The ...results of the study of fauna of click beetles in the Republic of Mordovia are presented. By now, 58 species of click beetles have been recorded here. Adrastus pallens is a new record for the republic. As per the literature information, 6 species of click beetles (Agriotes pilosellus, Melanotus crassicollis, Melanotus fusciceps, Liotrichus affinis, Pseudanostirus globicollis, Stenagostus rufus) are known and these indications require confirmation. Two species (Agriotes acuminatus, Limoniscus suturalis) are excluded from the fauna. Taking into account the literary information in the fauna of Mordovia, 64 species of Elateridae are known. Agrypnus murinus, Agriotes lineatus, Agriotes obscurus, Agriotes sputator, Dalopius marginatus, Ampedus balteatus, Ampedus pomorum, Hemicrepidius niger, Athous subfuscus, Prosternon tessellatum, Selatosomus aeneus are among the mass species. A list of the species is presented, which with a high degree of probability can still be found in the republic.
Wireworms (Coleoptera: Elateridae), the subterranean larval stage of the click beetle, are becoming more prevalent in many cropping systems and posing an increasing economic threat to wheat growers ...in the Pacific Northwest following the cancellation of the insecticide lindane in 2006. Current insecticide seed treatments alone are not adequate for wireworm control. The objective of this study was to evaluate a diverse set of 163 wheat genotypes for tolerance to wireworm feeding. Entries were planted in replicated field trials over 3 yr and evaluated for their performance when grown in the presence of wireworms. Entries were rated based on survival and given a tolerance score. Results indicated that differences exist among wheat genotypes in their level of tolerance to wireworm feeding. In particular, consistently high-ranking genotypes of interest may be 'BR 18', 'Sonalika', 'Safed Lerma', and 'Hollis'. These genotypes, used in conjunction with other cultural or chemical control methods, may help provide an economic means of controlling wireworms.

More than 730 specimens of Elateridae were collected in Khuzestan province. Thirty three species belonging to 18 genera and five subfamilies are listed. Three new species, Craspedostethus izehensis ...sp. n., Dicronychus khuzestanicus sp. n., Gurjevelater catei sp. n. are described, along with the female of Aeoloides iranicus Platia & Gudenzi, 2002. Dicronychus houschkai Platia, 2011 is recorded as a new species to Iran. A distributional map and climate data for each species, along with photographs of habitus and genitalia of eight species are presented.
Monocrepidius Eschscholtz, 1829, previously Conoderus Eschscholtz, 1829, is one of the largest genera in Elateridae, with about 380 species distributed worldwide, with the majority of diversity in ...Australian and Neotropical regions. Several species groups have been recognized in Monocrepidius. Monocrepidius fuscofasciatus (Eschscholtz 1829) belongs to Candèze's section I with seven species distributed in South America, predominantly in Brazil. Larvae of M. fuscofasciatus is undescribed and distribution of this species is poorly known. In the present work we describe mature larva, pupa and redescribe adults of M. fuscofasciatus, and also add information about distribution of this species. Monocrepidius fuscofasciatus larva is similar to that of M. malleatus Germar, 1824, its closest species with known larva. They differ from other American species in the presence of penicillus on mandible and abdominal tergum IX more setose, with a lateral row of 6 or 7 setae. In the other species, the penicillus is absent and the lateral row bears 2 or 3 setae. These results corroborate that larval evidence is useful in the taxonomy of this genus.
The type specimens of Elateridae described by Otto Schwarz from Mesoamerica are redescribed, reassessed and lectotypes designated. Acanthathous championi (Schwarz), Smiliceroides quadrilineatus ...(Schwarz), Anoplischiopsis divisus Schwarz, Anoplischius dorsalis Schwarz, Atractosomus nigerrimus Schwarz, and Anchastomorphus minutus Schwarz are retained in their current status. Monocrepidius restinctus Schwarz is reduced to synonymy under Monocrepidius rugicollis Champion. Aeolus mediofasciatus Schwarz is transferred to Monocrepidius Eschscholtz. Tomicephalus bilineatus Schwarz is transferred to Anchastus LeConte, renamed Anchastus lapsus Fuller, and reduced to synonymy under Anchastus seminiger Champion. Crepidius blepharipes Schwarz is restricted to the lectotype and retained in its current status; the other syntypes are unidentified species of Dipropus Germar. Anchastus championi Schwarz is reduced to synonymy under Anchastus tenuistriatus Champion; one syntype is an unidentified species of Dipropus Germar. New country records are documented for A. dorsalis, A. nigerrimus and A. minutus (Guatemala), and A. tenuistriatus (United States).
Here, we describe and illustrate a new genus of Elateridae from Cundinamarca, Colombia, Raphaellus Zurita-García, Morales-Perdomo & Martínez-Luque, n. gen., to accommodate the new species R. ...deusminutosi Zurita-García, Morales-Perdomo & Martínez-Luque n. sp. The genus Raphaellus belongs to the subtribe Agriotina (Agriotini). A key to distinguish the genera of the New World subtribe Agriotina and taxonomic notes on Agriotini are presented.

We evaluated the relative efficacy of six pheromone-baited traps used in trapping Agriotes obscurus (L.) click beetles (Coleoptera: Elateridae): original Yatlor Traps, Yatlor Funnel Traps, Vernon ...Beetle Traps, Unitraps, Baited Pitfall Traps, and Vernon Pitfall Traps. Traps were rated according to quantitative and qualitative criteria of importance for each of four trap uses: general surveys, scientific studies, IPM monitoring, and mass trapping. Measurable quantitative categories included: total catch of A. obscurus; time for assembly, installation, and inspection; exclusion of nontarget invertebrates; and cost. Qualitative criteria were small mammal exclusion, flooding, design and handling variability, and convenience for various field uses. The most desirable characteristics were determined for the above four uses, and the cumulative ranking based on quantitative criteria and all four uses was Vernon Pitfall Trap, Baited Pitfall Trap, Original Yatlor Trap, Vernon Beetle Trap, Yatlor Funnel Trap, and Unitrap.
