were characterised from psychometric questionnaires (The Patient Health Questionnaire-15, the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, the General Anxiety Disorder-7, the Whiteley scale-8) .
Complete data were available for 697 patients. The prevalence of BDS was 26.8% (95% confidence interval (CI): 23.5-30.1). Among the participants, 5.8% (95% CI: 4.1-7.6) fulfilled the criteria for single-organ BDS, while 20.9% (95%CI: 17.9-24.0) had multi-organ BDS. Comparison of the PHQ-15, PHQ-9, GAD-7, and WI-8 scores revealed higher scores on all dimensions for patients with BDS. In a binary logistic regression analysis, BDS was significantly associated with increased health-related anxiety (WI-8) and depression (PHQ-9). The explained variance was Nagelkerke's R

In China, the BDS is a common clinical condition in tertiary outpatient hospital settings with high prevalence, and is associated with health anxiety and depressive symptoms. In this clinical population, the severe multi-organ subtype of BDS was the most frequent.
Cyclin E is an important regulator of cell cycle progression. Various studies examined the relationship between cyclin E overexpression with the clinical outcome in patients with breast cancer but ...yielded conflicting results. Electronic databases updated to May 2013 were searched to find relevant studies. A meta-analysis was conducted with eligible studies which quantitatively evaluated the relationship between cyclin E overexpression and survival of patients with breast cancer. Survival data were aggregated and quantitatively analyzed. We conducted a final analysis of 7,759 patients from 23 eligible studies and evaluated the correlation between cyclin E overexpression and survival in patients with breast cancer. Combined hazard ratios suggested that cyclin E overexpression had an unfavorable impact on overall survival (OS) (hazard ratio (HR) = 1.30, 95 % confidence interval (CI), 1.12–1.49) and breast cancer-specific survival (BCSS) (HR = 1.48, 95 % CI, 1.03–1.93), but not disease-free survival (HR = 1.11; 95 % CI, 0.96–1.27) in patients with breast cancer. Significantly, risks were found among stage I–II breast cancer for (HR = 1.75; 95 % CI, 1.30–2.19). Cyclin E overexpression is associated with poor OS and BCSS in breast cancer.
7YSZ coating was prepared by plasma spray-physical vapor deposition (PS-PVD) technique based on a specific experimental design. The microstructure and deposition properties of 7YSZ coating along the ...radius of plasma jet were investigated in detail. Results show that the coating presents regional characteristic in the radial direction, which could be divided into three typical zones: In Zone I, the coating is all composed of columnar structures with cauliflower structure, and the coating properties including the surface roughness and deposition efficiency (DE) are almost stable; in Zone III, the coating is made up of solid particles, droplet and gas phase mixed without columnar structures; Zone II is between Zone I and Zone III, in which there are columns with domed top and small particles. Based on experiment results, a model on the state and distribution of particles in plasma jet was proposed to clarify the regional characteristic. This study is helpful to comprehend and control coatings deposition by PS-PVD technique.
In this paper, we study a stock-rationing queue with two demand classes by means of the sensitivity-based optimization, and develop a complete algebraic solution to the optimal dynamic rationing ...policy. We show that the optimal dynamic rationing policy must be of transformational threshold type. Based on this finding, we can refine three sufficient conditions under each of which the optimal dynamic rationing policy is of threshold type (i.e., critical rationing level). To do this, we use the performance difference equation to characterize the monotonicity and optimality of the long-run average profit of this system, and thus establish some new structural properties of the optimal dynamic rationing policy by observing any given reference policy. Finally, we use numerical experiments to demonstrate our theoretical results of the optimal dynamic rationing policy. We believe that the methodology and results developed in this paper can shed light on the study of stock-rationing queue and open a series of potentially promising research.
Previous studies have indicated different immunological recovery trajectories based on CD4 count or CD4/CD8 ratio. However, these immune indicators are interconnected, and relying solely on one ...indicator may lead to inaccurate estimates. Therefore, it is essential to develop a comprehensive trajectory model that integrates CD4 count, CD8 count and CD4/CD8 ratio.
We utilized a group-based multi-trajectory model to characterize the latent cluster of recovery based on measurements of CD4 count, CD8 count and CD4/CD8 ratio over a period of up to 96 months following ART initiation. Subsequently, we investigated the characteristics associated with trajectory groups, especially sex and age. Cox model and Kaplan-Meier survival curve were employed to assess differences in all-cause, AIDS-related and non-AIDS related mortality between trajectory groups.
A total of 14,718 eligible individuals were followed for a median of 55 months. Longitudinal model identified four subgroups: group 1 (32.5%, low CD4 and CD4/CD8 inversion), group 2 (25.9%, high CD8 and CD4/CD8 inversion), group 3 (27.2%, slow recovery of CD4 and CD4/CD8 inversion) and group 4 (14.4%, rapid increase of CD4 and normal CD4/CD8). Immune recovery was slower in male than in female, and in elders than in youngers. Compared to group 2, group 1 (adjusted hazard ratio aHR=3.28; 95% CI 2.33-4.60) and group 3 (aHR=1.56; 95% CI 1.09-2.24) had increased risk of all-cause mortality after adjusting for other factors. Besides, group 1 (aHR=2.17) and group 3 (aHR=1.58) had higher risk of non-AIDS related mortality, and group 1 (aHR=5.92) had significantly increased risk of AIDS related mortality.
Longitudinal trajectory analysis of multiple immune indicators can be employed to guide targeted interventions among vulnerable populations in clinical practice.
Background Immunoglobulin lambda (Iglambda) has been reported to be expressed in many normal and tumor tissues and cells. However, the function and clinical significance of tumor-derived Iglambda ...remain unclear. Methods The differential expressions of Immunoglobulin Lambda Constants (IGLCs) in cervical squamous cell carcinoma and endocervical adenocarcinoma (CESC) were examined with The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx), and Human Protein Atlas (HPA) databases. The effects of IGLCs on patient clinical phenotypes and prognosis were explored via bioinformatics analyses based on the TCGA databases. We used the bioinformatics analyses based on the TCGA and GTEx databases to elucidate the correlations among IGLC expressions, immunomodulator expressions, tumor stemness, and infiltration scores of tumor infiltrating immune cells. Co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) and silver staining combined with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) were used to obtain potential tumor-derived Iglambda-interacting proteins. Functional annotation of candidate proteins identified by LC-MS/MS was performed in Database for Annotation, Visualization and Integrated Discovery (DAVID). The bioinformatics analyses of 7 IGLCs in CESC and normal cervical tissues were performed based on TCGA, GTEx, and Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis 2 (GEPIA2) databases. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was analyzed based on tumor-derived Iglambda-interacting proteins in Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes/Proteins (STRING) database. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was used to validate the expressions of IGLCs in CESC. Results We found that the expressions of the majority of IGLCs (IGLC1, IGLC2, IGLC3, IGLC4, IGLC5, IGLC6, and IGLC7) were upregulated in CESC tissues, compared with those in normal cervical tissues. The expressions of IGLC5 and IGLC7 had significant difference in different pathologic metastasis (M), one of tumor, node, and metastasis (TNM) staging system, categories of CESC. Except for disease-free interval (DFI), 4 IGLC (IGLC1, IGLC2, IGLC3, and IGLC7) expression levels were positively associated with patient overall survival (OS), disease-specific survival (DSS), and progression-free interval (PFI) respectively in CESC tissues. 5 IGLC (IGLC1, IGLC2, IGLC3, IGLC6, and IGLC7) expressions were positively correlated with the expressions of a majority of immunomodulators respectively in CESC tissues. Tumor stemness was negatively correlated with the expressions of 4 IGLCs (IGLC1, IGLC2, IGLC3, and IGLC7) respectively in CESC tissues. Except for IGLC4, IGLC5, and IGLC7, 4 IGLC (IGLC1, IGLC2, IGLC3, and IGLC6) expressions were positively correlated with infiltration scores of 6 tumor-infiltrating immune cells (B cell, T cell CD4, T cell CD8, neutrophil, macrophage, and DC). After analyses of the above bioinformatics data of tumor-derived Iglambda, Co-IP and LC-MS/MS were used to confirm that 4 proteins (RPL7, RPS3, H1-5, and H1-6) might interact with tumor-derived Iglambda in cervical cancer cells. Functional analyses of these candidate proteins showed that they interacted with many proteins and were involved in various cellular biological processes. Finally, IHC was used to further confirm the above bioinformatics results, it was indicated that the expression level of Iglambda in cervical adenocarcinoma and cervical squamous cell carcinoma was higher than that in normal cervical tissue. Conclusion This study comprehensively investigated the functions of tumor-derived Iglambda and its interacting proteins based on bioinformatics analysis and the potential value of Iglambda as a prognostic and therapeutic marker for CESC, providing new direction and evidence for CESC therapy.
