When assessing urban eco-environmental sensitive areas (Urban Eco-ESAs) by multi-criteria evaluation method, the widely used weighted linear combination method may inevitably lead to some factors of ...high sensitive value being neutralized by other factors of low sensitive value, resulting in the neglect of some eco-sensitive areas as a consequence, while on the other hand, Boolean OR combination method, which give a result of high sensitive value as long as any factor has the value of high sensitivity and thus ignore the mutual compensation mechanism among ecological factors, can lead to excessively wide ranges of the eco-sensitive areas. To overcome the defects of these two methods, the authors propose an Urban Eco-ESAs synthesized assessment method giving finely controlled priority to bottleneck factors, and relative model based on selective local encouraging variable weights combination. The method is able to increase the weights of some eco-bottleneck factors on the basis of a weight-changing function in synthesizing multiple factor assessments as long as their assessment values break the bottleneck threshold values, which can guarantee the eco-sensitive areas identified by bottleneck factors being embodied in the final result, while also retain the compensation effect of multiple ecological factors, which makes the results of the assessment more reasonable. In order to deliver this empirical research, Taogang Town in China, which is adjacent to Net lake wetland nature reserve area, has been used as an example to confirm the validity of the method and the model.
The present paper focuses on female startupfounders in Hungary. Numerous studies examine femaleentrepreneurship, but the topic of female startups is a lessexplored area. The research was carried out ...in two stages:at first in 2019 through an online survey and in-depthinterviews, and then in May 2021 with in-depth interviewsdue to the delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.Mixed research methodology was used and comprised ofan online questionnaire administered in startup-themedclosed social media groups (n=113) and in-depthinterviews among experts and members of the ecosystem(n=7+7). The aim was to conclude how potential femalestartup founders could be encouraged and what form ofsupport should be given to them, as well as to explore theeffects of the Covid-19 pandemic on female startupentrepreneurs. The results show that 70 percent ofrespondents have their own business, these were set up byboth sexes between the ages of 24 and 35. Therespondents mostly use equity when starting theirbusinesses. Although the proportion of women amongstartup founders is very low, a positive entrepreneurialattitude can be observed among them. The startupecosystem is centralised in Hungary; it is only emerging insome major university cities outside the capital. Thestrengthening role of startup communities and socialmedia is unquestionable. Furthermore, the results reveallimiting factors, especially complex ones hindering femalestart-ups, which can typically be traced back to family andsocial reasons. To overcome these obstacles governmentsshould continue facilitating startup development. Thepandemic was considered as an opportunity to promotenew ideas and features, concentrate on design and finetune their startup businesses.
It has been widely recognised that the participation of different groups of people is crucial to urban forest management. This paper aimed to focus on the motivating factors and conditions that ...foster participation in urban forest management. Also, the main constraints which limit participation were explored. Therefore, a survey using a researcher-designed questionnaire was used to gain information from forest visitors. Exploratory factor analysis was used to categorise all the effective factors and constraints into summarised factors. Using a principal component analysis, it was found that the most important factors encouraging participation in urban forestry were health and environment improvement and involvement spirit. These two factors explained about 60% of citizens' participation variance. The constraints also were categorized into four categories namely "lack of legal support", "lack of cooperation spirit", "lack of motivation" and "lack of time and awareness". The stepwise regression model with socio-economic features and factors affecting citizens' participation in forest management also showed that five variables, namely health and environment improvement, having a child, involvement spirit, lack of motivation and income were predicting 45.1% of the effective factors on citizens' participation. The results suggest that to enable more participation of citizens, the legislative structure should change and institutional support increase. In addition, motivation, particularly economic and increasing awareness are necessary for attracting citizens to participate in forest management plans.
Introduction: Medicine is one of the noblest of all professions and is one of the rapidly expanding fields with increasing number of private medical colleges in the past few years. Several ...international studies over the years have explored perceptions and preferences of students in choosing a career in medicine. This study was done with the objective to assess students' views regarding selection of medicine as a career.
Methods: A survey study was conducted at Lumbini Medical College Teaching Hospital (LMCTH) where 300 students of both sexes were asked to fill a structured questionnaire.
Results: All medical students mentioned that they selected the medical profession because of personal interest. Of them, 285 (95%) students believed this profession offers services to humanity. However, 240 (80%) students felt that their family had an influence in their career selection. Among discouraging factors, 234 (78%) students mentioned that medical training is difficult and prolonged, 210 (70%) students said that the course is too expensive, 225 (75%) students felt that there is too much competition while 186 (62%) students expressed that doctors have excessive working hours and lack social life. Major factors in choosing LMCTH as study destination were compulsion because of failure to enroll at other colleges 180(60%), easy access to admission 120 (40%), cheaper than other medical colleges 165 (55%) and location near to hometown 24 (8%). Some of the discouraging factors were limited facilities 210 (70%), insufficient faculty members 270 (90%), newly established college and uncertain future 90 (30%).
Conclusion: Study concluded that reasons for joining medical profession are primarily based on personal interest, respect and honor, family influence and service to humanity; however, long working hours, prolonged training, expensive study, discourages many students.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the sub factors of co-rumination on depressive symptoms and the moderating effects of emotional clarity between the sub factors of co-rumination and depressive symptoms in adolescents. The subjects comprised 170 high school students. The results were as follows: First, depressive symptoms revealed a positive relationship with an adolescent’s ‘ruminative discussion on a problem’ and a negative relationship with emotional clarity. Second, only adolescent’s ‘ruminative discussion on a problem’ was seen to have a significant effect on depressive symptoms. Third, emotional clarity proved to have a significant moderating effect on the relationship between an adolescent’s ‘ruminative discussion on a problem’ and depressive symptoms. Thus, this study confirmed the importance of taking emotional clarity into account when examining the relation between an adolescent’s ‘ruminative discussion on a problem’ and depressive symptoms.
Wireless capsule endoscopy (WCE) proves its robustness as a great technology to examine the entire digestive tract or the small intestine. An automatic computer-aided design method is proposed in ...this study, in a manner to differentiate between ulcer disease and normal WCE images. A multi-scale analysis-based grey-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) is conducted here. The main step, the co-occurrence matrix (GLCM), is computed from each sub-band Laplacian pyramid decomposition, so as to extract the common Haralick features. Moreover, the p-value and area under the curve are used to select the relevant characteristics from the feature descriptor. This proposed approach was separately applied to the components of CIELab colour space. Ulcer detection was performed using the support vector machine. The findings demonstrate an encouraging detection rate performance of 95.38% for accuracy and 97.42% for sensitivity based on the first dataset and an average accuracy of 99.25 and 98.51% of sensitivities for the second dataset.
Primijenjeni su sljedeći mjerni instrumenti: upitnik sociodemografskih obilježja, Skala poticanja samoreguliranoga učenja, Upitnik učiteljskih percepcija o poučavanju i učenju, Skala učiteljske predanosti i Oldenburški upitnik sagorijevanja.
Self-regulated learning (SRL) has become an important educational goal, and as it depends on the context in which it occurs, teachers have an important role to play in encouraging the development of effective learning self-regulation strategies. The aim of the research was to examine the teacher's encouragement of SRL and its relationship with some sociodemographic characteristics of teachers (gender, length of service, educational level), teachers’ perceptions of teaching and learning, commitment to work and burnout at work. The research was conducted on a sample of 299 primary and secondary school teachers. The following measurement instruments were applied: Socio-Demographic Survey
Questionnaire, Self-Regulated Learning Encouragement Scale, Teacher Perceptions on Teaching and Learning Questionnaire, Teacher Commitment Scale and Oldenburg Burnout Questionnaire. The results showed that teachers consider the promotion of SRL is important in modern teaching and that they encourage SRL in working with students. Teaching and learning are predominantly perceived as a process of empowering and encouraging student development (student-centred activities) which is a departure from traditional teacher-centred activities. No differences were found in encouraging SRL with respect to teachers ’sociodemographic
characteristics, but some differences were found in teachers’ perceptions, commitment to work, and burnout. The connection between encouraging SRL and the dominant perception of teaching and learning, as
well as commitment to work and burnout at work, has been established. The strongest predictors of encouraging SRL are commitment to school and
students, and the perception of teaching and learning as a process of empowering and encouraging development in students.
Low rates of mental health help-seeking for combat stress are reported in prior literature, with perceptions of stigma as a common factor preventing help-seeking. This article explores the Social ...Norms Approach as a message strategy for increasing help-seeking and encouragement of help-seeking among military members. The Social Norms Approach specifies messages for correcting misperceptions about prevalence and social approval of health behaviors. This article examined whether military members have misperceptions about the approval of seeking help and encouraging others to seek help for combat stress. Surveys with service members at an Army installation, a Naval station, and a convenience sample were used to assess military members' perceptions of norms about whether others would encourage or approve of help-seeking, as well as their own willingness and approval of encouraging others to seek help. Results indicated misperceptions in norms, with a larger percentage of participants personally approving or indicating they would encourage others to seek help than their perceptions of what others would approve of or do. Results are discussed in terms of stigma research and campaign message interventions.
