The archaeological site of Ribnica near Brežice has been known to the general public since the mid-1950s as the location of the Roman roadside station Romula. Between 2001 and 2004, extensive ...archaeological excavations took place on the site because of the planned construction of the Ljubljana – Obrežje highway; among other things, it proved that this location was attractive not only to the Romans, but also to settlers in prehistory, the Middle Ages, and modern times. The earliest archaeological remains at Ribnica date to the Eneolithic period, followed by the Bronze Age settlement and a few pits from the La Tène period. Among the prehistoric finds, those from the Bronze Age are the most numerous, while those from the Eneolithic and the La Tène period appear only sporadically. Although two decades have passed since the excavations at Ribnica, the research results have not been published yet. In this paper, we provide an overview of the prehistoric remains discovered in Ribnica near Brežice.
V starem mestnem jedru Kopra so se ohranile številne arheološke ostaline, naselbinskega, gospodarske-ga in pogrebnega značaja. Najzgodnejša poselitev na območju koprskega mestnega jedra sodi v čas ...antike, natančneje v čas 1. stoletja n. š., kateri sledi sosledje arheoloških ostalin srednjega in novega veka. V članku predstavljamo rezultate arheološke raziskave na lokaciji Koper, Bazoviška ulica 5a. Odkrite arheološke ostaline lahko na osnovi arheoloških najdb uvrstimo v čas od pozne antike do novoveškega obdobja.
Archaeological research in Pelagonia (North Macedonia) has undergone afresh restart over the past decade after being paused for several decades. In this article we present the results of an ...archaeological excavation at the location Školska Tumba in the village of Mogila, carried out by the Macedonian-Slovenian team in 2014. These results significantly enriched the existing knowledge on Neolithic settlement of this area as well as medieval activities at prehistoric tell settlements in general in the region.
Kaštelir above Korte near Izola is one of the best known prehistoric settlements in the Slovenian part of Istria. The site was first mentioned by Pietro Coppo in the 16th Century, at the beginning of ...20th Century Carlo Marchesetti described the site as Il castelliere d‘Albuzzano presso Corte d‘Isola, however the first proper archaeological excavation took place in the 60’s and 70’s of 20th Century. With it the site was confirmed as a prehistoric hillfort of exceptional importance. Between 2008 and 2014 Kaštelir has been a main focus of the project “Kaštelir above Korte - Cultural and recreational park”, financially supported by the Municipality of Izola and conducted by research team from University of Primorska. In article we are presenting results of the archaeological test probing, done in 2014, which demonstrates that Kaštelir above Korte must be considered not only as a prehistoric settlement but also a place of a very early Roman settlement.
This paper presents general information of the archaeological site, project requirements, execution of the project as well as results, enabling immediate and long term enhancement in the fields of ...protection, conservation and accessibility of archaeological remains as well as long-term upgrading in the fields of education, promotion and raising awareness on the importance of cultural heritage as well as in diversification of cultural tourism products.
