La pollution atmosphérique intervient sur l’allergie aux pollens par au moins trois voies : par ses effets directs sur la santé humaine, par la modification de la santé des végétaux, par l’altération ...directe du grain de pollen allergisant. Cette revue de la littérature traite de ce dernier point : les effets chimiques ou biologiques de la pollution atmosphérique sur le grain de pollen (GP). Les effets sur la santé de ces modifications du GP ne sont pas détaillés dans cette revue de la littérature qui s’intéresse spécifiquement aux modifications biologiques, chimiques ou structurales du GP par la pollution atmosphérique. Les effets du CO2 sur les plantes et leur reproduction sont abordés dans l’article de J.-P. Besancenot sur le changement climatique.
Air pollution affects pollen allergy in at least three ways: through its direct effects on human health, through changes in plant health, and through the direct alteration of the allergenic pollen grain. This literature review addresses the latter point: the chemical or biological effects of air pollution on pollen grain (GP). The health effects of these alterations to the PG are not detailed in this literature review, which focuses specifically on biological, chemical or structural changes in PG due to air pollution. The effects of CO2 on plants and their reproduction are discussed in the article on climate change by J.-P. Besancenot.

Nanostereolithography induced by a femtosecond laser is widely used for fabrication of three-dimensional (3D) microstructures with submicron resolutions. In this study, we propose a 3D continuous ...laser scanning method for an effective direct writing of 3D microstructures. The advantages of the 3D continuous laser scanning method are analyzed by considering its high resolution, time economy, and fabrication effectiveness. As the 3D continuous laser scanning is an efficient manufacturing method, which can immediately respond to a complex 3D structure, it could be used for various applications including platforms for cell culture, metamaterials, and functional sensors. To evaluate the therapeutic effects of gamichunggantang (GCT) on hyperlipidemia through high cholesterol diet model. GCT is an Oriental herbal medication, which has been used for the treatment of ...fatty liver, hyperlipidemia or alcoholic liver disease in Daejeon University Oriental Hospital, Korea since 1999.
Rats were fed with high cholesterol diet for 4 weeks and GCT was administrated for 2 weeks from 2 weeks later in experimental days. The levels of serum total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, and triglyceride were analyzed every week. Absolute and relative liver weight to body, and histopathological changes were determined at last day. And, lipid metabolism-related gene expressions (ACAT and DGAT) in liver tissue were analyzed by using RT-PCR.
In GCT group, TG levels were reduced at 3 and 4 weeks after GCT administration (39.4 %, P < 0.05 and 36.3 %, P < 0.01 respectively). Total cholesterol levels also were reduced at 3 weeks (20.5 %, P < 0.05) and 4 weeks (35.86 %, P < 0.01) after GCT administration, but HDL-cholesterol levels were increased significantly (P < 0.05) at 3 weeks (14.7 %) and 4 weeks (25.5 %) compared with hyperlipidemia-induced group without GCT. In the GCT treated group, liver weight was lower and lipid accumulation was decreased in histological finding. ACAT gene expression was suppressed compared with hyperlipidemia-induced group but not DGAT.
GCT possesses preventive or therapeutic effects on diet-induced hyperlipidemia by inhibiting the intestinal absorption and storage of exogenous and endogenous cholesterol.

L’acérola est un fruit tropical 20 à 30 fois plus riche en vitamine C que l’orange. On trouve de l’acérola dans des comprimés ou des poudres vendus pour leur richesse en vitamine C et aussi sous ...forme de jus ou en additif dans des compotes ou jus de fruit. Excepté la mise en évidence d’une réactivité croisée d’une protéine non identifiée d’acérola avec Hev b 6 du latex, les allergènes de l’acérola n’ont pas été étudiés.
Les protéines d’acérola ont été extraites à partir du fruit frais, d’un jus commercial et de poudre riche en vitamine C. Les allergènes ont fait l’objet d’une analyse allergomique incluant des immunoempreintes grâce à des patients documentés et l’identification des protéines par spectrométrie de masse.
Les immunoempreintes IgE réalisées avec des patients sensibilisés aux lipid transfer protein (LTP) présentent une réactivité IgE dans les faibles masses moléculaires correspondant aux LTP. En revanche, ni gibberellin-regulated protein (GRP), ni PR10 et ni profiline allergéniques ne sont révélées. La présence de LTP est confirmée par l’utilisation d’anticorps anti-LTP de pêche et par leur identification dans les extraits de fruit frais et de jus commercial par spectrométrie de masse qui révèle, en outre, de nombreux allergènes potentiels. On peut aussi détecter la présence de LTP dans la poudre riche en vitamine C.
Le jus d’acérola et les produits dérivés contenant de l’acérola comportent donc un risque certain pour les patients sensibilisés aux LTP.
Acerola is a tropical fruit 20 to 30 times richer in vitamin C than oranges. Acerola is found in tablets or powders commercially available for their richness in vitamin C and also in the form of juice or as additives in compotes and fruit juices. Besides a previous report on the existence of an IgE cross-reactivity of an unidentified acerola protein with Hev b 6 from latex no studies on acerola allergens have been performed.
Acerola proteins were extracted from fresh fruit, commercial juice and a vitamin C-enriched powder. Allergens were studied by an allergomics analysis, including IgE immunoblots, using sera from documented patients followed by protein identification using mass spectrometry.
IgE Immunoblots performed with patients sensitized to LTPs, showed IgE reactivities in low molecular mass corresponding to LTPs. In contrast, no allergenic gibberellin-regulated protein (GRP), PR10 and profilin were revealed. The presence of LTP was confirmed by the use of specific anti-Pru p 3 antibodies and their identification in fresh fruit and commercial juice extracts by mass spectrometry that further unravelled several putative allergens. LTP was also detected in vitamin C-enriched powder.
Acerola fruit and juice as well as derived products containing acerola carries a risk for LTP sensitized patients.

A 40-year-old woman had been diagnosed with Crohns disease in September 1994, but later examinations revealed a primary T-cell lymphoma of the colon. Colonoscopic and histological examination showed ...ulcerative lesions simulating Crohns disease involving the entire colon and the terminal ileum, and she was first diagnosed as having Crohns disease. Differential therapeutic strategies, including corticosteroid, had improved the symptoms which were dominated by abdominal pain. When she visited our institute in April 1995, she presented with bloody stool twice a day, 7 kg weight loss in a period of six months and a slightly painful abdomen. Colonoscopic finding showed geographic ulceration on the entire colon, especially rectum and terminal ileum. The histologic examination of specimens from colonoscopic biopsy showed primary peripheral T-cell lymphoma of the colon. Any dense lymphocyte infiltrates seen in the biopsy specimens obtained from lesions simulating ulcerative colitis or Crohns disease should be assessed to exclude intestinal lymphoma.
