This editorial discussed the statement on integration by the Social Issues Committee of the American Orthopsychiatric Association. Integration is not merely a political problem or an economic problem ...or an ethical problem. It is not of concern only to those working in the field of human relations-educators, sociologists, anthropologists, psychiatrists or social workers. Integration is a world problem, a national problem and a deeply personal problem for all peoples, white and black, North and South and in whatever professional discipline they may work. Ortho is unique in that its membership represents multiple disciplines significantly involved in those very areas of human relations upon which integration must eventually depend. Nor does Ortho's concern for these issues represent a departure from its own history. A wholly integrated Association since its inception, Ortho has included committees on minority group problems for the past eight years. Workshop discussions and other program contributions at annual meetings have reflected sustained attention to Civil Rights. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2019 APA, all rights reserved)
