The LHC provided pp collisions in the energy range s=0.9to13TeV, p-Pb collisions at sNN=5.02and8TeV, as well as Pb-Pb collisions at sNN=2.76and5.02TeV. Neutral meson production spectra and their ...ratios η/π0 as well as photon double ratio Rγ and direct photon spectra have been measured in a wide pT range at mid-rapidity by the ALICE experiment. Photons are registered in ALICE electromagnetic calorimeters, EMCal and PHOS or reconstructed from e+e− pairs when photons converted in the material of the inner barrel detectors (TPC and ITS). The π0 and η mesons are reconstructed via invariant mass technique with several complementary methods. The overview of the recent results from ALICE on the photon and meson production is presented.
New isotope (δ18O, δ13C) and elemental (Mg/Ca, Sr/Ca) data of well-preserved belemnite rostra, ammonite and gastropod shells from the Middle Oxfordian–Lower Kimmerdgian (Densiplicatum–Kitchini zones) ...of the Russian Platform are presented. This record is supplemented with published data from the Upper Callovian–Lower Kimmeridgian interval (Athleta–Kitchini zones). Significant differences in average temperatures calculated from δ18O values of particular fossil groups (5–15°C) show the thermal gradient and the presence of cold bottom waters in the Middle Russian Sea during the Late Callovian–Middle Oxfordian. An Upper Oxfordian–lowermost Kimmeridgian decrease in δ18O values and an increase in Sr/Ca ratios of cylindroteuthid belemnite rostra likely reflect a warming of the bottom waters of ca. 3.5°C. The gradual Late Oxfordian–earliest Kimmeridgian warming is followed by an abrupt temperature rise of 3–6°C that occurred at the transition of the Early Kimmeridgian Bauhini and Kitchini chrons.
The occurrences of cold bottom waters and of (Sub)Mediterranean ammonites and belemnites in the Middle Russian Sea at the Middle–Late Jurassic transition are regarded as a result of the opening of seaways during a sea level highstand. The bottom waters are considered to have been formed in the cool Boreal Sea. The subsequent retreats of the cold bottom waters and of the (Sub)Mediterranean cephalopods from the Middle Russian Sea in the Late Oxfordian are explained by the restriction of water circulation during a sea-level fall. The Early Kimmeridgian rise of bottom temperatures of the sea is linked to a global climate warming. The data presented do not support a major cooling of the Arctic and a consequent glaciation in this region at the Middle–Late Jurassic transition. Since occurrences of cold water masses are diachronous in different European basins, the observed variations in sea water temperatures are interpreted as a result of changes in marine currents and water circulation.
δ13C values of belemnite rostra from the Russian Platform are scattered but show the long-term Upper Callovian–Middle Oxfordian positive excursion consistent with the previously published isotope records of the Boreal Realm and terrestrial organic matter.
•Isotope and elemental analyses of fossils from the Russian Platform•Significant thermal gradient (5–15°C) in the water column•Presence of cold bottom waters during the Late Callovian–Middle Oxfordian•Gradual rise of bottom water temperatures starting from the Late Oxfordian•European basins affected by changes in water circulation
This paper reviews the distribution of interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) in the human gastro-intestinal (GI) tract, based on ultrastructural and immunohistochemical evidence. The distribution and ...morphology of ICC at each level of the normal GI tracts is addressed from the perspective of their functional significance. Alterations of ICC reported in as well as in GI stromal tumours are reviewed, with emphasis on the place of ICC in the pathophysiology of disease.
Ultra-peripheral collisions (UPC) of heavy ions provide unique opportunity to study vector meson (VM) photoproduction in ALICE. The recent results of analyses of coherent ρ0 photoproduction cross ...sections in Pb-Pb and Xe-Xe UPC at sNN=5.02 and 5.44 TeV, respectively are presented. Moreover, rapidity and |t| dependence of coherent J/ψ and rapidity dependence of ψ′ photoproduction cross section in Pb-Pb UPC at sNN=5.02TeV are shown. The most recent J/ψ photoproduction and exclusive dimuon cross section studies in p-Pb collisions at sNN=8.16TeV as well as perspectives for future measurements in Run 3 are also discussed in this paper.
Abrikossoff's tumor (AT) is a rare, predominantly benign, asymptomatic, solitary, less than three cm-in-size tumor with usually favorable prognosis after surgical excision. Most of the tumors are ...found in the head and neck location in the third to fifth decade of life. Local wide excision, which is a treatment of choice, is curative in most of the cases. The case of 34-year-old female patient the authors report herein is the first described AT located in scar tissue after caesarean section. Physical and ultrasound examinations revealed a well-circumscribed, two-cm-in-size mass located in the fascia level. With a preoperative suspicion of endometrial tumor, the patient underwent surgery. Tumor was excised with wide tissue margin. Postoperative pathologic analysis revealed the presence of granular cell myoblastoma and was essential giving definitive diagnosis.

We report measurements of charmonia produced in two-photon collisions and decaying to four-meson final states, where the meson is either a charged pion or a charged kaon. The analysis is based on a ...395 fb
