THIS ARTICLE PRESENTS THREE INTERCONNECTED ARGUMENTS. FIRST, THE IRAQI INVASION OF IRAN DID NOT EMANATE FROM A PREMEDIATED GRAND DESIGN BUT WAS A PREEMPTIVE MOVE INTENDED TO FORESTALL THE IRANIAN ...THREAT TO THE EXISTENCE OF THE BOATH REGIME BY DESTROYING OPPOSING FORCES AND DENYING TERRITORY. SECOND, IRAQ DID NOT OVERESTIMATE ITS MILITARY POWER: IN 1980 IT ENJOYED AN UNDENIABLE MILITARY EDGE. THIRD, IRAQ'S MISTAKE WAS THAT IT DID NOT USE ITS ADVANTAGE DECISIVELY. IRAQ'S STRATEGY FAILED BECAUSE ITS OBJECTIVES WERE TOO LIMITED.
Students, faculty advisors, and administrators in a college of agriculture and home economics were surveyed to determine their perceptions of academic advising in the college. Each respondent group ...rated what advisors are doing and what they think advisors should be doing related to 35 advising functions. The results of the study showed that advisors have a much more positive view of how well they fulfill advising functions than do their advisees or their administrators. Recommendations for improvement of academic advising within the college included: (1) narrow the discrepancy in perceptions of how well advising functions are being met by improving the advisor/advisee relationship and (2) help advisors by developing programs that would increase their ability to help students improve study habits, assist students with academic difficulties, and help students identify their personal strengths and abilities.
Considerations are made on essential factors for environmental education at primaryschool, and a shortcoming of present popular methodology is pointed out: It does not implantin childrens' mind a ...sense of a sin as a source of environmental polution, which must motivatethe action for the protection of environment. An education program at primary school in Siogama City, which stresses the implanting the sense, is presented. The effect of the program is estimated by using semantic differential method.
