Commento all'avviso dell'U.S.
In the paper Children’s Books: from ABCs to Pop-ups, I reconstruct the development of published offerings for pre-schoolers, both in Italy and abroad, across the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. ...The rich and varied documentation held at Turin’s school museum allows us to analyse this kind of source at multiple levels: from the graphics (dimensions, colours, and font type) to the messages directed at children and calibrated to their social class; from the blend of realistic and fantastical content to the diverse methods used to present the alphabet and foster both visual and phonic learning; and from the characteristics of illustrations to the relationship between written text and the language of images. It is interesting to observe how, from the early twentieth century onwards, the progressive affirmation of a sentiment of childhood was reflected in the production of books designed to actively engage children in play – one of the most distinctive and spontaneous expressions of the nature of childhood.
The article illustrates the experience of Imaginopolis. Our places with their eyes), educational project for children and adults in the urban space. ...The project aims to purpose the idea of an alternative knowledge and perception of the city. The paper describes all its phases and goals.

The "Leo&Giulia standing for public health" project is an innovative digital health education model targeting primary school children. The project, developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, aims to ...educate primary school-aged children about public health issues through an animated cartoon series. It highlights the importance of early-life health promotion and the potential role of educational settings in shaping health behaviours.
A 2-year school-based cluster-randomized controlled community trial will be conducted among 8-10-year-old pupils in the province of Pavia, Northern Italy.
The intervention group will receive an educational programme via a new episode of "Leo&Giulia" animated series, focusing on smoking prevention. The study will assess changes in knowledge, attitudes towards smoking, and communication about smoking risks among peers and parents. The trial involves baseline and follow-up assessments through questionnaires targeting both children and parents.
We assume that children in the intervention group will demonstrate increased knowledge and awareness of smoking-related health risks and develop negative attitudes towards tobacco use compared to the control group. Enhanced communication about tobacco harms among peers and between children and parents, as well as increased parental involvement in anti-smoking socialization practices, are expected secondary outcomes.
"Leo&Giulia" integrates health education into the school curriculum, leveraging the appeal of animated content to engage children in public health topics. The project is expected to contribute to the field of health education by demonstrating the effectiveness of digital health interventions in childhood, foreseeing potential long-term impacts on health behaviors and in shaping future public health strategies.
Objective: To investigate (a) whether expert clinicians within psychodynamic therapy (PDT) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) agree on key features of child psychotherapy process using the Child ...Psychotherapy Process Q-Set (CPQ); (b) whether these two prototypes can be empirically distinguished; and (c) whether promoting mentalization (operationalized as reflective functioning RF) is a shared component of the way expert clinicians conceptualize these two treatment models. Method: Thirty-one raters with expertise in PDT, CBT, and RF provided ratings of the 100 CPQ items to describe an ideal prototype session that adheres to the principles of their treatment model. Two Q-factor analyses with varimax rotation were conducted. Results: Expert clinicians reached a high level of agreement on their respective PDT and CBT prototypes. These prototypes loaded onto two independent factors. The RF process prototype loaded onto both factors. Conclusions: From the theoretical perspective of expert clinicians representing PDT and CBT, a focus on RF appears to be a common process factor in the way both treatment models are conceptualized. The CPQ can also be a useful instrument in teaching psychotherapy process from different theoretical perspectives and training future clinicians in their application. Future researchers can use these prototypes to explore process in actual sessions.
The article discusses a pilot study on ethical education in two preschools. The project involved teachers, children and parents to deepen the ethical understanding of subjects aged four and five, to ...explore the effectiveness of guided dialogue in the classroom and extension activities aimed at promoting reflections, ethical discussions and moral development in children in pre-school age. The data was collected through observations, interviews, activities, questionnaires; the analysis of the data is in particular qualitative, without neglecting a quantitative contribution. The project involved two early childhood schools: a specific ethical education intervention was carried out in the first, a standard control program was followed in the second.
This paper focuses on the role of the managers of child protection services in a region of Northern Italy during the Covid-19 pandemic. In most child protection services, there is a manager who is ...responsible for supporting social workers and collaborating with directors and policymakers. The COVID-19 pandemic has strongly impacted welfare organisations, professionals, service users, and families. Given the exceptional situation, an online survey was conducted on child protection services and the functions performed by managers during the first phase of the pandemic (March-May 2020). This paper presents the findings of a research survey involving 85 child protection managers. The challenges of the new organisation of child protection services required by the health emergency, the hectic work schedule and the fear of infection did not hinder the action of social services. Managers played a crucial role in developing and enhancing the new skills and tools necessary to cope with problems and difficulties created by the health emergency. Although the scope of the study is limited as it involves only the managers of one Italian region, its findings could be relevant to other European child protection services.
