This paper tried to determine the basic principles, respectively the principles of an independent judiciary, on which the state of law and modern judiciary should stand on. The starting point for ...derivation of legal-theoretical principles are international and European regulations and standards, as well as domestic - based on the Constitution, laws and bylaws. Analysis of the various principles and standards of judicial independence, and the overview of latest achievements in this field through comparative law, as well as the national legislation of this field - define the principles and tenets of the modern and independent judiciary, by using various methods of social sciences: comparative-legal, historical, normative and dogmatic methods. The aim is establishment of the courts and judges' integrity, high professional level of judicial personnel, combating corruptive actions and discretional decisions, as well as the high authority of the judicial branch as a whole. Decentralization, mobility, limitation of mandate, independence of the judicial budget, independence from the executive power, as well as the system of continuing education are proposals for directions of the Serbian and democratic justice development. It can be concluded that there is a need for comprehensive reform of the judicial system in Serbia - primarily in terms of the system.

Food safety is indirectly affected by the welfare of food animals, due to close links between animal welfare, animal health and food borne diseases. Stress factors and poor welfare can lead to ...increased susceptibility to disease among animals and may intensify the fecal shedding of food borne pathogens, e.g. Salmonella, Campylobacter, Yersinia, and human pathogenic STEC in the pre-slaughter phase: on-farm, in transport and in lairage. This study evaluated two aspects: a) assessment of pig welfare in abattoir lairage founded on animal-based categories, and b) the relationship between pig welfare and microbial process hygiene at slaughter. The results revealed that the animal-based category ‘manure on the body’ assessed in abattoir lairage corresponded with microbial process hygiene at slaughter.
Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine relationships between final mass of broilers and the histomorphological properties of individual segments of the gastrointestinal tract. This is ...confirmed by the obtained results, which indicate a strong and significant correlation between compared parameters. A strong significant (p<0.05) correlation (r=0.866) was found between the broiler final weight and the duodenal villus length, and between the broiler final weight and the caecal villus length (r=0.918). Correlation between the broiler final weight and the duodenal villus width (r=0.841), as well the caecal villi width (r=0.918) was strongly significant (p<0.05). Between the crypt depths in caecum correlation was medium and significant (r=0.701, p<0.05). It was determined that between the broiler final weights and the ratio of villus length and crypt depth there is a significant medium correlation (r = 0.736, p<0.05). A strong (r = 0.924) significant (p <0.05) correlation was found between the broiler final weight and the ratio of villus length and caecal crypt depth. Between final mass of broilers and other histomorphological properties of individual segments of intestine there was no significant correlation.
