In Emerging Adulthood, Arnett examines in detail the lives of people in their late teens and twenties - a period of exploration, instability, possibility, self-focus, and a sustained sense of being ...in limbo. An increasing number of emerging adults emphasise meaningful and satisying work - not just a job - to a degree not seen in prior generations. Marrying late, often after a series of intimate relationships, they have new and different hopes and fears about long-term commitments, love, and sex. Emerging adults face the challenge of defneding their new and longer road to adulthood to parents and others who entered adulthood at an earlier age in a different time. In spite of these challenges, Arnett's research shows emerging adults are particularly skilled at maintaining contradictory emotions.

C. J. Pascoe's unorthodox approach analyzes masculinity as not only a gendered process but also a sexual one. She demonstrates how the "specter of the fag" becomes a disciplinary mechanism for regulating heterosexual as well as homosexual boys and how the "fag discourse" is as much tied to gender as it is to sexuality.
Eine längerfristige Betrachtung elterlicher Medienerziehung findet noch kaum Beachtung. Ziel des vorliegenden Beitrags ist es Parental Mediation Strategien (aktive, restriktive und technische ...Mediation, ebenso wie Monitoring) empirisch über einen längeren Zeitraum zu untersuchen. Ein multiperspektivischer Ansatz ermöglicht einen Vergleich zwischen Eltern- und Jugendlichenperspektive. Eine besondere Rolle spielt zudem die Frage, wie konsequent sich Eltern in diesen Erziehungsstrategien verhalten und ob ebenfalls zeitliche Veränderungen beobachtbar sind. Die quantitative Panelstudie «Verläufe exzessiver Internetnutzung in Familien (VEIF)» liefert über vier Erhebungswellen im Abstand von etwa einem Jahr Daten aus Eltern- und Jugendlichensicht. So kann durch die Auswertung ein multiperspektivischer und längsschnittlicher Einblick gewonnen werden. Die Heranwachsenden waren zu Beginn zwischen 12 und 14 Jahren alt. Zwischen den Einschätzungen aus Jugendlichen- und Elternsicht zeigen sich mittlere bis starke Zusammenhänge, in den Mittelwerten allerdings auch signifikante Unterschiede. So werden die verschiedenen Strategien aus Erziehendenperspektive häufiger angewandt als aus Sicht der Jugendlichen. Längsschnittlich nehmen die Mittelwerte der eingesetzten Strategien aus beiden Sichtweisen signifikant ab. Anders gestaltet es sich in Bezug auf die inkonsistente Mediation: Eltern schätzen sich insgesamt konsequenter in ihrer Medienerziehung ein als die Heranwachsenden dies tun und es handelt sich aus beiden Perspektiven um einen zeitlich relativ stabilen Aspekt.
Research has hardly taken a longer-term view on parental mediation into account yet. The aim of this paper is to investigate empirically parental mediation strategies (active, restrictive and technical mediation, as well as monitoring) over a long-term period. A multi-perspective approach allows the comparison between parental and adolescent perspectives. The question of how consistently parents behave in these educational strategies and whether one can observe changes over time plays a special role. The quantitative panel study «Trajectories of excessive Internet use in families (VEIF)» provides data from parental and adolescent perspectives over four waves at intervals of about one year. The paper gains a multi-perspective and longitudinal insight. The adolescents were between 12 and 14 years old at baseline. There are moderate to strong correlations between the assessments from adolescent and parental perspectives, but there are also significant differences in the mean values. The various strategies are used more frequently from the educator‘s perspective than from the adolescent perspective. Longitudinally, the mean values of the strategies decrease significantly from both perspectives. The situation is different regarding inconsistent mediation: parents rate themselves more consistent in their media education than do the adolescents, and this is a relatively stable aspect over time from both perspectives.

An introductory chapter provides general information detailing the advantages and limitations for performing nuclear medicine tests in children, as well as suggestions on how to approach and provide relevant data to the patients, their parents or next of kin. In the remaining 11 chapters, containing over 115 cases of children evaluated for various clinical indications, procedures are presented and subsequently detailed according to their clinical significance or prevalence based on the clinical experience of the contributors. The book is organized by organ systems, and also includes chapter on oncology and infection/ inflammation. Chapters are formatted to provide information regarding clinical indications, preparation including radiopharmaceutical doses and additional medications, study protocol, study interpretation, correlative imaging. Each chapter will include red flags warning and take home messages sections to emphasize important points. The case format is presented with patient history and then study report and impression. Die Covid-19-Pandemie deckte viele schon länger in der Bundesrepublik bestehende Missstände, soziale Ungleichheiten und politische Versäumnisse auf. Die „Jahrhundertpandemie“, das von ihren ...ökonomischen Auswirkungen sowie den staatlichen Infektionsschutzmaßnahmen ausgelöste Krisendesaster, aber auch die stark auf Wirtschaftsunternehmen bzw. die sozialversicherungspflichtig Beschäftigten zugeschnittenen Finanzhilfen und Fördermittel des Staates haben die Ungleichheit weiter verschärft. Dass die Pandemie sozial extrem polarisierend gewirkt hat, gilt besonders für Kinder, Jugendliche und Heranwachsende.
Among the different factors that predict political participation, the characteristics of the local community are often described. The types and the intensity of political participation differ in ...urban and rural communities. The local community provides social and cultural resources for political participation and at the same time acts as a driver of political socialisation. The political attitudes of adolescents differ depending on the characteristics of the communities in which they live, i.e. the local context of their political socialisation. This paper describes the context of the political socialisation of adolescents in the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) in terms of geographical differences in socioeconomic, sociostructural, and sociocultural characteristics. The approach uses public databases to construct indicators that describe administrative districts in terms of their degree of urbanisation, degree of aggregated individual wealth, and variety of opportunity. These indicators were merged with the NRW subset of the International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS 2016), which comprises N = 1451 students in N = 59 schools. Neither the degree of urbanisation nor the degree of aggregated individual wealth was suitable for explaining differences in the intended political behaviour of secondary school students in the 8th grade in NRW. However, the higher the variety of opportunity in a certain district, the less frequently students intend to participate in elections as adults. Also, the higher the measure, the more frequently students intend to participate in illegal protest activities. Apparently certain local environments mobilise intentions to participate in protest activities and suppress more conventional political activities.
Die häusliche und schulische Lernumgebung von Heranwachsenden ist heute durch digitale Medien (mit-)geprägt. Gegenstand des Beitrags ist die Bearbeitung von Hausaufgaben und die Rolle, welche ...digitale Medien hierbei spielen. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt in diesem Kontext auf der Nutzung mobiler Instant-Messaging-Angebote – insbesondere spezieller Gruppenchats von Schulklassen, also Klassenchats. Die Autorinnen und Autoren betrachten das Verhältnis zwischen Schule, Familie und digitalen Medien und diskutieren hierfür Zwischenergebnisse aus drei laufenden Forschungsprojekten. Projekt (1) bearbeitet die Frage nach Gelingensbedingungen für eine anregungsreiche, kompetenz- und kindorientierte Gestaltung der digitalen häuslichen Lernumwelt. Inwiefern Klassenchats von Schülerinnen und Schülern eingesetzt werden, um Heteronomie zu bewahren bzw. Autonomie zu gewinnen, steht im Fokus von Projekt (2). Projekt (3) betrachtet Medienhandeln im Umfeld häuslicher Lernaktivitäten und stellt unterschiedliche Rekonstruktionen der Herstellung von Selbst- und Weltverhältnissen als Medienbildung mit Hardware, Repräsentationen sowie Lehr-/Lernmitteln vor. Alle drei Projekte betrachten die Mediennutzung von Kindern und Jugendlichen mit Blick auf Optimierungsprozesse aus unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln. Vor allem der Erwerb von Informations- und Recherchekompetenz definiert die Rolle von Alltagsmedien im Lernalltag neu.
Among other things, today, digital media shape the learning environment of adolescents at home and at school. Subject of this article is the processing of homework and the role of digital media within this ecology. A special focus is set on the use of mobile instant messaging services, especially group chats within school classes. Therefore, authors focus on the relationship between school, family and digital media in this context and discuss first results from three ongoing research projects. Project (1) deals with the question of conditions for the success of a stimulating, competence- and child-oriented design of digital home learning environments. The extent to which pupils employ class or group chats in order to preserve heteronomy or gain autonomy is the focus of project (2). Project (3) examines media activities in the context of domestic learning activities and presents different reconstructions of the production of self- and world relations as media education with hardware, representations and teaching/learning materials. The manifold use of media that indicates potential optimization processes for formal and informal learning is essential to all three projects. The role of everyday media in terms of home learning environment is thus to be reconsidered.
Der Pflege-Report, der jährlich in Buchform und als Open-Access-Publikation erscheint, rückt im Schwerpunkt 2022 jene Pflegebedürftigen in den Mittelpunkt, die nicht wie im „Normalfall“ aus ...altersassoziierten Gründen Unterstützungsbedarf aufweisen: Fast ein Fünftel der Pflegebedürftigen ist noch keine 60 Jahre alt. Neben Kindern und Jugendlichen zählen hierzu auch Erwachsene im erwerbsfähigen Alter oder Menschen mit speziellen Grunderkrankungen wie beispielsweise frühen Demenzen, Beatmungspflicht oder Menschen mit Behinderungen. Alle diese Betroffenen fallen letztlich mit ihren spezifischen Bedarfen durch das Raster der „Altenpflege“. Die 16 Fachbeiträge des Pflege-Reports widmen sich ihren konkreten Versorgungs- und weiteren Unterstützungsbedarfen und wie diese gezielt gedeckt werden können: in Bezug auf das geeignete häusliche oder außerhäusliche Pflegesetting sowie hinsichtlich der erforderlichen Qualifizierung und Unterstützung informeller wie professioneller Pflegekräfte.
