Abstract
We present the second release of value-added catalogues of the LAMOST Spectroscopic Survey of the Galactic Anticentre (LSS-GAC DR2). The catalogues present values of radial velocity Vr, ...atmospheric parameters – effective temperature Teff, surface gravity log g, metallicity Fe/H, α-element to iron (metal) abundance ratio α/Fe (α/M), elemental abundances C/H and N/H and absolute magnitudes MV and $M_{K_{\rm s}}$ deduced from 1.8 million spectra of 1.4 million unique stars targeted by the LSS-GAC since 2011 September until 2014 June. The catalogues also give values of interstellar reddening, distance and orbital parameters determined with a variety of techniques, as well as proper motions and multiband photometry from the far-UV to the mid-IR collected from the literature and various surveys. Accuracies of radial velocities reach 5 km s−1 for the late-type stars, and those of distance estimates range between 10 and 30 per cent, depending on the spectral signal-to-noise ratios. Precisions of Fe/H, C/H and N/H estimates reach 0.1 dex, and those of α/Fe and α/M reach 0.05 dex. The large number of stars, the contiguous sky coverage, the simple yet non-trivial target selection function and the robust estimates of stellar radial velocities and atmospheric parameters, distances and elemental abundances make the catalogues a valuable data set to study the structure and evolution of the Galaxy, especially the solar-neighbourhood and the outer disc.
We measure the quantum speed of the state evolution of the field in a weakly driven optical cavity QED system. To this end, the mode of the electromagnetic field is considered as a quantum system of ...interest with a preferential coupling to a tunable environment: the atoms. By controlling the environment, i.e., changing the number of atoms coupled to the optical cavity mode, an environment-assisted speed-up is realized: the quantum speed of the state repopulation in the optical cavity increases with the coupling strength between the optical cavity mode and this non-Markovian environment (the number of atoms).
We present the ancillary data and basic physical measurements for the galaxies in the ALMA Large Program to Investigate C+ at Early Times (ALPINE) survey-the first large multiwavelength survey that ...aims at characterizing the gas and dust properties of 118 main-sequence galaxies at redshifts 4.4 < z < 5.9 via the measurement of emission at (64% at >3.5 ) and the surrounding far-infrared continuum in conjunction with a wealth of optical and near-infrared data. We outline in detail the spectroscopic data and selection of the galaxies as well as the ground- and space-based imaging products. In addition, we provide several basic measurements including stellar masses, star formation rates (SFR), rest-frame ultra-violet (UV) luminosities, UV continuum slopes (β), and absorption line redshifts, as well as H emission derived from Spitzer colors. We find that the ALPINE sample is representative of the 4 < z < 6 galaxy population selected by photometric methods and only slightly biased toward bluer colors (Δβ ∼ 0.2). Using as tracer of the systemic redshift (confirmed for one galaxy at z = 4.5 out of 118 for which we obtained optical λ3727 emission), we confirm redshifted Ly emission and blueshifted absorption lines similar to findings at lower redshifts. By stacking the rest-frame UV spectra in the rest frame, we find that the absorption lines in galaxies with high specific SFR are more blueshifted, which could be indicative of stronger winds and outflows.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is considered as one of the most common causes of chronic liver disease. It includes a group of conditions associated with fat deposition in liver cells. ...Also, NAFLD is strongly associated with obesity and insulin resistance (IR). Until now, there is no pharmacological treatment validated for this disease. Fasting, nutritional intervention, and weight loss can be considered the first line in treating hepatic steatosis. This review is based on the scientific evidence showing the results of these interventions in the past years. The results include fasting and nutritional support for NAFLD treatment in humans. In clinical trials and cohort studies, an increase in hepatic fat content was correlated with a weight loss of at least 7% and a diet resembling the Mediterranean diet (MD) improving hepatic biomarkers and histological regression of NAFLD. Fasting is a dietary approach known to improve the lipid profile in healthy and obese populations by decreasing overall cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, and increasing HDL. Bariatric surgery helps improve liver fat content in patients with serious health problems due to overweight.
The management of patients with syncope in the emergency department (ED) is challenging because no robust risk tool available has been recommended for clinical use.
To validate the Canadian Syncope ...Risk Score (CSRS) in a new cohort of patients with syncope to determine its ability to predict 30-day serious outcomes not evident during index ED evaluation.
This prospective multicenter cohort study conducted at 9 EDs across Canada included patients 16 years and older who presented to EDs within 24 hours of syncope. Patients were enrolled from March 2014 to April 2018.
Baseline characteristics, CSRS predictors, and 30-day adjudicated serious outcomes, including arrhythmic (arrhythmias, interventions for arrhythmia, or unknown cause of death) and nonarrhythmic (myocardial infarction, structural heart disease, pulmonary embolism, or hemorrhage) serious outcomes, were collected. Calibration and discrimination characteristics for CSRS validation were calculated.
A total of 3819 patients were included (mean SD age 53.9 22.8 years; 2088 54.7% female), of whom 139 (3.6%) experienced 30-day serious outcomes, including 13 patients (0.3%) who died. In the validation cohort, there were no differences between the predicted and observed risk, the calibration slope was 1.0, and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.91 (95% CI, 0.88-0.93). The empirical probability of a 30-day serious outcome during validation was 3.64% (95% CI, 3.09%-4.28%) compared with the model-predicted probability of 3.17% (95% CI, 2.66%-3.77%; P = .26). The proportion of patients with 30-day serious outcomes increased from 3 of 1631 (0.3%) in the very-low-risk group to 40 of 78 (51.3%) in the very-high-risk group (Cochran-Armitage trend test P < .001). There was a similar significant increase in the serious outcome subtypes with increasing CSRS risk category. None of the very-low-risk and low-risk patients died or experienced ventricular arrhythmia. At a threshold score of -1 (2145 of 3819 patients), the CSRS sensitivity and specificity were 97.8% (95% CI, 93.8%-99.6%) and 44.3% (95% CI, 42.7%-45.9%), respectively.
The CSRS was successfully validated and its use is recommended to guide ED management of patients when serious causes are not identified during index ED evaluation. Very-low-risk and low-risk patients can generally be discharged, while brief hospitalization can be considered for high-risk patients. We believe CSRS implementation has the potential to improve patient safety and health care efficiency.
The in‐depth understanding of ions' generation and movement inside all‐inorganic perovskite quantum dots (CsPbBr3 QDs), which may lead to a paradigm to break through the conventional von Neumann ...bottleneck, is strictly limited. Here, it is shown that formation and annihilation of metal conductive filaments and Br− ion vacancy filaments driven by an external electric field and light irradiation can lead to pronounced resistive‐switching effects. Verified by field‐emission scanning electron microscopy as well as energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy analysis, the resistive switching behavior of CsPbBr3 QD‐based photonic resistive random‐access memory (RRAM) is initiated by the electrochemical metallization and valance change. By coupling CsPbBr3 QD‐based RRAM with a p‐channel transistor, the novel application of an RRAM–gate field‐effect transistor presenting analogous functions of flash memory is further demonstrated. These results may accelerate the technological deployment of all‐inorganic perovskite QD‐based photonic resistive memory for successful logic application.
Resistive random‐access memory (RRAM) and RRAM‐functionalized field‐effect transistors (FETs) based on photon tunable CsPbBr3 quantum dots are demonstrated. The formation and annihilation of metal conductive filaments and bromine‐vacancy filaments in CsPbBr3 quantum dot arrays can be realized under an electric field and light irradiation. The devices exhibit multilevel data storage using light tuning, which may accelerate the technological deployment of all‐inorganic perovskite QD‐based photonic memory.
Neuromorphic computing systems that are capable of parallel information storage and processing with high area and energy efficiencies, offer important opportunities for future storage systems and ...in‐memory computing. Here, it is shown that a carbon dots/silk protein (CDs/silk) blend can be used as a light‐tunable charge trapping medium to fabricate an electro‐photoactive transistor synapse. The synaptic device can be optically operated in volatile or nonvolatile modes, ensuring concomitant short‐term and long‐term neuroplasticity. The synaptic‐like behaviors are attributed to the photogating effect induced by trapped photogenerated electrons in the hybrid CDs/silk film which is confirmed with atomic force microscopy based electrical techniques. In addition, system‐level pattern recognition capability of the synaptic device is evaluated by a single‐layer perceptron model. The remote optical operation of neuromorphic architecture provides promising building blocks to complete bioinspired photonic computing paradigms.
An optoelectronic synaptic transistor based on a hybrid light‐tunable charge trapping medium is demonstrated. Optical programming and electrical erasing memory characteristics, along with volatile and nonvolatile memory are features of the synaptic device, enabling the mimicking of a range of neuroplasticity behaviors, including short‐term plasticity and long‐term potentiation.
An increasing lack of information truthfulness has become a fundamental challenge to communications. Insights into how to debunk this type of misinformation can especially be crucial for public ...health crises. To identify corrective information strategies that increase awareness and trigger actions during infectious disease outbreaks, an online experiment (N = 700) was conducted, using a U.S. sample. After initial misinformation exposure, participants' exposure to corrective information type (simple rebuttal vs. factual elaboration) and source (government health agency vs. news media vs. social peer) was varied, including a control group without corrective information. Results show that, if corrective information is present rather than absent, incorrect beliefs based on misinformation are debunked and the exposure to factual elaboration, compared to simple rebuttal, stimulates intentions to take protective actions. Moreover, government agency and news media sources are found to be more successful in improving belief accuracy compared to social peers. The observed mediating role of crisis emotions reveals the mechanism underlying the effects of corrective information. The findings contribute to misinformation research by providing a formula for correcting the increasing spread of misinformation in times of crisis.
The nodal-line semimetals have attracted immense interest due to the unique electronic structures such as the linear dispersion and the vanishing density of states as the Fermi energy approaching the ...nodes. Here, we report temperature-dependent transport and scanning tunneling microscopy (spectroscopy) STM(S) measurements on nodal-line semimetal ZrSiSe. Our experimental results and theoretical analyses consistently demonstrate that the temperature induces Lifshitz transitions at 80 and 106 K in ZrSiSe, which results in the transport anomalies at the same temperatures. More strikingly, we observe a V-shaped dip structure around Fermi energy from the STS spectrum at low temperature, which can be attributed to co-effect of the spin-orbit coupling and excitonic instability. Our observations indicate the correlation interaction may play an important role in ZrSiSe, which owns the quasi-two-dimensional electronic structures.
For following the trend of miniaturization as per Moore’s law, increasing efforts have been made to develop single devices with versatile functionalities for Internet of Things (IoT). In this work, ...organic optical memory devices with excellent dual optoelectronic functionality including light sensing and data storage have been proposed. The Au@Ag core–shell nanorods (NRs)-based memory device exhibits large memory window up to 19.7 V due to the well-controlled morphology of Au@Ag NRs with optimum size and concentration. Furthermore, since the extinction intensity of Au@Ag NRs gradually enhance with the increase in Ag shell thickness, the phototunable behaviors of memory device were systematically studied by varying the thickness of Ag shell. Multilevel data storage can be achieved with the light assistant. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate that the phototunable memory property is originated from the multimode localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of Au@Ag NRs, which is in consistent with the experimental results. The Au@Ag core–shell NRs-based memories may open up a new strategy toward developing high-performance optoelectronic devices.
