Introduction La résistance à l’administration de l’insuline par voie sous-cutanée ou intramusculaire (Diabetes mellitus with resistance to insulin administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly ...DRIASM) est un syndrome rare décrit chez l’adulte.
This work reviews the potential of anaerobic digestion for material recovery and energy production from fruit and vegetable wastes (FVW). These wastes contain 8–18% total solids (TS), with a total ...volatile solids (VS) content of 86–92%. The organic fraction includes about 75% easy biodegradable matter (sugars and hemicellulose), 9% cellulose and 5% lignin. Anaerobic digestion of FVW was studied under different operating conditions using different types of bioreactors. It permits the conversion of 70–95% of organic matter to methane, with a volumetric organic loading rate (OLR) o f 1–6.8
g versatile solids (VS)/l
day. A major limitation of anaerobic digestion of FVW is a rapid acidification of these wastes decreasing the pH in the reactor, and a larger volatile fatty acids production (VFA), which stress and inhibit the activity of methanogenic bacteria. Continuous two-phase systems appear as more highly efficient technologies for anaerobic digestion of FVW. Their greatest advantage lies in the buffering of the organic loading rate taking place in the first stage, allowing a more constant feeding rate of the methanogenic second stage. Using a two-stage system involving a thermophilic liquefaction reactor and a mesophilic anaerobic filter, over 95% volatile solids were converted to methane at a volumetric loading rate of 5.65
g VS/l
d. The average methane production yield was about 420
l/kg added VS.
This study aimed to explore medical students' attitudes, social perception, and knowledge towards mental illness and identify the associated factors.
A cross-sectional study was conducted in the ...Medical Faculty of Fez. A representative sample of 420 Moroccan students from the first to the seventh years was selected randomly during the academic year (2018/2019). They completed the Mental Illness Clinicians Attitudes scale (MICA) and a self-questionnaire exploring sociodemographic data, the university course, social perception and knowledge towards mental illness, and the potential consideration of psychiatry as a career.
The average age of participants was 21.73 years (SD ±2.60), and 72.4% (n=304) of respondents were female (M/F gender ratio=0.39). The participants held stigmatizing attitudes and negative social perceptions towards mental illness, as indicated by the high score of the MICA scale (mean=57.24; SD ±9.95). Females (p=0.02) and married students (p=0.02) showed significantly more tolerant attitudes. The attitudes of students (p=0.37) who completed the psychiatry clerkship were slightly more favorable (p=0.15). There was no significant difference in attitudes according to the level of study (p=0.06). Students with a lower socioeconomic level tended to be less stigmatizing (p=0.08). The assessment of knowledge about mental illness among students objectified major gaps. A total of 17.9% (n=75) considered psychiatry as a career.
The attitudes of medical students in this study were stigmatizing, and this should without delay motivate Moroccan research, educational and health authorities to investigate further scientific research in this area to address these attitudes and remedies.
The prevalence of autism spectrum disorder is increasing worldwide, making screening and early intervention necessary. Several screening instruments have been developed in recent years. The Modified ...Checklist for Autism in Toddlers Revised with Follow-up (M-CHAT-R/F) is considered to be one of the specific measures designed to identify toddlers at risk for autistic spectrum disorder.
The aim of the study was to translate and adapt the original version of M-CHAT-R/F from the English to the Moroccan Arabic language.
Specialized translators and clinicians ensured forward and backward translation of the scale into Moroccan Arabic. Then, a two-stage screening of the M-CHAT-R/F-T was applied to a study sample comprised of 56 toddlers with autistic spectrum disorder (category I) and 96 toddlers with normal development (category II). "Kappa test", "Cronbach's alpha" test, the intra class correlation coefficient, and the area under the curve were determined.
The average score results of M-CHAT-R/F were 13.12 for category I, while it was 2.24 for category II. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the checklist was 0.929. The kappa values ranged from k=0.78 to k=0.97 with a confidence interval of 95% indicating good convergence. The intra-class correlation coefficient ranged from 0.97 to 0.99, which is excellent. The area under the curve in our study was 0.988, an excellent result.
Efficiency of the Moroccan Arabic version of the MCHAT was demonstrated for screening in the general population.

We present an analysis of the near-infrared continuum emission from the circumstellar gas disks of Be stars using a radiative transfer code for a parameterized version of the viscous decretion disk ...model. This isothermal gas model creates predicted images that we use to estimate the half-width at half-maximum emission radius along the major axis of the projected disk and the spatially integrated flux excess at wavelengths of 1.7, 2.1, 4.8, 9, and 18 Delta *mm. We discuss in detail the effect of the disk base density, inclination angle, stellar effective temperature, and other physical parameters on the derived disk sizes and color excesses. We calculate color excess estimates relative to the stellar V-band flux for a sample of 130 Be stars using photometry from the Two Micron All Sky Survey and the AKARI infrared camera all-sky survey. The color excess relations from our models make a good match of the observed color excesses of Be stars. We also present our results on the projected size of the disk as a function of wavelength for the classical Be star Delta *z Tauri and show that the model predictions are consistent with interferometric observations in the H, K', and 12 Delta *mm bands.
Anaerobic digestion of cheese whey wastewaters (CW) was investigated in a system consisting of an ecological pretreatment followed by upflow anaerobic filter (UAF). The pretreatment was conducted to ...solve the inhibition problems during anaerobic treatment of CW caused by the amounts of fats, proteins and carbohydrates and to avoid the major problems of clogging in the reactor. The optimized ecological pretreatment of diluted CW induce removal yields of 50% of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and 60% of total suspended solids (TSS) after acidification by
Lactobacillus paracasei at 32
°C during 20
h and neutralization with lime. The pretreated CW was used to feed UAF (35
°C). The effects of organic loading rate (OLR) and hydraulic retention time (HRT) on the pretreated CW anaerobic degradation were examined. The average total COD removals achieved was 80–90%. The performance of the reactor was depressed by increasing the COD concentration to 20
g/l (OLR
=
4
g
COD/l
d) and the COD removal efficiency was reduced to 72%. Significant methane yield (280
l/kg COD removal) was obtained at an HRT of 2 days.
This study compares the performance of anaerobic digestion of fruit and vegetable waste (FVW) in the thermophilic (55
°C) process with those under psychrophilic (20
°C) and mesophilic (35
°C) ...conditions in a tubular anaerobic digesters on a laboratory scale. The hydraulic retention time (HRT) ranged from 10 to 20 days, and raw fruit and vegetable waste was supplied in a semi-continuous mode at various concentrations of total solids (TS) (4, 6, 8 and 10% on dry weight). Biogas production from the experimental thermophilic digester was higher on average than from psychrophilic and mesophilic digesters by 144 and 41%, respectively. The net energy production in the thermophilic digester was 195.7 and 49.07
kJ per day higher than that for the psychrophilic and mesophilic digesters, respectively. The relation between the daily production of biogas and the temperature indicates that for the same produced quantity of biogas, the size of the thermophilic digester can be reduced with regard to that of the psychrophilic and the mesophilic digesters.
We report on a high angular resolution survey of circumstellar disks around 24 northern sky Be stars. The K-band continuum survey was made using the CHARA Array long baseline interferometer ...(baselines of 30-331 m). The interferometric visibilities were corrected for the flux contribution of stellar companions in those cases where the Be star is a member of a known binary or multiple system. For those targets with good (u, upsilon) coverage, we used a four-parameter Gaussian elliptical disk model to fit the visibilities and to determine the axial ratio, position angle, K-band photospheric flux contribution, and angular diameter of the disk's major axis. For the other targets with relatively limited (u, upsilon) coverage, we constrained the axial ratio, inclination angle, and/or disk position angle where necessary in order to resolve the degeneracy between possible model solutions. We also made fits of the ultraviolet and infrared spectral energy distributions (SEDs) to estimate the stellar angular diameter and infrared flux excess of each target. The mean ratio of the disk diameter (measured in K-band emission) to stellar diameter (from SED modeling) is 4.4 among the 14 cases where we reliably resolved the disk emission, a value which is generally lower than the disk size ratio measured in the higher opacity H alpha emission line. We estimated the equatorial rotational velocity from the projected rotational velocity and disk inclination for 12 stars, and most of these stars rotate close to or at the critical rotational velocity.
The two-phase anaerobic digestion of a mixture of fruit and vegetable wastes (FVW) was studied, using two coupled anaerobic sequencing batch reactors (ASBR) operated at mesophilic temperature. The ...effect of increasing loading rates on the acidification step was investigated. Results indicated that the hydrolysis yield (81%) stabilized at an OLR of 7.5
g COD/L.d. The volatile fatty acids concentration increased when the loading rate was increased and reached its maximum value (13.3
g/L) at higher loading rate tested (10.1
g COD/L.d). Methanogenic fermentation of the liquefaction acidification products was efficiently performed in the ASBR reactor and high methane productivity was obtained (320
L CH
4 per kg of input COD). Total COD in the final effluent from the methanizer was usually below 1500
mg/L, and soluble COD below 400
mg/L. Overall COD removal in the treatment system was 96%. Phase separation with conventional ASBR reactors resulted in high process stability, significant biogas productivity and better effluent quality from fruit and vegetable wastes anaerobic digestion.
The emission-line Be star HD 215227 lies within the positional error circle of the newly identified gamma-ray source AGL J2241+4454. We present new blue spectra of the star, and we point out the ...morphological and variability similarities to other Be binaries. An analysis of the available optical photometry indicates a variation with a period of 60.37 ? 0.04 days, which may correspond to an orbital modulation of the flux from the disk surrounding the Be star. The distance to the star of 2.6 kpc and its relatively large Galactic latitude suggest that the binary was ejected from the plane by a supernova explosion that created the neutron star or black hole companion. The binary and runaway properties of HD 215227 make it an attractive candidate as the optical counterpart of AGL J2241+4454 and as a new member of the small class of gamma-ray emitting binaries.
