Despite the new South African Children's Act framework on parental responsibilities and rights, many parents still have a constant battle over children, with fathers being denied contact with their ...children after a relationship breakup. The aim of this study was to use document analysis and semi-structured interviews to explore the experiences of Sepedi fathers in Limpopo Province, South Africa, in terms of the phenomenon of being denied contact with their children after a failed relationship. The study used a qualitative descriptive design, using Tesch's qualitative data analysis model to analyze the data. The study revealed that several factors influenced these fathers' access to their children, causing distance between the fathers and their children as certain prerequisites were set for contact with their children.
