Open gate is a user authentication gateway system for network in the environment opened to public. This system has been operating for controlling the campus-wide open network in Saga University since ...2001. In this research, we propose to implement hOpengateh onto next-generation network hOpen Flowh and show how to distribute the load by access.
A 70-year-old male presented with a plasma cell granuloma extending from the extracranial to the intracranial space. Findings of preoperative magnetic resonance imaging and intraoperative observation ...indicated that the lesion extended from the temporal muscle to the subarachnoid space, penetrating the frontal bone. The subarachnoid lesion was composed of neutrophils indicating the presence of acute or subacute inflammation. The final diagnosis of the resected tumor was plasma cell granuloma. High levels of antibodies against Epstein-Barr (EB) virus in the cerebrospinal fluid and the immunohistochemical demonstration of EB nuclear antigens in the plasma cell granuloma suggested that EB virus infection was associated with the development of plasma cell granuloma in this patient.

The mechanism of intracellular deoxyribonucleoside-triphosphates (dNTP) pool imbalance-induced cell death in mouse FM3A (F28-7) cells was studied. When the cells were treated with ...5-fluorodeoxyuridine (FdUrd), deoxyadenosine, 2-chlorodeoxyadenosine, or alpha,alpha-bis(2-hydroxy-6-isopropyltropon-3-yl)-4-methoxytolu ene, an imbalance in the cellular dNTP pool was induced. The imbalance was followed by DNA double-strand breaks and subsequent cell death. Fragmented DNA appeared to be approximately 100-200 kbp in size. The base of 5'-termini in the DNA were adenine and thymine. The endonuclease toward double stranded DNA has been found in a fraction of FdUrd treated cell lysate, and isolated using column chromatography. We propose the new mechanism dNTP pool imbalance induced cell death named; dNTP Imbalance Death.
Summary A 69-year-old woman with a history of graft replacement of descending aortic aneurysm was referred to our hospital due to massive hematemesis with shock status. Additionally, the ...deterioration of respiratory status made us start the management under mechanical ventilation. The emergent gastrointestinal endoscopy by a general practitioner showed ulcer-like lesion of the upper esophagus and arterial bleeding. A contrast-enhanced computed tomography showed thoracic aortic aneurysm surrounded by low density mass and contrast medium protruding from the aneurysm. The findings suggested that thoracic aortic aneurysm perforated into esophagus and made an aortoesophageal fistula. Hemodynamic deterioration rapidly progressed and she passed away 4 days after her hospitalization. Autopsy showed that a new thoracic aortic aneurysm arose from the proximal site of the graft. The aneurysm ruptured to esophagus with 6.0 cm × 5.0 cm sized fistula. The fistula was filled with a large thrombus. The large thrombus filling with the fistula worked as the tamponade and prevented her from the fatal exsanguinations and sudden death. The mechanism of the sentinel bleeding and the fatal exsanguinations known as Chiari's triad was revealed in our report.
Abstract Patients with thyrotoxic crisis presenting with another emergency are at a considerable risk. We report the successful treatment of a 55-year-old woman having gastric perforation with ...thyrotoxic crisis; the principle of treatment was delayed surgery after rapid preoperative restoration of thyroid function and cardiovascular status. The patient was admitted for severe abdominal pain and nausea with delirium, exophthalmos, diffuse goiter, tremulousness, diaphoresis, tabescence, pretibial edema, and atrial fibrillation. Computed tomography revealed free air over the liver surface. She had been diagnosed with uncontrolled hyperthyroidism 3 days before admission, with a free liothyronine (T3 ) of 23.2 pg/mL, a free levothyroxine sodium (T4 ) of greater than 7.78 ng/dL, and thyrotropin of less than 0.01 ng/mL. She was diagnosed with gastroduodenal perforation and thyrotoxic crisis, and we planned nonoperative management comprising nasogastric aspiration, cefmetazole sodium, omeprazole, thiamazole, and Lugol's solution. We also used landiolol, an ultrashort-acting β1 -adrenoceptor antagonist, and hydrocortisone. On the third day of admission, her thyroid function had improved with a free T3 of 4.7 pg/mL and a free T4 of 2.9 ng/dL; however, perforative peritonitis had worsened, and hence, omental patch repair was performed. She recovered uneventfully and was discharged after radioiodine administration. We discuss the management of a thyrotoxic patient with gastric perforation and focus on the importance of changing the management according to the patient's clinical course considering his thyroid function status and comparing the stress of surgery with that of perforative peritonitis in nonoperative management.
We can perceive a sound position from binaural signals using mainly head-related transfer functions (HRTFs). Using the theorem presented herein, we can display a sound image to a specific position in ...virtual auditory space by HRTFs. However, HRTF is defined commonly in a free-field, and a virtual sound image is perceived as a dry source without reflection, reverberation, or ambient noise. Therefore, the virtual sound space might be unnatural. The authors developed a software-based virtual auditory display (VAD) that outputs audio signals for a set of headphones with a three-dimensional position sensor. The VAD software can display a dynamic virtual auditory space that is responsive to a listener's head movement. Subjective evaluations were conducted to clarify the relation between the perceived reality of virtual sound space and ambient sound. Evaluation results of the reality of the virtual sound space displayed by the VAD software are introduced.
The development of the tracheal epithelium was studied in neonatal hamsters beginning on the day of birth (day 1) and ending on day 8. Morphological changes were characterized and the proportions of ...cells (basal, secretory, ciliated) and mitotic indices were quantified along dorsal and ventral epithelial surfaces. Cellular proportions were stable throughout the week but the makeup of the dorsal and ventral epithelia was different. The ventral epithelium was composed of about 59% secretory cells, 39% basal cells, and 2% ciliated cells, whereas the dorsal epithelium was composed of about 52% secretory cells, 32% basal cells, and 16% ciliated cells. Mitotic indices were generally less than 1% and mitotic activity in secretory cells predominated proportionate to the ratios of secretory cells and basal cells in dorsal and ventral epithelia. During the first postnatal week changes occurred that were related to the maturation of basal cells and secretory cells. Glycogen was rapidly lost from both cell types during the first part of the week and the lateral cell membranes became increasingly complex. Apical microvilli had formed in the secretory cells by day 2 and hemidesmosomes were well developed in the basal cells. Rough and smooth endoplasmic reticulum membranes developed rapidly in the secretory cells, and mucous granules were abundant in some cells on days 4—8, especially in the ventral epithelium between the cartilage rings.
The study shows that shifts in the proportions of basal, secretory, and ciliated cells do not occur in dorsal or ventral tracheal epithelium during the first postnatal week but the basal cells and secretory cells undergo rapid cytodifferentiation and functional maturation at this time.
In this project, technical high school students try to develop tele-control systems such as robot, an electronic fan, small model house and so on over the IPv6 environment. During the project, the ...students can touch and explore one of the latest technologies. All students looked interested in IPv6. We believe the technical high school students are expected to play important role in the coming ubiquitous stage. Our project demonstrates an example of education to establish ubiquitous world.
