Spheres comprising 10 wt.% Mosub.2C/γ-Alsub.2Osub.3, synthesized through the sucrose route, exhibited unprecedented catalytic activity for olefin hydrogenation within an industrial naphtha feedstock ...that contained 23 wt.% olefins, as determined by supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC). The catalyst demonstrated resilience to sulfur, exhibiting no discernible deactivation signs over a tested 96 h operational period. The resultant hydrogenated naphtha from the catalytic process contained only 2.5 wt.% olefins when the reaction was conducted at 280 °C and 3.44 × 10sup.6 Pa Hsub.2, subsequently blended with Athabasca bitumen to meet pipeline specifications for oil transportation. Additionally, the carbide catalyst spheres effectively hydrogenated olefins under steam conditions without experiencing any notable hydrogenation in the aromatics. We propose the supported carbide catalyst as a viable alternative to noble metals, serving as a selective agent for olefin elimination from light petroleum distillates in the presence of steam and sulfur, mitigating the formation of gums and deposits during the transportation of diluted bitumen (dilbit) through pipelines.
In this paper, a comparative analysis between the PMsub.2.5 concentration in downtown Quito, Ecuador, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and the previous five years (from 2015 to 2019) was carried ...out. Here, in order to fill in the missing data and achieve homogeneity, eight datasets were constructed, and 35 different estimates were used together with six interpolation methods to put in the estimated value of the missing data. Additionally, the quality of the estimations was verified by using the sum of squared residuals and the following correlation coefficients: Pearson's r, Kendall's τ, and Spearman's ρ. Next, feature vectors were constructed from the data under study using the wavelet transform, and the differences between feature vectors were studied by using principal component analysis and multidimensional scaling. Finally, a robust method to impute missing data in time series and characterize objects is presented. This method was used to support the hypothesis that there were significant differences between the PMsub.2.5 concentration in downtown Quito in 2020 and 2015-2019.
The possibility of generating organically modified hollow TiOsub.2 microspheres via a simple sol-gel synthesis was demonstrated for the first time in this work. A mixture of titania precursors, ...including an organically modified precursor, was used to obtain methyl-modified hollow TiOsub.2 microspheres selective for bilirubin by the molecular imprinting technique (Methyl-HTM-MIM). Methyl-HTM-MIM were prepared by a sol-gel method using titanium (IV) isopropoxide (TTIP), and methyltitanium triisopropoxide (MTTIP) as precursors. Two ratios of titania precursors were tested (1/6 and 1/30 molsub.MTTIP/molsub.TTIP). With the characterization results obtained by the SEM and ATR-FTIR techniques, it was possible to establish that only the 1/30 molsub.MTTIP/molsub.TTIP ratio allowed for the preparation of hollow spheres with a reasonably homogeneous methylated-TiOsub.2 shell. It was possible to obtain a certain degree of organization of the hybrid network, which increased with calcination temperatures. By adjusting isothermal adsorption models, imprinting parameters were determined, indicating that the new methylated microspheres presented greater selectivity for bilirubin than the totally inorganic hollow TiOsub.2 microspheres. The effectiveness of the molecular imprinting technique was proven for the first time in an organically modified titania material, with imprinting factor values greater than 1.4, corresponding to a significant increase in the maximum adsorption capacity of the template represented by the molecularly imprinted microspheres. In summary, the results obtained with the new methyl-HTM-MIM open the possibility of exploring the application of these microspheres for selective sorption (separation or sensing, for example) or perhaps even for selective photocatalysis, particularly for the degradation of organic compounds.
In this paper, we study the entanglement structure of a system of N quantum oscillators with distinctive coupling strengths, all linearly coupled to a common massless scalar quantum field. This study ...is helpful in characterizing the notion of an entanglement domain and its symmetry features, which is useful for understanding the interplay between different levels of structure in many-body quantum systems. The effect of the quantum field on the system is derived via the influence functional and the correlation functions are obtained from the solutions of the evolutionary operator of the reduced density matrix. They are then used to construct the covariance matrix, which forms the basis for our analysis of the structure of quantum entanglement in this open system. To make the physical features explicit, we consider a system of three quantum coupled oscillators placed at the vertices of an equilateral triangle with disparate pairwise couplings. We analyze the entanglement between one oscillator and the other two with equal (symmetric) and unequal (asymmetric) coupling strengths. As a physical illustration, we apply the results for these two different configurations to address some basic issues in macroscopic quantum phenomena from the quantum entanglement perspective.
