A relationship between the energy consumption and the intensification of agricultural production has been proven. The economy of every branch of agricultural production should be considered with ...regards to the energy consumption. The improvement of heating devices used at households is connected with a decrease in energy consumption

The results of the tests and the arrangements of the flat-plate liquid and air solar collectors are described. The daily average caloric effect of the liquid collector was 2.18 kWh/sq. m on the first ...days of March. The average power of the collector was 242 W/sq. m and maximum of the one was 401W/sq. m. The installation of the collector arrangement acting simultaneously with a water installation of a 16 cattle stand byre is presented. The energistic requirements of that byre are satisfied by a 12 sq. m collector. The average power of the air collector from selected three days was 287 W/sq. m
An EPPO Contingency Planning Workshop for a Forestry Pest was held in Zlatibor, Serbia, between 27 and 29 November 2018. In total, 55 experts from 21 EPPO member countries attended the 3‐day ...workshop. Participants were split into four groups for the exercise and each group acted as an ‘outbreak management team’ for a scenario based on the finding of a quarantine pest for forestry. Only when the exercise had started were participants informed that the outbreak scenario centred around the fictitious discovery of pinewood nematode (Bursaphelenchus xylophilus) in the Tara National Park in Serbia. As the scenario developed, each team had to organize themselves to manage a number of issues designed to mimic the development of an outbreak over the first month following its detection. It was clear from the feedback from participants that that contingency planning workshop was a valuable exercise for EPPO to conduct and participants highlighted the importance of it to prepare themselves for real‐life situations.
The photophysical and photochemical properties of
p-substitued 2-styryl-ethylbenzothiazolium iodides, possessing different electron-withdrawing or electron-donating groups are described. The dyes ...were prepared by the condensation of 3-ethyl-2-methylbenzothiazole salts with
p-substituted benzaldehydes. The synthesis of suitable substrates is presented as well. We describe here the absorption, emission spectra and the luminescence quantum yield of hemicyanine dyes (SH) measured in 11 different organic solvents of varying polarity. Molecular structure of the synthesized dyes was established by
1H NMR, electronic absorption and fluorescence spectrometry. The spectral data confirmed that all the compounds exist in E-configuration of their styryl residues. The planar molecular conformation is typical for the compounds with five-membered side aromatic moieties (for example benzothiazole). The compounds possessing N-alkyl substituent in phenyl ring, in contrast to the compounds with other substituents, exhibit low fluorescence quantum yield in THF solution. This indicates that for N-alkyl derivatives the non-radiative processes are much more effective than the radiative ones. The electronic absorption and fluorescence emission spectra of tested dyes demonstrate high sensitivity to the nature of substituent introduced into the aromatic ring.
Depending on the temperature, crystal polytype, and crystal position, two opposite schemes have been observed for the optical alignment of the populations of spin sublevels in the ground state of a ...Si vacancy in SiC upon irradiation with unpolarized light at frequencies of zero-phonon lines. A giant change by a factor of 2¿3 has been found in the luminescence intensity of zero-phonon lines in zero magnetic field upon absorption of microwave radiation with energy equal to the fine-structure splitting of spin sublevels of the vacancy ground state, which opens up possibilities for magnetic resonance detection at a single vacancy.
