To use for GEKKO XII Module glass laser system, we have developed an oscillator system, which consists of a mode-locked YAG laser, a pulse selector, a pulse shaper, and controller circuits. The ...mode-locked YAG laser oscillates at a wavelength of 1.052μm and gives out-put energy of 10 μJ/pulse. The pulse width is variable in a range from 90ps to 1.4ns. The pulse selector switches out a single pulse from a mode-locked pulse train with 50% transmittance. The ratio of the energy of the selected pulse to that of the unselected prepalses is greater than 108. The pulse shaper is of a passive type. It produces a shaped pulse whose envelope is determined by the requirements for target compression experiments.
We have recently experienced a case of non-A non-B posttransfution hepatitis (NANB-PTH) having developed liver cirrhosis during the follow-up period of several years. Such a follow-up case is a few ...in the literatures. A 69-year-old female was transfused 13 units of blood when she received hysterectomy because of carcinoma of the uterus. At that time, the liver surface of the patient was visibly smooth. Thirty-five days after the blood transfusion, serum transaminase levels began to elevate, but she was almost asymptomatic and had no jaundice. No serological evidence of infection of HAV, CMV, or EBV was obtained. Since then, serum transaminases have fluctuated with s-GPT peak levels of 300 to 500IU/L and never returned to normal levels as long as about 3 years. Three years and 4 months after the onset of the disease, the liver already showed a completely cirrhotic feature on both laparoscopy and liver biopsy.
The clinical and laboratory features of urinary tract infection were studied on symptomatic as well as asymptomatic children. Among 77950;, 68(0.09%) had significant bacteriuria in asymptomatic ...schoolchildren in Chiba City in 1977. E. coli was found to be the main cause. Radiological examination was performed in 13 of the 68 children. Vesicoureteric refluxes and neurogenic bladder dysfunction were found in 8(61.5%) children. Follow-up study six month later revealed that 56 children were under medical care and 47(84%) were free from infection. On the other hand, symptomatic urinary tract infections were studied on outpatient children visiting the Department of Urology, Chiba University, during the period of 1975 to 1977. Among total 1327 outpatient children, 215(16.2%) revealed to have urinary tract infections (cystitis: 82, vesicoureteric reflux: 24, pyelonephritis: 22, vulvitis: 19, neurogenic bladder dysfunction: 14, urolithiasis: 14, etc). Various organisms such as E. coli: 21, Krebsiella: 5, Enterobacter: 3, Proteus: 2, Staphylococcus: 2 were isolated from these patients.
The vacuum vessel of JT-60, JAERI large tokamak device whose construction has just been started in fiscal year 1977, is a toroidal chamber made from Inconel 625 and consists of eight rigid sectorial ...rings and U-shaped parallel bellows. It has a major radius of 3m, a non-circular cross section with a bore of 3m and an electric resistance of 1.3mΩ. The ultimate vacuum pressure is less than 10-8 torr. The vessel is loaded by atmospheric pressure and various electromagnetic forces during a discharge at a temperature up to 400°C. Construction of such a large vacuum vessel as in the JT-60 has never been made in the past and necessitated to undertake a series of research and development (R & D) regarding selection of vacuum vessel materials, manufacture of components, selection of surface treatment technique and methods for analyzing stress, strain, buckling and temperature distribution of the vacuum vessel. The present R & D was completed and established design and fabrication technique for the construction of the JT-60 vacuum vessel with such satisfactory results that Inconel 625 was selected as the vacuum vessel material, fabrication technique of bellows with a non-circular cross section was established, the availability of the surface treatment technique was verified and a new finite element method specially suited for the stress analysis of such structures was developed.
