The effects on the economy generated by the global sanitation crisis that the whole humanity recently went through prove to be unprecedented. By means of the work hereby, we aim to outline the ...conceptual and pragmatic universe with regard to the impact created by the speed-up of accounting digitalization under the effect of technological changes occurred following the sanitation crisis. Thus, the research implies three stages: the description of the business digitalisation framework in terms of the implementation of modern technologies in its processes, succeeded by the adoption of cloud technology at the level of the financial-accounting department and completed with the impact of cloud phenomenon regarding the digitalization of several issues related to the taxation of processes within the companies. After following these steps, the results of the research are logically correlated with the unquestionable speed-up of business processes digitalization as a result of the crisis generated by COVID-19, an issue which determines a shift in the interest of the accounting area towards cloud accounting, facilitating the transition of phenomena corresponding to fiscality in cloud mode in view of simplifying the collaboration between entities and state institutions. The research methods used for the purpose of fulfilling the work’s objective are the review of specialty literature, the analysis, synthesis and comparison, techniques assigned to bibliometrics.
In the future, learning will be essentially characterized by the ability to regulate the learning process and monitor success independently from a teacher. The technical possibilities offer better ...access to learning contents, precise and more individualized feedback, and learning phases adapted precisely to the needs of the learner in terms of scope and pace. In this study, we investigate an important aspect of the digitization of teaching/learning processes using the example of laboratory scripts for chemistry students at university. The focus is on looking up terms and concepts in preparation for the lab internships, firstly in a paper-based glossary and secondly in a digital glossary. During a two-day study, a total of 16 students prepared for experiments on two topics with completely identical materials. We then studied the influence of content knowledge, motivation, and cognitive load. While all students show significant learning achievements, there are no significant differences between the groups. Furthermore, results show that pure digitization of information has no effect, despite the theoretically assumed advantages.
During times of technological development, many aspects of everyday activities have been digitalized while traditional forms of payments have stepped back in the name of more innovative methods such ...as cryptocurrencies. This article focuses on analysing the emergence, functionality, and future role of cryptocurrencies, particularly Bitcoin. By interpreting the theoretical aspects of money, the emergence of cryptocurrencies, and blockchain technology, the authors tried to determine whether cryptocurrencies have the potential to become the money of the future. In the article, the analysis of cryptocurrencies’ functioning in the modern world focuses on the role of technological development and innovations in their use and popularity. SWOT and speculative analyses of cryptocurrencies, which have been touted as the money of the future, were also carried out. The results obtained from the research show that cryptocurrencies have many advantages over traditional payment methods. Elimination of intermediaries, low transaction costs, safe storage of data, limited increase in monetary supply, globalization, and privacy are stated as the most important of these opportunities. In addition, energy use, inaccessibility without the internet, high volatility, and cyber-attacks were seen as the most important threats and weaknesses. When developments in the world follow, it can be seen that there are many blockchain-based opportunities or threats. Despite this, blockchain technology offers great opportunities. As a result, countries and individuals should turn to this technology now to benefit more in the future. At this point, it is very important for all other educational institutions, especially universities, to implement educational programs that will meet the needs of the age.
The so-called “Fourth Industrial revolution”, also termed as “Industry 4.0” in the wider literature, is associated with several cutting-edge technologies. Indicative examples in this category are ...advanced applications like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data Analytics (BDA), Cloud Computing and Internet of Things (IoT), which are already influencing the maritime industry. It is indicative of the fact that there are several construction projects of autonomous ships, such as the Yara Birkeland and the Autonomous Spaceport Drone Ship (ASDS), which are heavily reliant on technologies associated with the Industry 4.0 concept. The maritime transport industry is already transitioning into a new operations paradigm, often termed as “shipping in the era of digitalization”. Shipping companies promote digitalization as the future of the maritime industry and their efforts to set up strategies are already in progress. Examining those visions and strategies in relation to digitalization would be beneficial to better understand the way towards which the maritime industry is heading. This paper is aiming to identify the characteristics of that pool of future plans via a qualitative review and with a particular focus on major maritime commercial actors, based on shipping companies' relevant action plans that were gathered online. A conclusion standing out is that major shipping companies have embraced digitalization to increase cost-efficiency, raise competitiveness and meet the needs of their customers.
A third wave of technological advancements, which is often referred to as “digitalization,” is affecting organizations across the board. This paper aims to present a comprehensive synthesis of the ...extant scholarly work on digitalization in the accounting literature. It does so through a systematic literature review that focuses on articles on digitalization published by the highest-ranked accounting journals in the period 2007–2017. By conducting a thorough review, we extend Rom and Rohde's (2007) literature review on integrated information systems (IIS) in management accounting. Furthermore, we utilize a modified version of the framework proposed by Rom and Rohde (2007) to classify and interpret the literature. This allows us to understand the differences between IIS and digitalization in accounting, and to illuminate avenues for future research. The paper concludes with an overview of three main differences in how IIS and digitalization have influenced accounting, and three concurrent avenues for future research on digitalization in accounting: the elusive boundaries of accounting, power relations, and knowledge production for decision making.
•Digitalization is the impetus for increasingly elusive boundaries of accounting.•Digitalization is changing power relations.•Digitalization raises new issues of knowledge production in decision making.
With rapid advances in digitalization, the application of digital technologies for supply chain and procurement processes have been advocated to facilitate revolutionary innovations in the built ...environment. Therefore, over the past decades, substantial research has been conducted on digital supply chain and procurement technologies (DCSP-technologies) in the built environment, resulting in a vast, fragmented and diverse body of knowledge. In this study, a comprehensive state-of-the-art research on DSCP-technologies in the built environment is presented through mixed review methods, to reveal knowledge areas that are needed to advance digitalization in construction supply chains. The science mapping analysis and qualitative discussions were used to provide insights into the research activities, challenges and opportunities regarding the digitalization of construction supply chains. Six themes including digital construction, digital integration concepts and security were identified, with blockchain-smart contracts being the most recent trend in construction supply chains. Further, future research opportunities including building information modeling (BIM) system integration, Industry 4.0 and emerging DSCP-technologies, cybersecurity and sustainability relationships with DCSP-technologies were provided. This study adds value to construction digitalization literature by providing the comprehensive picture of research explorations, and revealing the research needs essential for researchers and practitioners to develop and advance DSCP-technologies in a digitalized and sustainable built environment.
•Digital supply chain and procurement technologies are explored.•A mixed review showing the key areas of construction supply chain for industry 4.0.•Main areas of research activities at global and regional levels are identified.•Blockchain-smart contracts activities in construction supply chain and procurement are provided.•Relationships between digital technologies and sustainability are highlighted for future research in construction.

The development of digital technology and intense competition have forced owners of small firms (MSMEs) to adapt technological developments to compete with competitors quickly. This study examines ...the effect of digitalization and competitive advantage on market sustainability and performance. This study used a qualitative method by distributing questionnaires to 166 MSMEs owners in Indonesia. The finding of this research indicate that digitalization and competitive advantage affect sustainability and market performance. This study's results suggest to MSMEs owners that technological proficiency is crucial for companies to survive in an uncertain environment.
