Introdução: A RDA anuncia grandes mudanças no processo de catalogação e uma nova maneira de representar os recursos informacionais. O treinamento e a implementação da RDA em bibliotecas requerem ...grandes esforças dos catalogadores. Este artigo apresenta parte dos resultados de uma dissertação de mestrado. Objetivo: Apontar as principais ações de treinamentos para implementação da RDA desenvolvidos pelos países membros que participaram do seu desenvolvimento, pelas bibliotecas de outros países e identificar as principais preferências de programas, métodos e tópicos de conteúdo para treinamento da RDA pelos catalogadores da UFMG. Método: Utilizou-se a metodologia de objetivos exploratórios e descritivos e de aspectos quantitativos, a pesquisa bibliográfica, e também, como instrumento para coleta de dados a entrevista semiestruturada. Resultados: Apontam que o treinamento presencial é o método preferido pelos catalogadores e o conteúdo preferido para treinamento são as mudanças em relação à RDA e AACR2. Conclusão: Ressalta-se que o treinamento é uma etapa importante para a implementação da RDA e que a identificação de preferencias de treinamentos por parte das instituições é uma passo primordial para definir bem que instrumentos de treinamentos serão utilizados e introduzidos ao pessoal de suas comunidades de informação.

The IRIS consortium of Florentine area art history and humanities libraries with its American, Dutch and Italian partners accommodates in its union catalogue RDA records currently arriving from the ...Berenson Library (Villa I Tatti, The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies) and the Library of Congress via the Z39.50 protocol. This brief paper will describe what steps the consortium is taking to assure that our rich specialized bibliographic patrimony does not find its end in a bibliographic “silo”. With reference to the evolving situation in Italy regarding the transition to RDA: the decision taken by the Vatican Apostolic Library and URBE (Unione Romana Biblioteche Ecclesiastiche) to move to RDA in 2017 could be for IRIS consortium a precious source of guidance based on shared experience.

تعد الفهرسة والفهارس من اکثر الحقول تأثرًا بالتطورات الهائلة التی طرأت على تکنولوجیا المعلومات المتمثلة بثورة الانترنت والسیادة المطلقة التی فرضتها البیئة الشبکیة على مصادر المعلومات و إجراءات ...معالجتها واتاحتها، وقد شهدت السنوات العشرة الاخیرة على وجه الخصوص غزارة هائلة لا مثیل لها فی مجال النشر الالکترونی المتمثل بالحجم الهائل الاوعیة المعلومات الالکترونیة بشکلیها المحمل على اوساط مادیة اوالموجود بشکل افتراضی على ملایین المواقع فی الشبکة وقد رافق هذا التطور الهائل فی النشر الالکترونی تطور مماثل بوسائل السیطرة الالکترونیة على تدفق المعلومات وما تتضمنه من قواعد ومعاییر ولغات ونماذج ومبادرات الخ، لذا جاءت الدراسة لتسلط الضوء على تلک الوسائل والاسالیب المبتکرة التی تختلف فی الغالب عن سابقتها من الاسالیب التی اصبحت تقلیدیة وما تتضمنه من مفاهیم جدیدة قد غیرت من وجهة الاجراءات الفنیة وحولتها باتجاهات اخرى، کالوسائل التی تعمل تحت مظلة ما یعرف بالمیتاداتا Metadata (مارک21 ، معیار دبلن کور، لغات ترمیز مثل HTML) و (XML، وما تم تطویره من معاییر فی هذا الاتجاه کمعیار(MODS) لوصف الوعاء او الکیان، وغیرها)، بحیث تتلائم مع الطبیعة الخاصة بمصادر المعلومات الالکترونیة لاسیما مصادر الانترنت، کما ظهر نموذجFRBR المتطلبات الوظیفیة للتسجیلة الببلیوغرافیة، کنموذج یصف تجمیع الکیانات المختلفة فی المحیط الببلیوغرافی ویوضح العلاقات الببلیوغرافیة بینها، وعلیه جاءت قواعد وصف المصادر واتاحتها RDA لتکمل قواعد الفهرسة الانکلو امریکیة AACR2 ، کون الاولى تعمل فی بیئة الانترنت وتتکامل مع ما مهدت الیه تلک الوسائل وما تم تطویره منها، اما الثانیة فتعمل فی بیئة الورق وأسالیبها التقلیدیة. وقد اعتمدت الباحثة المنهج الوصفی والرجوع الى ادبیات الموضوع، وخلصت الدراسة بالخروج بنتیجة حتمیة لدعوة مجتمع المعلومات والمکتبات لاسیما فی مجتمعنا القریب نحو التغییر التدریجی الشامل فی اسالیب الفهرسة واشکال الفهارس وفی مناهج التعلیم فی اقسام المکتبات ومدارسها وتدریب العاملین فی مکتباتنا على ما یؤهلهم للتعامل مع البیئة الالکترونیة الجدیدة.

One of these libraries is the National Library of Greece, which consults the Library of Congress database before establishing authorities. There are cultural differences in names and subjects between the Library of Congress and the National Library, but some National Library terms may be more appropriate for users than the Library of Congress-established forms.
Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (RDA Edition) (DCRMR) is a rare materials cataloging standard aligned with the official RDA Toolkit. DCRMR is informed by core principles of community and ...sustainability while employing open-source publication models and infrastructure. The RBMS RDA Editorial Group, composed of rare materials catalogers actively working in the field, is responsible for developing and maintaining DCRMR. This article discusses predecessor rare materials cataloging standards that led to the development of DCRMR, the principles and constraints that shaped DCRMR from its initial inception to eventual release, the method and technical tools used to achieve the RBMS RDA Editorial Group’s outcomes, and future directions for development.
PurposeThe term “Brazilian popular music” refers to a varied repertoire of musical styles with a strong connection to local culture. The initiatives of representation of this domain of interest occur ...through adaptations of generic models and strategies coming from contexts and musical styles that differ from the essential characteristics of the national music. The purpose of this paper is to present a characterization of Brazilian popular music as a conceptual model which supports the communication and analysis of this domain and serves as a reference ontology for various applications in the field of Information Science and others.Design/methodology/approachTo achieve the purpose, a mapping about Brazilian popular music was done from a literature review and a data collection with expert users, based on domain analysis theory. From this characterization, the conceptual model was built using an Ontology Engineering approach. To facilitate understanding, the results were described using a more user-friendly notation.FindingsThe paper presents a conceptual model as a first semantic reference on Brazilian popular music that serves (1) to better understand, communicate and analyze the domain of Brazilian popular music and, (2) to supply some semantic aspects not covered by the adaptations that have been proposed on the literature for musical representation.Originality/valueThe paper adds a new perspective to the understanding of Brazilian popular music and open opportunity to explore other repertoires about popular music.
