Although being the first-line treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), sorafenib (SOR) outcome is limited due to drug resistance and low tumor accumulation. Herein, with MnO

as ...photothermal agent and chlorine6 (Ce6) as photosensitizer, a tumor-targeting and NIR-triggered multifunctional nanoplatform loading sorafenib (MnO

-SOR-Ce6@PDA-PEG-FA, MSCPF) was constructed. Owing to oxygen generator MnO
2
, MSCPF could generate excessive ROS, thus can alleviate tumor hypoxia and improve sorafenib accumulation in cancer cells. Besides, ROS production further strengthens Ce6-mediated PDT and PDA-mediated PTT. By exploiting these features, MSCPF exhibited excellent antitumor effects on HCC in the in vitro and in vivo studies, compared to solo sorafenib or PDT/PTT treatment. Further mechanism experiments suggested that MSCPF could inhibit P-gp expression and induce ferroptosis via deactivation of GPX4 and SLC7A11, which ultimately enhanced the antitumor efficacy of SOR. In summary, our work highlights a promising NIR-triggered and ROS-boosted nanoplatform for enhanced chemo/PDT/PTT synergistic therapy of SOR in HCC treatment.

Abstract
Prosocial behavior acting as a precondition for shaping ideal interpersonal relationships, is curial in the development of a person’s social competence. This study examined the association ...between empathy and prosocial behavior in a sample of 1171 adolescents in China. An empathy questionnaire, social support rating scale, and helping attitude scale were applied in the study. Empathy had an influence on prosocial behavior through social support as a mediating factor. The mediating effect of social support between empathy and prosocial behavior was mainly manifested through perceived social support. The current findings imply that cultivating the empathy of adolescents and promoting their perceived social support may be effective to enhancing their prosocial behavior.
Backgrounds:
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of primary liver cancer and the second leading cause of death among all cancers. The Ras-associated binding (Rab) proteins ...constitute the largest family of the Ras superfamily of small GTPases, which mainly mediate membrane trafficking processes. RAB6B is a member of Rab GTPases, and it has been found to be dysregulated in various tumors. However, the clinical significance, correlations with immune cells, and stroma infiltration of RAB6B in HCC remain unclear.
Methods:
RAB6B mRNA and protein expression in HCC were examined using the TIMER, HCCDB, UALCAN, and HPA databases. The genetic alterations of RAB6B were analyzed by cBioPortal and COSMIC databases. The correlations between RAB6B and tumor-infiltrating immune cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts were explored by using TIMER, TISIDB, and GEPIA databases. Co-expression networks of RAB6B were investigated based on LinkedOmics. Drug sensitivity was analyzed through the GDSC and CTRP databases. RAB6B was knocked down with siRNA in HCC cell lines. EdU assay was performed to detect the cell proliferation ability, flow cytometry was used to compare the differences in the ability of apoptosis, and MTT was used to evaluate the drug sensitivity
in vitro
.
Results:
RAB6B mRNA and protein expression were upregulated in the HCC tissues. Kaplan–Meier and Cox regression analyses suggested that highly expressed RAB6B was an independent prognostic factor for poor survival in HCC patients. Moreover, we found that RAB6B expression was positively correlated with the infiltration of immune cells in HCC, including some immunosuppressive cells, chemokines, and receptors, meanwhile RAB6B expression was associated with CD8+T cells exhaustion, resulting in an immunosuppressive microenvironment. Additionally, functional enrichment analysis indicated that RAB6B may be involved in ECM remodeling in the TME, and RAB6B expression was positively associated with CAFs infiltration. Furthermore, RAB6B presented a positive association with sensitivity to GDSC and CTRP drugs. RAB6B knockdown inhibited the cell proliferation and promoted apoptosis and sensitivity to cisplatin of HCC cells
in vitro
.
Conclusion:
Our study revealed that RAB6B is a potential biomarker for poor prognosis in HCC patients and correlates with the formation of the immunosuppressive microenvironment in HCC.
Anaplastic thyroid carcinomas (ATCs) are a rare subtype of thyroid cancers with a low incidence but extremely high invasiveness and fatality. The treatment of ATCs is very challenging, and currently, ...a comprehensive individualized therapeutic strategy involving surgery, radiotherapy (RT), chemotherapy, BRAF/MEK inhibitors (BRAFi/MEKi) and immunotherapy is preferred. For ATC patients in stage IVA/IVB, a surgery-based comprehensive strategy may provide survival benefits. Unfortunately, ATC patients in IVC stage barely get benefits from the current treatment. Recently, nanoparticle delivery of siRNAs, targeted drugs, cytotoxic drugs, photosensitizers and other agents is considered as a promising anti-cancer treatment. Nanoparticle drug delivery systems have been mainly explored in the treatment of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). With the rapid development of drug delivery techniques and nanomaterials, using hybrid nanoparticles as the drug carrier to deliver siRNAs, targeted drugs, immune drugs, chemotherapy drugs and phototherapy drugs to ATC patients have become a hot research field. This review aims to describe latest findings of nanoparticle drug delivery systems in the treatment of ATCs, thus providing references for the further analyses.
Altruistic behavior is of great significance for individual happiness and social development. The study has focused on the influence of two factors at the individual level on college students’ ...altruistic behavior. The self-report questionnaires of 2,272 college students on belief in a just world, empathy and altruistic behavior were investigated. The results of the study found that: 1) Just-world belief and empathy both positively predicted altruistic behavior; 2) Empathy influenced altruistic behavior through just-world belief. And from the perspective of motivation theory, it explains that individuals affirm that altruistic behavior will bring spiritual pleasure, so individuals will maintain the consistency of their own internal factors to promote altruistic behavior. This study enriches the research value of altruistic behavior at the individual level and provides an empirical basis for the cultivation of altruistic behavior at the individual level.
This systematic review synthesizes the empirical evidence of equity-oriented teacher education's (EOTE) effects on preservice teachers (PSTs) generated from 13 countries and published in 58 articles ...between 2011 and 2020. Looking across the literature, we identify a system of EOTE interventions enacted at programmatic, curricular, pedagogical, and activity levels and their differing effects on PSTs' dispositions, knowledge, and performance for equity-oriented teaching. We highlight these findings' conceptual and practical contributions, raise questions about measuring equity, tracing long-term effects, and balancing equity with other values, and outline directions for future research to advance the field of EOTE.

Well-being is an important indicator of an individual's mental health and each individual plays an agency role in their own well-being attainment. Empathy, as a positive emotional quality at the ...individual level, facilitating the establishment and maintenance of individual interpersonal relationships according to the interpersonal theory of empathy. This study investigated the relationship between empathy, social support and subjective well-being in a total of 191 children and adolescents with deaf and hard of hearing in two boarding special education schools after experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic from Henan Province of China. The results indicated that social support mediates the role of empathy and subjective well-being. The mediating role of social support between empathy and subjective well-being was mainly manifested as peer support rather than teacher support. Fostering empathy and creating a positive social support network among adolescents with deaf and hard of hearing would be effective in enhancing their subjective well-being.
Studies have shown that teaching with picture books can help improve creativity development of deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) students. A quasi-experimental research design was applied in this study. ...Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in grades 3-6 from two cities, B and T, were selected as the samples in a pilot study. The Evaluation of Potential Creativity (EPoC) test tool (Ver. A) was applied to measure creativity through student performance on individual tests of divergent and integrative thinking. Following thirty 40-min lessons over 10 weeks, the EPoC test tool (Ver. B) was used to measure student creativity in the experimental and control groups. The results showed the following: (1) the performance of DHH students was better on graphic divergence than on verbal divergence, (2) performance on the divergent dimensions of creativity was significantly higher for DHH students from the experimental group than the control group, and (3) there was no difference in integrative thinking between the two groups in the posttest. In practice, teachers could use picture books in their lesson plans to improve the creativity of DHH students that results from divergent thinking. Future research should focus on the development of creativity in DHH students through integrative thinking with a longer teaching intervention.
•P63,P40,cyclin D1,CK19 and PAX8 positivity in both PTC and SC components.•Both PTC and spindle cell SC components shared the same BRAFV600E missense mutation.•Only classical PTC but not columnar ...cell PTC and SC had been identified in 7 out of 50 excised cervical lymph nodes.•The patient has not received any other treatment after radical surgery. She had no tumor recurrence and other complications 13 months after operations.
We report a case of the anaplastic spindle cell squamous carcinoma(SC) arising from classical papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC) with foci of columnar cell component in a 69-year-old Chinese woman. The tumor of the right lobe was composed of spindle cell SC and PTC. Histologically, the spindle cell SC were arranged into bundles with marked cellular atypia, nuclear pleomorphism and more mitotic figures. The tumor of the left lobe was a PTC without any SC elements, which was composed of two components, namely classical and columnar cell variants PTC. The columnar cell elements occupied more than 20 % of PTC, which showed striking stratification of nuclei with no characteristic nuclei for the classical type of PTC. The patient has not received any other treatment after radical surgery. She had no tumor recurrence and other complications 13 months after operation. Only classical PTC but not columnar cell PTC and SC had been identified in 7 out of 50 excised cervical lymph nodes. In order to clarify the origin of PTC and spindle cell SC, we performed the BRAFV600E(c.1799 T > A) mutational analysis. The results of molecular analysis showed that BRAFV600E(c.1799 T > A) mutation existed in both components, which further confirmed that spindle cell SC was transformed from PTC.
