Aiming at the potential presence of mixing automatic identification system (AIS) signals, a new demodulation scheme was proposed for separating other interfering signals in satellite systems. The ...combined iterative cross-correlation demodulation scheme, referred to as CICCD, yielded a set of single short signals based on the prior information of AIS, after the frequency, code rate and modulation index were estimated. It demodulates the corresponding short codes according to the maximum peak of cross-correlation, which is simple and easy to implement. Numerical simulations show that the bit error rate of proposed algorithm improves by about 40% compared with existing ones, and about 3 dB beyond the standard AIS receiver. In addition, the proposed demodulation scheme shows the satisfying performance and engineering value in mixing AIS environment and can also perform well in low signal-to-noise conditions.
Port terminals are critical nodes in the maritime transport network and play a significant role in the global supply chain. However, they still suffer from many disruptions entailed by their complex ...environment leading to many challenges. With the maritime digital transformation, ports and ships produce significant amounts of data offering an opportunity to use Machine Learning techniques to address some issues and support port terminal operations management. This paper addresses the problem of vessel arrival times prediction to destination ports using Machine Learning models and vessels’ historical trajectories data. This paper also provides a structured overview of research work concerning the contribution of Machine Learning techniques in handling port terminal concerns. The existing literature shows that related work has tackled different problems, but further development is needed.
Over the past few decades, ultraviolet (UV) water treatment has become widely recognized and accepted by regulatory agencies as a proven disinfection process. With the increased awareness of health ...concerns and water quality, UV disinfection is quickly gaining popularity in the consumer market as a safe, effective, and economical approach to disinfection. In order to disinfect properly, conventional UV water-treatment systems keep their light intensity at maximum level regardless of the operating condition; this results in unnecessary energy waste along with lamp-life-span reduction. In this paper, a new design of high-power-factor low-cost electronic ballast with intelligent control for UV water-treatment system is proposed. For the purposes of energy saving, an intelligent-control algorithm is proposed to dim the luminance of the UV lamp according to the measured water flow rate and UV light intensity. Accurate knowledge of the characteristics of the UV lamps is essential for the ballast design. Therefore, an automatic identification system is also proposed in this paper to obtain the characteristic parameters, which are the dynamic and steady-state profiles of the UV lamps. Systematic design procedures are then presented accordingly. The proposed UV water-treatment system boasts the advantages, such as compactness, low cost, and energy saving, and is suitable for residential users. According to the experimental results, the energy-saving capability of the proposed system is better than 50%.

And, real-time display and data query about this distribution are realized on the ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information Sysytem). The system can provide real-time, reliable and intuitive pollution distribution and data query for some environment protection and other related departments. It has practical significance to the pollution prevention and environment protection.
